I have standard ceramic turbos fitted to a 97 R33 GTR Vspec.

I want to know what are the fastest spooling aftermarket turbos that will produce around 500-600hp?

Drivability is the key. I dont want massive hp between 7000 and 8000 rpm.

cost is also a factor. Thinking about the Garrett 707160-7 turbos.

Any Thoughts?

Thanks

Does the 707160-7 have the GTR type flange already do you know?

I was looking at that too - as it appears to have similar specs to GT-SS.. Is this your thinking too?

Most people seem to be suggesting the 707160-5..

The tried and proven option round here for a streetable car with a usable 500-600hp would be a set of 2530s.

There are plenty of cars on these forums with 2530s and they love em.  Great on the track too!

For a street driven GTR they are the best option.....not too bad on the strip either

I'd just drill it out and tap ina 1/4" thread. No need for rocket surgery when the next most obvious thing will do. You could throw a 1/4 x 1/8 bush in there and use the same fitting you intended to use.
    • Is the only issue that the oil catch can is getting filled on hard runs? I'd be thinking more about oil control issues rather then the head lifting, especially as you aren't seeing spiking in the coolant pressure.  Do you need restrictors in the head, or better drains from the head? Does the sump need venting to the catch can?
    • Tried to make 1/8npt threads into compressor house of the turbo for my EBC. Threads got fu#ked and ended up with and elongated hole, so I do have good amount and nice threads 90% of the hole but 10% I only had 1-2threads there and rest of it is flush on that side of the hole.. So my idea is to do M12 x 1.25 to AN4 with braided lines instead of 1/8npt to 4mm vacuum silicone hose.  and hopefully get a better thread. M12 is quite big and AN4 is a little bit bigger than 4mm (4.9mm inner diameter braided PTFE hose). but this should work. Thoughts? Otherwise I will weld and adapter onto the turbo.
