In a recent copy of zoom i saw a clubman wth the rb25de and its mods were custom extractors, custom plenum and computer.

I was just wondering if anyone has done anything different to their plenum in the quest for power.

Even more so if gains could be made using aftermarket plenum options such as the Greddy one with a 80mm throttle body etc? (a large outlay for minimal gain i would imagine).

BTW the car was pulling 148kw@wheels in the article, And the tuning shop that fitted/tuned the computer is local for me

the plenum change wont give you any power increase and if it does its not worth it. $1000 odd for the greddy plenum and youll get maybe 5kw? i wouldnt even change the plenum on a 280rwkw gtst cost vs gains = pathetic. spend the $1000 on something else. the puter on the other hand, if u can get a cheapie remap done then should give u 15rkww ish maybe for $250 odd

It was theoretical question, i couldn't justify putting a 1k plenum on my N/A either as it would be better spent on my GTR. I was just curious on ppls opinions on how much of a difference it would make as i stated above. The clubman with the Rb25de was pulling 148kw at the rollers with plenum, extractors and computer....

when i was looking into different engine options i did some research and talked to my old boss (x race car mechanic) about 6 throttle bodies with tuned length trumpets. This option will give far better results then a plenum. The length and design of the trumpets will determin where and when the car makes power and torque, different options give different results. This option will increase power and torque but more notably markidly increase throttle response.

To build a highpower NA engine, internals need to be light weight, lightening pistons, lightweight rods, knifeblade the crank, all balanced correctly will allow the engine to rev quicker more freely and higher... High revs is how NA's make power, match a suitable head capable of flowing enough air for the engine and you will have a great package.
