hey,

Just wondering if anyone knows anything about the NEW Sony PSP, As i have seen them for sale (pre-order) for like $400; but i could pick one up today for like $250-$300, its a Jap NTSC one but i was reading that the games are not region lock which means i can still play games from australia (PAL).

Any info on it would be cool.

Cheers Michael

PSP was out in japan last year around Christmas, same time Nintendo DS came out. It's 20,000 yen in japan, which is, like you said Mikey, around $230-250 australian.

well if there's any comment i'd say it's better than the Nintendo DS... i think... i havent played the PSP but my sis has the DS (i dont like it that much =/ )

Yeh the PSP is good sh!t :(

I've had mine for the last few months and i use it all the time. I was lucky enough to get one with firmware version 1.0 which allows me to run homebrew applications and to play iso games off the memory stick. Version 1.50 will also run homebrew and there are rumours that v1.51 and v1.52 will soon be able to downgrade their firmware to v1.50 allowing you to run homebrew. I believe the Australian release PSP will come shipped with version 2.0 loaded which while having the added feature of a web browser, prevents you from running 'unauthorised' software, aka homebrew.

I hardly play any games on it... i have isos of many games but have yet to try them out. I mainly use the psp for music, video, photo viewing and homebrew apps. The homebrew scene for the PSP is very strong and there are many many new appz being released all the time which extend the psp's capabilities.

All in all, highly recommended, but if you can, try to get v1.5.

    • Sorry to hear your HFM BM57 was faulty,  did you contact HFM I would hope they would be at least grateful for the information if there was some sort of manufacturing fault, you would hope they would be sympathetic even if your item was 2 years old if it had never been fitted. May I ask where it leaked from ?
    • Cats are called Bella, and Donna...  Like that poisonous plant And I remember your 2 monsters, I remember making a little bit of wee when you let them out... LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
    • Not to mention they drive like a bucket of bolts! yuck!
