hey guys just got back from 2 weeks getting wasted, travelling and skiing in new zealand. to those of you that haven't been over to the land of the small fat ugly non-flying bird you'd be really surprised at the cars over there! subaru's outnumber falcodores on a ratio of about 3 to 1 which is so frigging refreshing! r32 4door non turbos are about as plentiful as r33 gtsts here in australia. with the nature of jap import pricing in nz, it doesn't surprise me in the slightest that people are chosing these cars over your similarly priced 2nd hand camrys/magnas/falcodore's etc etc. levins/legacys/delicas/lines/soarers are all over tyhe place! its amazing! and i also noticed the nature of the car culture over there is incredibly different. as opposed to australia, where most cars that get taken out and cruised are somewhat respectable, there are HEAPS of stock, sh1thouse cars that parade the streets. your average rust infested 80's corolla with schticker rice and big stereo brigade is well in force. having said that, i 1) saw and 2) HEARD the most incredible sounding bmw hellrot red-ish r32 gtr on a christchurch backstreet ever. moster black rims (weds sports i reckon) the thing was completely mental! huge completely deafening external gate blowing flames out the bottom of the car with smoke pluming off all 4 in 3rd (after doing the same, except more violently in 1st and 2nd). must've been making obscene amounts of power! the sound this thing made was frightening. to those that can relate (sauact dyno day read: luch's beastie) it was the kind of noise only a really nuts output car can make... something with rebuilt everything and big compressor(s) sort of noise. i'm tempted to dip over to the sdu nz darkside to see if i can find this beastie's owner!!! anyway, i'm back in town, so i'll seeing you guys round the traps no doubt. d

wtf nik!!!! haha

theres just something about the rain. all of a sudden, people either drive too slow and cause problems that way, or too fast, not knowing what wet, oily and slippery roads can do and they seem to instantly become 100% retarded. that and when its wet, every pimply-faced 17year old commonwhore p-plater with a monster tach and a backwards cap thinks they've become schumacher... bloody rain... :soap: d

well, that may be so- the gtr is a wonderful track car (although still driftable with the right setup), but thats beside the point! even if i owned a gtst, ae86, s13, cefiro... whatever... i'd still be out there cutting lap times, not measuring my driving skill in how much of an angle i am through the next corner! not that hanging the tail out isn't fun... just not my preferred method of getting from point to point. 2c d

oh, and spotted. gunmetal 32 r turning sideways onto canberra avenue giving it a bootful near manuka shell. lots of smoke and noise. looked very fu(king cool, whoever that was! hehe
-
well depends on which form of motorsport you're talking about. if it involves taking corners as sideways as possible, i'll pass. i prefer a much more pure, talent-orientated and satisfying form of driving, just quietly! hehehe the plan is to take her to wakefield in the near future! pretty strapped for the folding stuff at the mo and i'm barreled up at work lots, but one day... sooner rahter than later with any luck... d
-
aaah andy you and your bloody schneonzz. we need the bling patrol to pay you a visit methinks. where be them now? and if you ever buy iceled's i'll disown you forever. saw those bloody things on a white mirage/droid kit/vaults in civic on the weekend and i nearly vomited (and i did later on that night anyway hehe). d

hehe i understand fully. too many people jump onto forums and regurgitate what they've read/heard/created in their heads! either way... good for you dude! hehe. if you're happy with the d2's, thats all that matters! nick reckons his teins aren't flexible enough. he's had them rebuilt and they improved out of sight but still thinks they're too firm. his beastie is pranged at the mo and he's bent lots under the front arches, so chances are he'll have the excuse he needs to go out and invest in the quadrant/drummond set up that he keeps telling me is too expensive. haha d -
profound andy! lol. glad you gave us an insight into that goldfish memory of yours! heheh jks

given, they aren't the lightest rim in the world, but for an OEM rim, they're not bad! evens till, they're cetrainly lighter than your average bling roller and most of the time lighter than cheap knock-off "JDM-racing-style" volk/enkei/work/etc etc fakie. i picked up a rim the other day that looked quite nice (smoked gunmetal-ish colour 6x square spokie thing) and looked lightweight, but was frickin' heavy! it was a 17x9 and a good couple of kilos heavier than my 33 rims... at least... d

lol beau. its ok dude. we all make the wrong decisions from time to time hehehee jks d

steve, to confirm your queries, the guy who owned these shockies (he now runs teins which he also thinks are average) bought them new and had them in his car for about 6months from memory. i think the set-up was done by a very reputable bloke here in canberra by the name of chris eldridge (inline steering and suspension). chris is a bilstein/eibach distributer for australia so given, his views are probably swung somewhat as he has a vested interest in his own product, but he is honest and the quality of his work is second to none. he does all my chassis work too. rest assured they were set-up properly. this guy (nick) had them re-adjusted about half a dozen times while they were in his car and they demonstrated changing characteristics all the time. he constantly referred to his shocks as having a mind of their own! maybe he lucked-out with his set and they were simply a bad batch or whatnot. how have you found yours? you happy with them. and re: location of manufacture. i wholeheartedly stand by my belief that it dosn't matter WHERE they're made, but WHO they're made by. it doesn't matter if they're japanese or korean or german or american, if they're produced with quality materials and workmanship, thats where the difference counts. 2c d -
nice guys mark and blueprint. met them both last friday!! hehe

i thought i heard jayce say it was getting some more sting to match the bling... but could be wrong. turbo swap?? d

no a rich tune won't "damage" anything. its unsightly, and is no good for power, but at least your beast wont lean out and ping!! i agree with the s-afc route. if you've gotta "bandaid" it until you can go programmable management, the safc makes sense. just sell it on when you do get the pfc.

well bloody said! that thing is horific if you ask me! d
