Finally got the dyno graph up the following is how it appears

Blue 4th Gear - Bone stock nothing done no AFR was done on this day 141ish. done 7 months ago - note the dual stage kicking in.

Red - 4th Gear - 3" dump pipe, high flow cat, hks super dragger exhaust, K+N Panel filter, Turbosmart bleed valve set to 9psi

Green - 3rd Gear - 3" dump pipe, high flow cat, hks super dragger exhaust, K+N Panel filter, Turbosmart bleed valve set to 9psi

Conclusion: In stock form looks pretty clean. add a bit more boost and a few other things the ECU decides to go into over protective mother mode and pump way to much fuel in by the end of the run it looks like it was running at about 10.5 which is wayyyyyyyyyy to rich but still making ok power though you cna also see it starts getting a bit wavey up top.

Putting the FMIC on soon will probably just make it worse too so yea i will be looking at least an SAFC if not something else. Does anyone have any feedback on a tuned r32 ecu as the 33's cant be tuned from what i have been told. i think one of the guys toshi posted up in the for sale area that he can re-program them for a couple of hundred dollars which would be alot better than a SAFC providing its tuned right wouldnt it ???

You can't use an R32GTST ECU in an R33GTST, no VVT for a start, plus the pin outs are totally different. I should point out that in my opinion any ECU tuning not done on line (ie; off the shelf chip) is a GUESS, and every engine is different.

I can't see how an FMIC will make it worse. If it lowers the inlet air temps, you may be able to run lower boost (decrease the airflow) and make the same (or maybe even more) power. Less airflow would mean the standard ECU would resort to a lower (or non existant) R&R strategy.

The only time an FMIC would make it worse is if you choose to allow the lower resistance to increase the boost. But that is your choice, not the FMIC's.

Hey guys, i know this might sound side tracking abit...but im just curious, does it mean that running anything more than stock boost on standard ecu, will cause the car not to perform as well?

Assuming that the ecr33 has been modified with stock internals?

how do you mean it wont perform as well naturally it is performing better as you are making more power however you are probably not doing it the safest/best way if you are not using some sort of fuel/engine management

I was wondering would these power dips show up under WOT in 2nd gear aswell you think?

Also - I am thinking about getting a powerfc...

but I saw on the UAS website there is a graph for a car with more mods than mine and it is going well on stock ecu!!

its in shootout mode with an intake temp of 34 degree's so its rounded to compare what power it would make at 25deg inlet temp, so its probably reading higher than it normally would. the plenum wouldnt make an ounce of difference and the stock dump would be a nice big restriction. heck my stock dump is holding me back at 170rwkw with powerfc

Brought my Skyline 4 weeks ago. Was stock standard but now has:

K&N Pod filter

Jasma cat back exhaust

Split dump and front pipe

Ball type boost control valve

Had its first dyno run this morning in 14 degree weather and made 178 rwkw.

Boost was set to 12 psi and my dyno chart doesnt show any of these dips in the power. The torque is also quite flat.

The mixture was VERY rich though, and the tuner said there was another 20kw to be found by leaning it out in the upper RPM.

Looking at upgrading to a front mount intercooler next but still trying to find an aftermarket one that has the GTR style end tanks, not the ones that look like only the bottom 3 rows are being used.

It just seems like that is a lot better than the curve most people are getting. I think I am getting rich and retard at around the 10psi mark with only a R34 intercooler. If you compare the UAS graph to others it seems that it is a very good stock ecu. I'm not talking about power. I'm more looking at the shape of the curve..

    • After my last update, I went ahead with cleaning and restoring the entire fuel system. This included removing the tank and cleaning it with the Beyond Balistics solution, power washing it multiple times, drying it thoroughly, rinsing with IPA, drying again with heat gun and compressed air. Also, cleaning out the lines, fuel rail, and replacing the fuel pump with an OEM-style one. During the cleaning process, I replaced several hoses - including the breather hose on the fuel tank, which turned out to be the cause of the earlier fuel leak. This is what the old fuel filter looked like: Fuel tank before cleaning: Dirty Fuel Tank.mp4   Fuel tank after cleaning (some staining remains): Clean Fuel Tank.mp4 Both the OEM 270cc and new DeatschWerks 550cc injectors were cleaned professionally by a shop. Before reassembling everything, I tested the fuel flow by running the pump output into a container at the fuel filter location - flow looked good. I then fitted the new fuel filter and reassembled the rest of the system. Fuel Flow Test.mp4 Test 1 - 550cc injectors Ran the new fuel pump with its supplied diagonal strainer (different from OEM’s flat strainer) and my 550cc injectors using the same resized-injector map I had successfully used before. At first, it idled roughly and stalled when I applied throttle. Checked the spark plugs and found that they were fouled with carbon (likely from the earlier overly rich running when the injectors were clogged). After cleaning the plugs, the car started fine. However, it would only idle for 30–60 seconds before stalling, and while driving it would feel like a “fuel cut” after a few seconds - though it wouldn’t fully stall. Test 2 – Strainer swap Suspecting the diagonal strainer might not be reaching the tank bottom, I swapped it for the original flat strainer and filled the tank with ~45L of fuel. The issue persisted exactly the same. Test 3 – OEM injectors To eliminate tuning variables, I reinstalled the OEM 270cc injectors and reverted to the original map. Cleaned the spark plugs again just in-case. The stalling and “fuel cut” still remained.   At this stage, I suspect an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, caused during the cleaning process. This has led me to look into getting Frenchy’s fuel hanger and replacing the unit entirely. TL;DR: Cleaned and restored the fuel system (tank, lines, rail, pump). Tested 550cc injectors with the same resized-injector map as before, but the car stalls at idle and experiences what feels like “fuel cut” after a few seconds of driving. Swapped back to OEM injectors with original map to rule out tuning, but the issue persists. Now suspecting an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, possibly cause by the cleaning process.  
    • For race cars, this is one part where I find having the roll cage bar having gone through a hole in the floor better than the build it up on a ledge inside... The Merc I help on, the main hoop ends are marked on the car, and the jack is marked... Jack goes under a few inches and lifts one whole side of the car up... Removes that fight for long slim jacks for race car duties!   My biggest issue for the daily drivers I work on, is my jacks don't go high enough. The jacks start out on a few blocks, jack it up, then start a second jack under it on more blocks, and then I can get an axle stand under it. My axle stands are presently in use, and are nearly fully extended. The car is sitting with barely more than a cm of clearance to get the wheel off the studs! Sarah's Kluger is the same, as it has an ungodly amount of droop available in the suspension and a distinct lack of good jacking points!
