prob not too hard, will definately need some custom welding etc to make the plates for rails to bolt to floor, then will need to be engineered unless u like defects..

seats will prob cost u $500, install $300 and eng. cert. $4-500

justjap had a pair of STi seats last time i was there, but your in QLD... might be worth calling them anyway? theyre in syd btw

yes, wrx seats are quite cheap and readily available.. so worthwhile trying. Would have to look into the fabrication/adaption of the rails though as to see whether it is worthwhile.. considering a pair of GTR seats can be had for just over $1000.

^^ *quietly chuckles.. true true..

Would have thought a pair of GTR seats would be better.. wrx ones aren't that much better than the standard SII ones..

Are the STI seats different to standard wrx ones?

WRX seats are much better than gts SII , sti seats are the same but they have better material .

I would go for gtr seats though , better than wrx , they will be a staight fit and they are Nissan as well .

Thanks for the input guys

Reason i want the wrx seats at first was because i love how they wrap around you making you more secure and u tend not to move as much.

Are the gtr seats much the same? Must admit never sat in a gtr b4

Also what model gtr u guys suggest? i'm thinking r34? also where would i be able to get a set?

R34 GTR seats are around $2000+

You are best off therefore with R33 or R32 ones.. at about half that.

Personally for me, I think the GTR seats are solid and look great, they are not comfortable for long distances. After a couple of hundred km in my mates GTR my ass is hurting. They are built to hold you in though, rather than be outright comfortable. Only way is to try them.

The GTR33 seats are not that solid. My drivers seat back was leaning to the left, then it broke and sagged just 3 weeks after buying the car. I pulled it all apart and straightened the left side back mount, which was just some crap steel sheet pressed with a small lip for strength and 2 stress concentrating bends across the pressing. After a significant quantity of bracing welds and quenching I'm satisfied (not "happy"). Once the initial movement started it appears that fatigue failures started throughout the whole bracket, so it's a bit cheap in my educated structural engineers opinion. Most un-GTR like in quality.

Further, without the back fully supporting the base, tie-ing the whole structure together, there is evidence of movement in the base, indicating fatigue damage there as well so I'll have to remove the seat again and investigate to determine the damage.

For the outrageous price asked for these seats, you would expect outstanding quality. They are good in a track environment with a full harness but uncomfortable on long drives or for those with wide shoulders but nowhere near the quality or strength expected.

Opinion! Not worth more than $400 each in excellent condition from my close inspection of the construction. Just a factory seat, but an above average one.

I'll take Recaro's anyday.

That was Robert DeNiro in Taxi Driver.

Scarface was:

"Say Hello to my little friend!"

hahaha oooops i always get those two confused!

i agree with most on this tread, GTR seats are definately the way to go.

much easier and cheaper to throw in than rex seats, and you will probably get less hastle from coppers, there's something about rex seats that just makes them stand out in other cars... plus GTR seats are nissan so you could prob get away with it without them hastling you too much...

personally i love rex seats, they just hug you so much~!

but GTR seats hug u even more! you honestly dont move at all..

if your a medium build and fit snugly in rex seats and want a bit more hold without being uncomfortable then you will love GTR seats...

the other day i sat in some fixed racing buckets in a GTR straight from japan, i honestly couldnt even get my ass in them, i was suspended in the air, sitting on the sides! hahaha

those asians have small bums

    • That looks good, but I think you're going to need much beefier side skirts now.
    • They are daft and there's a reason it never caught on. Steering feel? We don't need no stinking steering feel!
    • I gotta pull you up on this. It's driving me crazy. A shutter is something that closes, like over a window or in a cmera. The word you want is shudder. That LSD is clearly f**ked. Take it to a diff shop and get it disassembled and examined by an expert. YOu might have plates welded together or something equally crazy.
    • Define "starting to fail". Wy not just rebuild them?
    • Check the Nistune doco. There are a few assumptions being made here that might not be valid. I will list the things that occur to me: Base map. Base map for what? Base map for Z32? Then the cranking pulse width is probably wrong for an RB25. The extra 500cc of capacity might well be enough to prevent it from catching. Base map for RB25? I don't think you can load one of those into a Z32. You have to just make the settings correct for an RB25 in the Z32 base map. That is either K or the TIM to get the pulsewidth right. Loom. You bought a loom for an RB. And you plugged it into a Z32 ECU. Did you make sure that any iwre differences were swapped. From memory, there's at least a couple. And as per the others, I would suggest making sure that the fuel pressure is correct while cranking and that the injectors are actually flowing as expected. They really must come out and go on the bench, unless you do find that you have messed up as per above points. I would also suggest watching in Nistune to make sure that everything is reading correctly. That the correct binary flags are raised at the right time (like the crank signal), that there's no stupid values in K or TIM. That you have not got mismatched firmware for the ECU and/or a wrong image loaded.
