Hey Guys (sorry for the dbl post, its in motoring too, but I'm looking for ppl asap)

I'm looking for some ppl to help out on sunday at oran park, its in aid of an event to help out kids

Its being held at oran park North circuit. You have to have a CAMS L2S (level 2 speed) license, and a roadworthy car.

We require sensible ppl, preferably who've had track experience before as you'll have children/kids in the car and there is a speed limit. I'll have a radar on the day and if you set a wheel in the dirt the clerk of course will be speaking to ppl.

Here are some details taken from my club web page below

I also need ppl to help official on the day as flag marshalls, or pit/non competition marshalls on the day. this is no less important then driving (gives you a different perspective of racing ). no experience needed guys, its dead simple

You can Contact either myself or Brenton on the following #'s if you need more info

cheers

It is being held at Oran Park on the last Sunday before Christmas, the 18th of December. As this is the 10th Anniversary of Kids Race Day, we are working to make sure that this one is special, and we would like your help.

We recognise that for some people this can be a hectic time of the year and some people are just a bit burnt out with motor sport, however it is also the best time of the year to give some nourishment to your soul, while providing enjoyment to some kids who are for one reason or another, finding life just a little on the tough side now.

In previous years, we have ended up with so many cars that it made organisation on the day extremely difficult. For example, last year we had 73 entries (forms filled in), yet over 220 cars turned up to participate. This year we are trying something a little different. We have broken the track in two and will be running Supersprint and Exotic cars on the North Circuit, with race car/driver combination operating on the South Circuit.

If you are able to be of assistance as an official / marshal, please drop me a line as we really need people like you who have circuit experience to help with a variety of different tasks.

For those who hold a L2S or higher CAMS license and would like to participate as a Driver on the North Circuit, the relevant paper work is attached. While drivers with a PC or higher level CAMS license driving a log booked vehicle can help on the North Circuit, they are also able to participate on the South Circuit. If you fit into this category and would prefer to assist on the South Circuit, drop me a line and I will forward you the relevant paperwork.

For those whose company would like to assist with a financial contribution, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

If you would like to know a little more about Kids Race Day, you can visit the Website at www.kidsraceday.com.au

OK, paper work completed and I will be there in the morning for a couple of hours to take some kids for a few laps around the track.

This is a chance to start breeding the generation of Skyline fans, so please lend your support.

Sorry- I'm actually now only a maybe depending on if I can get into a tyre place today.

Will do my best to get out there & I'll call if I can make it.

I hope the day goes well and very keen to be involved moving forward.

Kel

It was a good day, had heaps of kids in the car. If any photo's are available I would like to get my hands on them.

Thanks to the organisers for a fun morning.

No worries, I'll be sure to pass it on. Hope you had a blast, your car looked awesome.

I didn't get to take my car out until about 12ish, when the replacement marshalls showed up. I was on Flag 2.8 (the guy waving all the flags) all morning.

Scathing

I’m glad you got out after 12, someone had to fly the SAU banner. I left around then as had a lunch party already organised.

I will be a 100% full day next year; this event has my ongoing support.

The highlight of the day was having a 5 year old girl with cancer jump in the car, she was speechless and absolutely scared out of her wits. I tried to explain to her I was only going to drive slow like mummy and daddy and that I normally drive my little 2 year old around in the car and she was a big girl and had nothing to worry about. I asked her if she knew this song, I hit play on the CD where I had the wiggles playing for my 2 year old. She went off, she told me how she went on the big red car in the gold coast and she was clapping and singing all the way around the track.

I felt magic after the day, it’s good to sometime just do good.

Paul,

That's absolutely awesome mate :)

If I have a car worth taking around the track next year, I'll be there with bells on! :)

R32-M-Spec: Can we please have more advanced notice of this event next year? I'm sure we could get quite a few GTR owners willing to lend their support for this day!

That's awesome. If I had something like that CD, I probably would have popped it on. All the kids were great.

I had a couple of kids that were already a little timid and where I had to back off, and feed in the power slowly. I wish I could have just dropped my rear muffler and gotten some more noise out of it, to give it a racier feel.

I also had another kid (a bit older) who gave me the "go faster" signal when I was carrying about as much pace as I wanted to in the conditions, since Brenton (the clerk of course) had laid down the law on going at a pace where there was even a risk of offs, screechies, drifting etc.

I felt bad only being able to push a fraction harder, but rules are rules. :D

I had a 12 year old who was upset because his 10 year old brother was in the group and therefor nailed to the 80Km hr speed. I made it up to him by doing the whole course at 80km which caused a little tyre scream.

Hey guys

Thanks heaps to OZ GTR for brining his abobroad minded persone monster/weapon/awesome/hot R34 GTR to the day. I enjoyed it more then the kids lol

Merli: Yeah mate sorry about teh short notice, we will have it better timing next year.

It was advertised to a few places and we last minute decided to post on selected forums. Now we know that SAU are interested we will keep you listed for next year and will get an alert early on

Cheers

    • I wanted to try and preserve the front bumper as long as possible, they're not cheap and are made to order in Japan. Taking inspiration from my previous K11 Micra build where I made an undertray for the Impul bumper, I did the same for this BN Sports bumper but a little slimmed down.  This time round I only made a 'skid plate' (if that's the correct wording/term) for just the bumper surface area, the Micra version covered the gap like an undertray. Starting off with a sheet of mild steel approx. 0.9mm thick 4ft x 2ft in size. I traced around the bumper, cut it out and cleaned the edges. Luckily I was able to get two halves from one piece of metal In the video I installed it as is, but I've since then I've removed it to spray and add a rubber edging trim. The rubber trim is suitable for 1-2mm and it's a really nice tight fit. The bolts had to be loosened due to the plates being too tight against the bumper, the trim wouldn't push on I used some stainless M6 flat headed bolts for a flusher finish (rather than hex heads poking down), I believe this style fastener is used for furniture too incase you struggle to source some. The corner's are a little wider, but this may be an advantage incase I get close to bumping it  The front grill got some attention, finally getting round to repairing it. Upon removal one fixing pulled itself out of the plastic frame, one side is M8 that fixes inside of the frame, where as the other side is M5. Not knowing I could get replacements, I cut down an M8 bolt, threaded it inside the frame along with a decent amount of JB Weld.  The mesh was replaced to match the bumper. One hole on the bonnet/hood had to be drilled out to 8mm to accommodate the new stud, once the glue had set it could be refitted. I think the reason the grill was double meshed was to hide the horn/bonnet latch (which makes sense) but I much prefer it matching the bumper Bumper refitted and it's looking much better IMO The Youtube video can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVZP35io9MA
    • The video for the servicing and fuel filter change can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLJ65pmQt44 One of the main jobs I wanted to do before the car officially went on the road, was to remove the awful looking blue silicone hoses. There's nothing wrong with having coloured silicone hoses, but I realise as I'm getting older I prefer monotone engine bays with a splash of colour on the engine cover(s). I cover this in a lot more detail in the Youtube video, so unfortunately there's limited photos of the process. The intercooler, upper radiator, boost vacuum and upper breather hoses were all changed to black silicone with mikalor clamps. The only blue left is a blanking cap at the back of the inlet manifold and the GReddy pulleys (which will be replaced for stock when the cambelt gets replaced) While the intercooler pipes were off I gave them a quick clean/polish too A before photo I do have a replacement air filter on its way. Fuse box covers were painted blue, they're now satin black Another job on the list while the bumper was off, is to add some mesh https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54737966256_99b28bfa30_c.jpg[/img] I was hoping to use some thin wire to secure it, but it seems I've misplaced it and the wire I had was too thick to twist easily. I ended up using cable ties for the time being https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54737131882_c2b7989dcc_c.jpg[/img] Was pleasant to see this https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54737131627_8b2aab13b3_c.jpg[/img] The last thing to do was to fix the front grill and re-mesh that to match but I ran out of time The Youtube video can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4FsF6tgizE&t=23s
