  1. I have sent my application form to CAMS today for LS2 licence. How long wil it take to get the licence approved? Will I make it in time? I shuold have the car registered and so on by then. Q. Is it worth while getting the CAMS handbook @ $40+ ? Q. When do you need payment and attendence conformation by?
  2. Thanks to those who offered help (Snowman, clarkey and Funky) It seems I will not require a swap anymore. The TOYO R1R's (great rubber) will pass compliance under the 15 year rule. ** Put car in for compliance TODAY and car has also been booked for a TUNE for Thursaday next week. Not long to go now...
  3. Thanks Shaun, I have PM Snowman but he has Semi-Comp rubber on his spare set of rims that most probably will not pass compliance. Thanks for the offer Snowman. I need other options. My last resort will be to buy some rubber (probably those semi-comp RE55's on sale at Box Hill) but would rather just do a swap because those TOYO's are fine and would like to keep my purchases as low as possible for the next few months (compliance, insurance, tuning... maybe rubber, how the hell am I going to explain this one to the boss!) Help!
  4. Go into any travel agent and get a price.. dont haggel or anything. Then go to another and get a price and then if it is about the same (give or take $100) say you got a quote from X down ther road for -20% she just gave you. Travel agents make nice % mark ups on the wholesale tickets they sell. If they want your business they wil take the remaining % for the sale. Shop around!
  5. I need to ask a favour... I need DOT tyres for compliance and I have Jap TOYO's on at the moment (very good and will be using them in the future). Can I swap / borrow a set of rims with rubber that will fit a GTR by Wednesday morning just for compliance. I will reward the willing person for there troubles and good will. For swap - duration of compliance (245/40/18 ZR) not sure off set. See pic below>> Please either PM me or send me an email ASAP if you can help. [email protected] Thanks in advance.

  7. The only thing I will be riding is my woman or my GTR... sorry to disapoint about any other type of ride... If you boys who live close by want to go on a short squirt SAT or SUN I will be down for that. It's not going to be that bad this weekrnd.
  8. Craig still has not come to check the car out yet... come round with him and check it out. Tell him to give me a call when he is ready because I want to get it complied ASAP. I only wound it up a bit... heheheh I know I should wait for the tune but I was just looking at it all day sitting there. Sounds and feels like it is running solid (now I have the filters on). The clutch is VERY grindy but catches so shap and strong, that is what I need to get used to and the reason I stalled a gizilion times yesterday. My sister drove me down to Laverton and folowed me home...so she gave me the jump start (after running down to the shell and paying $35.00 for jumper leads) When turning onto the Westgate she made it through and I stalled (causing the block) I rang her on my mob and asked her to turn around and save me. Tuesday @ Whithourse (no GTR) I will probably catch the farkin tram. Membership sign up OK that night?
  9. WOW... Got some pods put on today (shitty ones because all the good ones are to big to fit in the limited space) anyway I took it for a REAL drive today (around my backstreets) and OMG does this thing farking scream and kick when it's wound up on boost. Have not stoped smiling all day... can't wait to get it on the dyno for a tune and atwkw reading, then down to Calder
  10. Mate.... This thing was farkin filthy when I picked it up. I've got a week off work, so had the time and quite enjoyed giving it a 4hr clean today. Went through 1/4 can of de-greaser and about 10 rags just on the engine bay. Looks heaps better now.
  11. Got a few more shots in B4 dark - only one worth uploading.

  19. I picked up my R32 GTR today from Laverton It's been a while and I thank everyone who has given me some much needed advise over the last 3.5 months. THANK YOU. 9.00am - Vic Roads to pick up UVP 10.00am Laverton (TOLL) to pick up car.... 10.30am Leaving Laverton... battery was flat and stalled it turning onto Westgate Fwy...what a drama! Caused a road block for about 1km B4 someone gave me a jump. No air filters on so idel was a bit jumpy. Minimum fuel also! Fark it was an awsome drive. Handels like it's on rails (my first drive in any sort of GTR...weird) Played around with the boost a bit... did not take it over 5500 but even then it was kicking HARD (to me anyway) MISSING ITEMS: Missing horn from wheele, missing Nozmo gear nob. BONUS ITEM: Rims are super sweet, thought they were 17" from photos but they are 18" deep dish with 245/40 ZR rubber and good tread. HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY Will post some pics later...
  20. Wish I could tell you... still dont have the car yet! It was meant to be in Melb. yesterday
  21. GTR is 10.646 CM3 @ 1430KG's - Ocean freight to Brissy from Japan was $970.00 AUS - Maybee this is industries attempt at overpromising? All other charges that tag along with shiiping came to a total of $1140 something. Do not have any idea about straight to Melb. But the total cost included road freight to my door, no extra charge for road freight that I could see on the invoice.
  22. Car was sent to Brissy because I think it is far cheaper to ship there and road freight the rest of the way >> to Melbourne. Ocean and Road Freight was just shy of $1000. I was expecting %1700+ so thats a bounus.
  23. Is it just me or is everyone in the import industry overly optimistic when it comes to telling customers how long they can expect to wait for anything. I have gone through the same old story with every step of this process. I received my final invoice on Friday last week and paid it on Monday morning (shipping etc.) Lady at company organising this said "as soon as you pay and payment has been cleared you car will be put on a truck and you should receive it by Thursday - Friday this week at the latest" I called this morning to see if I was lucky enough to get the Thursday delivery... car is still in Brisbane and probably wont be with me now till next Thursday! Fair enough, but if was told this from the start I would not have got up this morning @ 5.00am because I was dreaming about my car arriving today. I reckon these people need to attend a customer satisfaction seminar (I will organise it myself) and learn some basic skills like "OVERPROMISING" and "ANSWER THE PHONE" techniques that I think may be beneficial to the survival of the business. Anyway, nothing a couple of jugs can't temporally fix
  24. You are getting a R32 right? You will not need to rip off any mods if it falls under the 15 y rule unless you are planning on getting 91/92/93 model. Not sure if you have made that clear yet.
  25. Forget getting it in OZ. Why pay all that money for someones overheads and other shit they have paid for to get it to OZ + the profit the shifty bastard wants to make on a crappy example. With your $30K (HEAPS!!!) for a R32 GTR you would pick a primo GTR that you would probably not find in the local market (with all the aftermarket parts already installed etc...) Get an agent and don't buy from auction. You would have approx. $2230000YEN to play with = VERY VERY VERY nice GTR Look for Service History Paperwork, most great examples have been built up and serviced at one garage (don't trust ANYONE that says they can provide it later because once you pay do you think they give a shit.) Be cautious about roll cages. (personal opinion) General wear and tear of interior / pannels (drifting mishaps) I'm no expert, and if I had my time again I would do alot of things different. I got mine for $1130000YEN with the following: T78 Trust FMIC Tien Suspension N1 Exhaust All Gauges (x4) Aftermarket ECU Greddy Oil Cooler Some Nice Rims Car has had a respray... don't really care about that General Condition is very good. Will need to get engine checked out, thats my only concern so far but will hopefully not cost an arm and a leg to get it running like new if not already. Take your time and get a FIRST CLASS example from Japan. The wait can be BAD also.
