Hi all,

i have just installed a Blitz DSBC (Silver casing and blue back lit screen). Got it put on the duyno and have found out my fuel pump has had it....

Was driving home today and put my foot down a little and it seemed to do the misfire thing (as this is an Bosch fuel pump that just kacked it) (not sure whether its not flowing enough orhas shat itself) anyway it seemed to do that boxer engine type noise but along with a bit of a "chirpy" type noise as if it wsa coming from the turbo.....Decided to limp it home safely....

Im wondering whether it has been set up with too much boost and its just leaning out with this pump. That sed is someone able to tell me how to setup my boost controller so it runs as little boost as possible..possibly supplying a phone number?

Or do you think it may be that from the addition of this controller then boost is coming on stronger than before i.e. more earlier causing a misfire earlier or....????

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers David

and now im scared if i do try it again it will blow the turbo!!! help!!

Then it's probably been installed wrong. What boost did the car make prior to installation of the dsbc? Check the little switch on the back of the unit is set to "ac" and not "wg". The stock 32 actuator should make a maximum of maybe 12psi before dropping back to 10.

Made like 11 psi with tapering back to 9 or so in the higher rpm....however as the fuel pump was f**ked she was running a litle lean....(12.9)......but that was without the boost controller installed when she went on hte dyno......ill check that....but not sure i kno what i am doing....instead of trying to stuff around with it to much...shud i just leave it and just baby it until i get it all tuned and a ne wfuel pump done??

    • I thought it could be an issue because the standard plate was flexing when stressed. Maybe the original gear set will hold a bit better without flex? Last time on the dyno it made around 670nm at the hubs. Now it have bigger turbo and better intake but have not been on a dyno yet. The car is being used from family trips to drag race events. So the shifts can be a little violent. It is grinding if I shift to fast so was thinking I should overhaul it soon.
    • From the factory on RB26s there's a fitting on the intake manifold collector/"plenum" that provides pre-throttle boost signal. That's how they did it back in the day, I figure it's fine to replicate it.
    • I would be surprised if that wasn't the issue. It's probably telling you, that even if you remove the plastic liner, you may have some other clearance issues that may occur too in some scenarios. IE, tyre to guard. It looks like someone has already rolled the lip, but you may still have issues in the future IE, turning and hitting a bump etc. The fact it changes how bad it makes the noise when you are going backward vs forward is highly indicative that it's the tyre rubbing. They do make a terrible sound, even if you're only pushing a project car that has a liner hanging down on a tyre!   Has the car been lowered? If it has been, what is the measurement from the centre of the wheel hub to the lip of the guard straight up?
