How to fit oil temp probe & find right vac line 4 boost & oil gauges!

Recommended Posts

has anyone fitted a oil temp probe into there car how did you attach it to the sump (punch a hole into it or drill) I know the oil has to be drained. do you remove the sump from the car????

also I am fitting a boost gauge to the car which vac line do I tap off in a R33. can someone point out the right vac line to tap into?

a pic would be good!

cheers:D :):D:wave:

You can stick a t-piece in just about bloody anywhere off the manifold or even the reg at the front of the manifold. Can even T it off of where the standard one goes in. Try different things, you wont go far wrong mate.

Oil temps are pretty easy to put in.

With my VDO oil temp gauge it came with a fitting that replaces the sump plug. You take the sump plug out (put it in a safe stop !!) screw the adaptor fitting in it's spot then screw the oil temp probe into the adaptor and your all done.

You've just got to get the right thread type on the adaptor. I can't remember what it is off the top of my head, but it's quite fine. I rang up Nissan and asked them and told me over the phone.

Really not sure what the difference would be. As long as the probe is fully submerged it should be fine.

I've had no problems with clearance, my car sit's pretty low, and in the 12 months it's been there it hasn't hit anything.

Hi nizmokid, we put the oil temperator probe in the spare fittings on the remote oil filter adaptor on the R32 GTST race car. That way we can measure oil temperature before the cooler and after it.

If you don't have a remote filter, then in the sump plug hole is perfectly OK. I have also seen long probes that go down the dip stick hole.

Hope that helps.

is there some sort of piggyback computer that can be hooked up that can monitor and display oil temp & pressure, water temp, fuel pressure and boost all on the one screen. Like the r34

    • Sorry to hear your HFM BM57 was faulty,  did you contact HFM I would hope they would be at least grateful for the information if there was some sort of manufacturing fault, you would hope they would be sympathetic even if your item was 2 years old if it had never been fitted. May I ask where it leaked from ?
    • Cats are called Bella, and Donna...  Like that poisonous plant And I remember your 2 monsters, I remember making a little bit of wee when you let them out... LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
    • Not to mention they drive like a bucket of bolts! yuck!
