Choices For Turbos Which Is Best?
Kanaric replied to yoshiii335's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Lots of people were saying GTRS. Can you get a GTRS and fit a rear housing from a R32 or S1 R33 on it for stock fitment? LOTS of cheap GTRS where I live. -
ahh dynos that only show road speed and not RPM annoy me. Only see these on Australian sites....

What Other Performance Mods To Make A Better R32 Gts-T?
Kanaric replied to yoshiii335's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Where are you? Canada? It would not be hard to keep up with Chargers and Challengers, lol. Most are V6s, most of the V8 ones are R/Ts which are 4000lb cars with 375 crank hp and 5 speed auto trans. Modded STIs or stock? If you want to keep up with those cars you might be able to do it with your mods now + powerfc and boost controller. However you probably will be needing a turbo upgrade like you said you are going to get. I don't see what you need to ask here, everything is obvious. Brakes, tires, suspension, etc you have everything else. IDK what laws are in Japan but on my car in the US I have 235/45/17 f and 255/40/17 r setup on Kumho Ecsta XS tires which most local autocross people use and they are exellent and inexpensive. Only needed to roll the rear. Overkill. You live in Japan as a citizen or english teacher or are you like some American in the military or something? I wouldn't own this car if I lived in Japan and wasn't in the US military, the amount you have to pay isn't worth what you get in a RB20 car as there are many many many better options. Unless you are american and want to bring it back with you you have picked the wrong car to make massive power and drag race new Camaros and Mustangs. -
how much boost can you run on such a high comp engine? 4psi? I remember of 350Zs people were running like 7.
-
Well I mean you can give an aproximation or a starting point. It by no means needs to be perfect but would need to be enough to test functionality or drive to a dyno.

I have the same symptoms in my R32. Would drive normally like 90% of the time, then occastionally would lose all power at 3000+rpm. Off and on, i would get power 1 second, lose all the next. Sometimes on and off repeat. Then I would sit in lower rpms for a bit and it would drive fine. Now it is far worse. Diring a drive around town it will cut all power above 3000 and not let me rev above it, then it would allow me again only to cut all power again as if i completely let off the throttle and then it would stall out going 40mph losing all power steering and power brakes with it which led to a serious oh shit! moment. I'm fairly certain it's the AFM. I accidently drove the car around with it unplugged once and it drove exactly the same way. Wouldn't rev above 3000 rpm etc. When the car would work it was working fine, I did 4 laps on a track with it when it was a minor issue without it happening once so i'm fairly certain it's not fuel pump, coils, or anything of that nature.

So it looks like it should be ok, thanks for that link saved to my favorites. Hopefully I have no issues with the shit fuel they have here. (equal to 95 or 96 of how you guys measure it) Reading that FAQ looks like I might, good resource that. edit: Any suggestions on how much timing i should pull on such shit gas?

I believe my MAF is going bad and I have a powerFC i haven't installed yet. I understand it will run fine with the base map that is on there as a stock car but if I change to a Z32 MAF and select that in the powerfc will it still be ok to drive or will I have to get a tune? Reason why I ask is that if I replace the maf it's going to be a Z32 maf, i don't want to have to order a stock R32 maf only to replace it soon after getting the car running properly, and I want to make sure it will run fine with that if I select that in the powerfc so that I can see if that resolves my problems. Also I know probably someone is going to suggest to borrow a MAF from someone. I have 1 of only 2 skylines in my state that I know of, I lived in the US, so I can't do that. Thanks for the help ahead of time.

lol i'm in the US unfortunately otherwise I would take your offer. Sorry guys should of been more specific than just "fan switch", that was kind of vague. edit: thanks got the part number.
-
Anyone know what the part number is for the fan switch? Thanks.

Did it do this all the time or only occasionally like it's doing for me? I would think if it were a fuel filter it wouldn't just stop and be fine for hours.

Found this thread and am bumping it because I have a similar problem. I'll describe it in more detail though. This happens occasionally, and only early in any drive if it does. Not like right out of my garage but 1 or 2 minutes in. I will probably happen at a frequency of about once every 3 times i drive the car. Once it happens it will happen until i let it sit out of boost for a while and it will be ok. I even did 5 runs at autocross after this, problem did not crop up. How violent it is depends on how much throttle i'm using. If I hold it down as i'm trying to accelerate and not let it if it reminds me as if someone who is just learning to driving a manual is driving the car. Off-boost it doesn't do this. It only does it at RPMs in which the turbo is building or holding pressure. Same recommendations? I don't have another AFM to try otherwise I would but I could install my powerfc and put in a Z32 AFM.

Sorry if i'm not using the proper vernacular, from the US. So i'm replacing the leather on the shift and ebrake boot. Shifter was easy to figure out but the brake not so much, what do you have to do to get that off? edit: sorry forgot to say it's a R32 GTS-t

Is there a bumper I can buy for this car that doesn't require cutting for intercooler and also doesn't require cutting the bumper bar like the GTR one does? Cut the one I have now, 89 GTS-T, and it was a pain in the ass and looks like shit. Would the later version of the Type M bumper work? I have the Blitz SE intercooler. Thanks for the help.

Installing Intercooler, Question
Kanaric replied to Kanaric's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
lol I did that before posting this. Not disconnecting them idk why I didn't think to do that but googling. -
So I don't know a lot about cars and what things are but i'm installing a FMIC on my R32 GTS-T and there are these discs with a screw in the middle near the latch in front of the radiator. Are these horns for the car? I need to remove them in order to get this on it seems and I just want to know what they are first. Sorry for the dumb question, like I said my car knowledge isn't a lot.

Wheel Sizes & Offsets For Skylines
Kanaric replied to Sydneykid's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Buying a set of wheels for autocross in the US, looking based solely on what tires I can fit and offset etc not looks because of this. It's a R32 GTS-t, I want to fit 235/45/17 in front and 255/45/17 in rear. If it can be done without rolling fenders it would be a bonus, but i'm not against doing that. Most of the people fitting tires like that seem to have LMGT2 (+35 front +38 rear on 17x8/x17x9) and fit 255/40 in rear and i'm looking to see if there is an offset that would be better. Trying to fit max tire within reason for this. Not looking to pull fenders or modify them aside from rolling. -
Wheel Sizes & Offsets For Skylines
Kanaric replied to Sydneykid's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I live in the US where there are literally no skylines. I have no idea how this will look since the only car i've seen is my own and i can't find a pic of it on google. I just want to make sure it will look good in person, I want to find silver wheels but I can't right now and am debating if I should buy these ones now because they are in immaculate condition and I don't want to pass them up. Thanks. I tried google image search but seaching for 'white wheel black skyline' doesn't seem to work very well, lol. -

Thinking of getting LMGT2s for my GTS-T. Only ones for sale near me are white. Would white wheels like that look good on a black R32? I usually go for like metallic colors.... -
WTB 17x8 +35 and 17x9 +38 wheels. Have to be willing to ship wheels to the US. I will pay for that of course.

Since I have only the ECU i'm sure I need some other things that would normally come with it. Anyone have any idea on what they are?

From the United States, Las Vegas area, and have been considering importing a R31 or R30 so I came here to read about the car. I would like a XB Falcon or a Chrysler Valiant Charger but have no budget for that, like Australian spec cars quite a bit. Always been a Nissan fan since a kid but only have had a 350z. Have a '12 WRX now for my daily car and a Moto Guzzi Griso for a bike. My WRX has some simple mods: Perrin Top Mount Intercooler Forge BPV Catless downpipe AEM Intake and obviously a dyno tune Here is some American silliness. This is a smog test county I live in, they just test it with the OBD2 and since mine won't report a failure due to the tune I have I can run this car catless. With any car 21 years or older you don't have to test. Outside of my county there is no smog test at all and you can register your car there to avoid it. I always heard your laws were fairly restrictive it's just weird to me that they ban all foreign cars here newer than 25 years yet they don't care what you do to a car if it's domestically approved unless you live in California. Anyways I was lurking your forum and decided to make an account. Lots of good info here.
