heres the story..

i bolted up the r32 gtst calipers and discs into my car.

Bled the brakes numerous of times and they just arent working, the pistons arent pushing the pad down, therfor arent grabbing the discs.

i bled through the lines, and then though the caliper.

Calipers had no fluid in them at all, is there any speacial things you need to do if they are bone dry?

could the calipers be sized and the pistons are jammed?

This is happing on both sides! :P

any idea whats wrong

thanks

Nate

Hi Nate, I'm not a mechanic but I have watched the job done by mechanics. Always bleed the longest line first progressing to the shortest line. Some mechanics also use a compressor with an adaptor and suck the fluid through the line. Also pistons can become jammed.

Did you check that the pistons moved before you put the callipers on the car? If not, check it before you go any further, just leave the brake hoses connected.

:( cheers :mrt:

PS; sticking used 10 + years old callipers on a car without having them serviced is asking for trouble.

You fitted the calipers to the correct sides of the car? Bleed nipple at the top.

You should be able to simply open the bleed nipple and let gravity do the work of filling the chambers - slow and tedious, but effective.

I wouldn't be surprised if the pistons were siezed in the calipers, though.

    • I mean, the 240i is not a Supra... make it drop a few hundred kg, have a sportscar chassis, clearance for wheels etc... Maybe I want a hardtop Z40i XDrive or something :p I do agree with you though and have long said the B58 Supra/240i/340i/440i is the new R Chassis/JDM90's turbo rocket for mod lovers to ... not always appreciative response lol. Doesn't make it not true though.
    • I will do the build myself but I will be paying for the tune because I don't know how much about that and would rather it be done right and by a professional
    • Will you build and tune it yourself or do you need to pay for labour?
    • Mechanically that's essentially what the M240i is, it's just not pretending it's not a BMW
