Hey this is a group buy for LINK ems ecus

I have arranged with LINK ems in NZ to buy 10 units with them at 750 each including postage costs to australia.

If we dont not get 10 people we must have at least 5 but the price will go up by about $50

Tuning

There is no need for the vehicle owner to understand, or even be aware of, the “zone sheet”. This page is for the those who tune engines or are interested in the more technical aspects of engine management. The zone sheet is the table which the Engine Management System looks up in order to run the engine satisfactorily. All settings reside here and are adjustable via the Remote Tuning module. In order to adjust fuel for example there are three controls:

MASTER Controls overall fuel injection scheduling and is effective throughout the entire operating range from idle to full power. The scale ranges from 0..99, the higher the value, the greater the overall fuel.

ROWFUEL Allows the ZONE FUEL table to be adjusted a whole row at a time. i.e. All values on the current row will be adjusted up or down irrespective of the RPM. ROWFUEL is primarily intended as a coarse adjustment to allow broad shaping of the ZONE FUEL table during initial tuning, and would normally be used after MASTER has been set, but before ZONE FUEL is used. Careful use of ROWFUEL will eliminate the need to spend large amounts of time in ZONEFUEL trying to make major changes overall by wandering about the table making localised corrections. (It is quite difficult to hold the engine in any one of 96 zones while corrections are made even under the most favourable conditions.) The current row is displayed in parenthesis to show the currently active row, but the RPM information is suppressed since this feature is not RPM dependent.

ZONEFUEL There are 96 fuel zones arranged in a rectangular grid consisting of 6 rows by 16 columns. The rows progress in steps of Manifold Air Pressure to provide the “load” axis, and the columns progress in steps of RPM. Therefore, each zone represents a unique engine operating condition allowing fuel changes to be made in small, localised areas. The selection of zones is completely automatic, depending on the actual RPM and MAP values at that instant. The current (active) zone is identified to allow correlation to the zone sheet and to give an indication of where you are in the table. The zone numbering system is not linear, but designed to provide a clearer indication as to effective location. e.g. zone 110 = ROW 1, 1000..1500. Adjustments are made by operating the “Adjust” buttons as required, and the actual value is displayed on the right hand side of the display. Adjustment scale = 0..99

Large steps between zones are permitted since the Link Engine Management System interpolates (i.e. calculates intermediate values) on all tabled data. The 96 adjustable zones effectively become 32,000 micro zones after interpolation.

    • I don't know, I've never done it that way, but 1. While it is an interference engine, there is still clearance between the valves and the piston at all points in the regular timing cycle 2. There is not a lot of distance before you can't catch the top of the valve stem any more I don't know if 2 is greater or less than 1. But 3. If it doesn't work out you are f**ked, engine is coming out to disassemble so it is a big bet.
    • Semi slicks are horrible for road use, just use a high performance road tyre unless you really need the maximum grip. Noisy, unpredictable (amazing, until they are not), expensive due to very high wear and not good in cold and particular wet. And yes, it is a thing to store cars on stands instead of tyres if you know they are going to be parked up long term.....but who ever realises that a short park is going to stretch into years before it is out again!
    • I know in Australia you'll definitely get above 30c. Parked in the shade in Summer you'll be above that. 😛 But in cooler climates, you might get that warm driving on the highway for a bit, but you'd never get to full heat temp. I'll try and find some of my historical tyre temps between Aus summer and winter (be aware immin the warmer area of Aus too.)
    • I get that taking off the head is best but that's a bit much for "just" valve seals. I was just under the impression that one would be able to rotate to TDC and be able to temporarily drop the valve without losing it and effectively having to remove the head to then recover it. I never knew people actually pushed rope into the cylinder to do valve seals hahaha So just to confirm, just going to TDC will not work? In that case I know when I do valve seals I'll maybe just remove the head and do some other things while I'm there, or just wait until I do an engine build.
