Might be looking to go banana bending in the future so I thought I'd ask peoples opinions on suburbs of brisbane..

you know..

where should I stay away from.. and so forth.

will probably be working in the city so I need to be within 15KM's or 20 minutes drive from the city center.

so name some suburbs for me that is ideal to live in.

I need to be in an area where I can have a lageish comfortable house with like large yard and double garage sort of layout.

budget is probably about $400K for the house.

name some suburbs so that I can do a domain search for hooses in those areas.

thanks.

Give me till June/July I'll have a newly completed reno for ya :(

Quitting professional life as an engineer to do reno's with the Missus, and I'll be focussing on the inner west and northern suburbs which tend to be leafier and prettier.

Throw up a whereis map and start to learn the layout a bit. You should do ok around Red Hill, The Gap, and well there are just so many good places so I gues elimination is better than posting all the good ones.

Basically almost anything with in 15km of the city is good! Im a bit reluctant to say certain suburbs are bad in case I offend people from there but most of the dodgy ones begin after around 1/2 an hours drive (Normal driving) from the city and are more likely to be on the south and west sides :(

Where I live, Yeronga, there are many large houses like you talk about and you could get one quite easliy for 400K, 350k being average for a 3 bedroom on a decent block and it is only 6 kns from the city which is 10 minutes by train for me.

I have been doing where is type searches..

and then going through domain to look for homes..

I found a couple of good places in TINGALPA (about 13km east of brisbane city or 20 minutes drive.)

example

http://www.domain.com.au/Public/PropertyDe...adid=2005077642

or a couple in Manly as it's close to the water.

Why is Wynnum a place to stay away from?

on the map it looks like a good location.. being close to the water and all.

thanks for your help all.

the example of the house from TINGALPA above is pretty much exactly the thing I am after.

same size and layout, even same sort of brick used outside.

any other points from anyone.. and if giving a reason as to why I should steer clear of some suburbs, please try to say why as well.

thanks

you can still get close to river front for $400k..

thats where the good money will be.

While you say 'close to the beaches' gtst.. the beaches up north of the city (redcliffe ,etc) , or south in manly, wellington point, etc are not really great swimming beaches or anything..

no waves, not too many sand beaches, bit mud flatty.. etc

Anyhow, this is in general terms from my travels to those sorts of areas now and then. Really you'd need to check it out for yourself.. just don't be expecting miles of pristine beaches or clear water like you find on the goldcoast, or further up north.

oh ok... good to know..

when you say not good swiming beaches, you mean dirty? or you mean no waves?

Those "beaches" are sort of mangrovey and sort of muddy rather than sandy! And no waves, Think mosquito breeding ground!

    • This car has run before on this z32 ecu can get the part number for you, I have tried with no AFM it didn’t change anything, I compression tested today 140-150 across all 6 cylinders, also set fuel pressure to 43psi. The only weird thing was cylinder 1 plug was black and fouled other 5 cylinders were just wet with fuel. Spun cas by hand and confirmed injectors are clicking

    • A 1.5 way is a 2 way. It is just a 2 way with a less aggressive ramp on overrun.
    • The ABS and/or TCS being missing/broken will not cause the engine to misbehave. It just casues CEL to come on and annoy you. The CEL is useless if it is always on, so you have to do the things you have to do to get rid of it, so it can be useful. Being a Stag ECU, then yes, it will not expect TCS to be present. But it will expect ABS to be present and working. You will need to either make the ABS CU talk to the ECU (don't ask me what that will take on an NA R34), and make sure the hardware is working....or, you just need to blank it out in Nistune. Do not persist with the stock ECU. You will just have problems. Gte it Nistuned. Start from there. DO YOU HAVE A BOOST SENSOR? The ECU's boost sensor that it. It is connected to the loom at the rear of the coil cover. Usually rides on the firewall on an R34, but is usually bolted down to a bracket along with all the other crap at the back of the coil cover when a Neo is dropped into another car. If you do not have it, the ECU will shit the bed. So, do you have one?
    • So sadly the fuel pump etc was not it. The pump and filter is new and it is still cutting around 4000 rpm. A read something about ABS/TCS (engine is from stagea and ECU too so no TCS) and i dont know for 100% that my car has ABS. It has ABS "cube" in engine bay but i dont think it works(or at least from my braking experience). Can be something like that?  I will be driving the car next week to Nistune tuner to properly see what is wrong...
