CAR 89 GTR

Clutch Twin plate organic (I think)

Bought a 89 GTR last year .Before the car arrived was told there might be a clutch slipping problem when cold. Got the car had it a year no problems. Put a set of nice dumps on it last week made spool up quicker.Drove it on the week end and in 4th when it comes boost clutch starts to slip, only did it once and could not make it do it again. This morning drove it again now doing it in 2nd and 3rd as well.Kept driving the car for a while and the sliping went away. No signes at all of slipping not even with a hard luanch. Whats going on? Is the clutch stuffed? Could the clutch not be releasing properly? Is it some kind of clutch that needs heat to bite? Can you get organic twin plates re lined? If so who and how much?Any help please? dont have 2 to 3k to throw at a clutch right now.

Thanks.

Hi Flo

I had a similar problem at the drags last week did a good second gear burnout and launched out the hole great enough to beat a wrx yet as soon as i pulled 2nd ,3rd or 4th gear its slipped badly ,on low boost it holds fine and on street tyres now the clutch is only 2500klm old so took it back the the supplier on the week end he checked the clutch hydrolic system by grabing hold of the clutch fork and pushing it in the oppisit direction to its travel . There was no pressure on the clutch system so said that was working fine hence full pressure was being applied to the clutch just on high boost and semi slicks its making to much power for the clutch plate to handle . I would assume since putting on the new exhaust its made enough power to push ur clutch over the edge now if you have got 12 months since you were told it was on its way out you've done well but its time to give it a well deserved burial

Cheers Peter
