HI Everyone,

I have a Greddy ProfecB spec2 and the boost warning feature keeps coming on when whenever I get near 12psi regardless of what it is actually set at

I can rectify this problem by resetting the limit value down (to any value so long as its less and not more thatn the original setting) but that only lasts until I reach the set boost a couple of times and then it goes back to flashing the waring over 12psi or so.

The warning level can be set at 16 psi, but the warning will still come on as above.

I don't believe that boost is spiking as I have had it on a dyno and I monitor the boost guage regularly and it still controlls boost effectively.

I have played around with all of the settings but I am at a loss.

Has anyone else had this problem with their ProfecB or other boost controller? or can offer any suggestions?

I have a series 2 R33 GTS-t

Thanks for your help

what is your max/peak boost when it cut out?

The warning light comes at about 12psi, sometimes as earlie as 10.5 psi.

The problem doesn't seem to have any effect on the units ability to controll boost, its more of an annoyance that the unit keeps flashing and beeping.

if it doesn't cut out when the warning light flashing then check for loose wires! if live in the western area i can give you a had to sort it out, pm me if you need help! :D

What's the peak when you get the warning?

reset the peak, fang it... if you get the warning check the peak. It'll most probably have peaked over whatever it is you have your warning set at.

I allways thought that the warning light was only a warning on the pbs-2.Not a fuction that cuts the boost as well.

You can set the warning to do nothing. Red "Warning" mode screen, and a "0" setting (this sets it to do nothing).

Or you can set it to something by setting this to a number. Then basically, if the profec B reads a higher boost pressure then it will default the boost setting to whatever you had set on the red warning screen.

Yeah have exactly the same problem. Not sure what causes it yet. Had to set the boost warning 10psi over normal boost to avoid it. Also have the problem of over boosting when i floor it at anything over 3500rpm. Nothing i do with the settings will fix it. Really bloody annoying. Going to change to a jaycar one instead.

Gunna put the shit Greddy thing in my deisel van.

My Greddy Profec B spec 2 works fine. Really fiddly but fine.

I'm on full boost(13psi) just before 3000rpm (stock turbo) and it holds boost perfectly (see graph)

dynoPowerFC_psi_web.jpg

Mine holds boost fine too on normal spool up. But not when smashing it above normal full boost rpm. Dicked with start boost and gain. Can't stop it over boosting. And the warning is stuffed too.

At the moment the limiter is set to 0, so its not limiting the boost only flashing its head off.

Peak boost never goes above 14 psi and the warning is set at 15 psi

I have a black head unit.

I have no problems with boost controll as my dyno graphs will show either a spike or flat progression depending on how I set up the unit.

I Don't think that it is wiring as I can change the warning setting from 15.3psi to 15.2psi and it will only flash when 15.2psi is reached. But this only lasts till i hit boost 3 to 5 times (any boost ammount) and then it will start flashing on boost levels above 12psi?????

So when your is ebc off it boosts fine but when the ebc is on no matter where it is set it overboosts ridiculously.

Why is that.No matter what you have it set on.

I have the duty cycle at 32% which gives me a nice consistent 16psi on normal roll on spool up. But will spike up to 3psi when smashed above 3500rpm.

Also on the drag strip with around a 4000 -4500 rpm launch the peak boost for the whole run doesn't get above 13.5psi. Got me stuffed.

    • Yeah I've had too many issues with knock off's on the BMW's. I don't want to do a job twice or more because the parts are shit.
    • I read this and thought "ah! I will do this scissor jack on the tow point thing!" I just use my floor/low profile/costco jack and lift the car up by the tow hook itself, then slide jack stands under. Never thought about using scissor into floor jack combo :p
    • Well, my new WMI system took much longer to finalize. I actually missed my dyno appointment last Friday and lost my 150$ deposit. I'll be going back in the next week or two.  To sum it up. I only kept the AEM tank from my old setup. I replaced the AEM pump with a higher flow/pressure ProMeth 30GPH pump. I also swapped over to a 6AN low pressure feed line to the pump from the tank. There's also a pressure switch you cannot see on the pump high pressure line.    This is feeding 6x 200CC direct port nozzles and 1x 500CC Pre Throttle body nozzle. All fittings are Swagelok, because well why not. I also have a 300PSI pressure sensor up front.    I now have my Haltech ECU controlling everything. I start my pump with a basic relay at 5PSI and deadhead it. I then PWM a 3000CC methanol Injector to control flow starting around 10psi. The pressure switch in the trunk, along with my tank level are safeties before I ever get to 10PSI, and then I use my pressure sensor upfront as a secondary safety to cut the WMI and corrections in case the injector blocks or a line ruptures.  Wish me luck on the dyno!
    • So, I'm back with bad news. There's no jack long enough on this planet that will reach the front subframe. If by some chance there is, it would weigh 200lb's.  I purchased a long reach jack... The damn thing weighted 120lb's and was massive. Didn't even come close, was still short at least a foot. It was a pain, but I brought it back. Next I decided HA! No problem, I'll get an Extra long reach jack. Well, I couldn't lift the box... It must have weighed 160LB's and luckily there was an open box in store. I took measurement and was still nowhere close.  Sadly I've lost hope and have accepted defeat.
    • Thanks for that tip, niZmO_Man. I think the battery is OK. It's quite a new one, but I'll check. Last time I needed a new battery, everything electronic was fine, except that there wasn't enough current to turn over the starter. I decided to order one of the partial AV system translation CDs from Car Audio Workshop in NZ. That might have some effect, or help me diagnose the date problem. 🤞
