Well....bout 2wks ago l put the bid in and got myself a Dec 97 Stagea RSfour.

Pretty damn happy to, as it was the first one l saw that l have really liked, and has enough mods to keep me happy for while (like those BBS wheels *drools*, and all the interior goodies! ).

Anyone know what brand the kit is on the car? as l can't find pics anywhere that look the same.

Just a quick question, with aftermarket head units, do l need an fm transformer thingy so l can listen to aus fm radio??

And has anyone fitted up a Brant Nemesis alarm to their stag?

oh.....here's some pics of it waiting for its boat trip to its new home.......bet it won't look this clean when it arrives in my driveway!! :]

Complianced somewhere up in QLD, not sure on details of where. But the guy thats importing it for me, its his friend......soooo :D

I know the standard front bar is in the car, as is the standard exhaust & wheels.

What other issues is there in regards to the kit??? I was under the assumption bodykits were alright. Was just engine mods, eheels, breathing mods, etc.. that were not compliable (is that a word?!?!).

Well my car has to be 100% standard so, no wheels, no suspension, no exhaust. I'm thinking that you may have to get a standard bodykit (?). I need some standard wheels if you want to lend me your standards when your done (or I could buy them?). Do you have aftermarket suspension on that?

I looked up your kit in my trusty Hyper Revs Stagea mag and you kit is a " Charge Speed". 100% sure the front is anyway. Yes I think it all is. The pic in the book is a on a dark green Stagea Pg 104. Has the eye lids too.

Cool.....least l know what its called now, as its not one l'd seen about when l've searched on stagea's on the net.

As for the wheels....they sold already, there's a skyline in SA waiting for them.

My car is on a boat this week (prolly today), so l'm starting to organise a few things so l'm ready to go once the car gets to my driveway (after compliance), like front window tinting, etc....:)

How many of you did a full service when you got your car??

I'm thinking of changing all the usual stuff (oil, filters, g/box oil, spark plugs, full tune, etc...) and possibly the front pads as well, so at least l know the history and when it was done. Are the pads something l may need to order now??

Is it worth doing the discs as well??

Also.....what size speakers fit into the doors??

will 6/6.5" (for fronts) speakers fit??? (l'll be looking at splits for the front, and something that'll handle bass for the back as l don't want a sub)

And does anyone in melb know if Danny from AutoTrust still answers email's, or just calls?? Need to talk to him in regards to alarms, and sent him and email 5 or so days ago

i found the standard system to be VERY good, i am not going to change any of the speakers. With an aftermarket 50w per channel head unit they sure do the job perfectly.

As for service, i beleive your car will receive some goodies when going through compliance, including brake pads and so on.

Dont just replace the pads unless you dont get new ones, save your dollars and go for a full brake upgrade. My brakes shutter right now, but its the rears discs and pads and i am just holding off until i can afford slotted dics and high performance pads.

I did a service on my even though i bought it in Aus. Its best if your going to do something liek that if you put in some more mods, like DFA or something, and then change all the things and then go for a full tune, i am waiting on some parts before a tune...should be much nicer.

Anyway, how long until your car arrives? How long is the wait for compliance and then till delivery. Shipping is around 15 days....

Yeah l like my music, but we'll see how we go. There's already an aftermarket head unit & tv/dvd in there, hence why l was thinking of getting some splits at least.

Is it worth upgrading the fronts brakes/calipers to r33GTST one's?? or on a stock stagea they fronts are fine, well maybe with some slotted discs.

car....10-14 days on the boat, clear customs a few days max, then its off to be complianced straight away, prolly 1-2wks max there, then to melb & get registered. So l'm guessing 5 weeks from now. Would be in OZ already l reckon by coz of O-bon in japan everything got delayed by 10 days. *sigh*

Head unit wont work in Australia...with radio at least, unless you get an FM expander, but then its a bitch becaue its like, 80.3 is nova and stations are expanded 10 or 20 Mhz depending which channel is free...confusing to say the least, but if you do your presets, it works out all good.

    • Even more fun, leave all the ADAS stuff plugged in, but in different locations, hopefully avoid any codes!   And honestly, all these new cars with their weird electronics. Pull all the electronics out Duncan, and just shove an aftermarket ECU and if needed a trans controller in, along with a PDM. Make it run basic but race car styled!
    • To follow up a question from earlier too since I had the front bar off again (fking!) This is what is between the bumper and the drivers side wheel And this is the navigator side, only one thing but its a biggy! So basically....no putting coolers in the wheel arches without a lot of moving other stuff. Assuming I move to properly race prepping this car I'll take that job on and see how the computers respond to removing a whole bunch of ADAS modules
    • So I prepped the car for another track day on Wednesday (will be interesting to see coolant temps post flushing out and the larger reservoir, with a forecast of 3-14 being 20o cooler than last time I took it out). Couple of things to mention; since I am just driving the car and not taking a support vehicle, I took the rear seats out and just loaded the back up Team Trackday style. Look at all that space! To cover off removing the rear seat....it is weird (note the hybrid is probably different because it wouldn't have folding rear seats) Basically, you remove the lower seat base, very similar to a r series but it is a clip that pulls forward to release the base rather than it being bolted down. Easy Then, you need to remove the side section of the rear seat on each side. There is a 14mm head nut at the bottom of the side piece, the it slides upwards off a hook at the top to release; you also need to unhook the seatbelt from the loop at the top. Then the centre piece is weird. You need to release/fold the seats forward with the tab in the boot on each side From there, there are 2,x12mm headed bolts holding the rear of each seat to the folding bracket, under the trim between the rear seat and the boot (4x christmas tree clips there, they suck). The seat is out but you can see where the bolts attach to the bracket
    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year.
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
