  1. anything with the model number sounds homo anyway....we all know that its a 33 etc dunno if we can do it but we might have to be a bit more creative than 'qik' and 'tuf' lol
  2. well, hes got the 4 inch sitting there...might as well use it rather than fork out to get a 3 inch system made up
  3. yeah a lot of funny information floating around with people saying youll lose performance with decreased back pressure lol . Yes, thats the theory with naturally aspirated motors any exhaust you have is gonna have more than enough back pressure since the gases have to pass through our little friend, the turbine wheel. as said by GeeTR, go the biggest you can
  4. Ive got the same noise In my GTR and had it on my gts-t. The noise comes from the gearbox and ive just put it down to my rattly old twin plate you only get it at low engine speeds right?
  5. i put my airbox back on yesterday and bloody hell, how quiet is the thing now? But i can hear sweet sweet spool Did all your holes line up correctly with the bolts?
  6. speak to Tarek from RACESPEC hes a sponsor from this site and does a decent cheap cooler the pic shows the cooler he sells (taken a few years back) and attaches with 2 bolts that screw into 2 threads at the top of the cooler
  7. another thing.... how healthy is the engine? you want all the compression you can get to get those turbos spooling
  8. i think the best thing to do is search all the questions youve been asking here and have a good read up on the capabilities of the rb26 in standard and built guise. youll get a lot more information that way compared to posting here cause people dont feel like constantly repeating themselves all the time. as nick was saying, nengun sell new 2530s. just jap are selling n1 crate engines for $13000 or something
  9. what are you talking about? all the pics bar the second last one look in the same place. Those measurements of: A= 16mm +/- 2mm and B= 14mm +/- 2mm seem to be a winner
  10. just quickly.....2530s will make a crap load more than 300rwkw. Theyve been known to make over 500rwhp and GT-SS kits have made over 320rwkw on numerous occasions have you looked at the rb26 performance thread stickied at the top of this section? Have a search for 'PnBlight' and see what he has achieved with the 2860 garretts that are a lot cheaper than new 2530s hope this helps re: turbo choice
  11. nope its external gate and my brother bought this last month
  12. my brother is putting his gt35r onto his rb30 and i think this is a far better option (see pics) the reason is that the thicker cast iron manifold will keep the heat in with less radiance, which promotes quicker spool as the energy is still very high inside the manifold thin walled stainless steel radiate too much heat and in turn a bit of energy is lost. Also, the longer the runners the more distance there is for the exhaust gas to radiate heat along its length = more energy lost. The last thing you want is increased lag with a turbo this size combined with a relatively low rev limit of the 30. the pics show the standard rb30 cast manifold which has been power ported and modified to accept an external gate. Keeps it a low mount and able to fit between the strut towers.
  13. that would be 100 degrees celcius
  14. those increments are 20 degrees, therefore 90 degrees is the mark that you say youre not going past which is good. My oil temp has never been over that mark My original turbos are still going strong after 17 years on 14 psi. Just take care of them. I only boost the car once the oil temp is above 70 degrees which is enough time to also make sure the oil pressure is correct and that the ceramic wheels have had enough time to heat up so theyre not as brittle as when cold. If you look after things, they will last Having said that, you dont know what life the car has lived previously. I bought my car knowing full well that at some stage i was gonna get a rebuild and some new turbos. The longer i can prevent the expenditure the better for me
  15. Excellent! thanks for the advice jaffri
  16. look for eveness across the cylinders. You dont really want more than 10psi variance between the highest and lowest reading an acceptable lower limit would be 140psi and 160 for a new motor
  17. wow this thread has surprised me a little. I didnt know there would be too many skylines in malaysia Im about to head to KL in a few weeks.... Could anyone tell me some places to buy new/2nd hand parts and accessories for my GTR? names, places, brands?
