  1. Good luck Shane! We will be out with the M Coupe soon.
  2. Bolt in cages or rollbars are not ANDRA compliant. Listen to those in this thread who have actually done it and obtained ANDRA tech inspection approval.
  3. I can see rules changing to allow fuel injection and turbos in the near future!
  4. I think Bilstein and hard launch go together!
  5. It's true that some ANDRA officials aren't too interested in Sport Compact, but I have to tell you that the slack attitude to water box and other details happens all the time in regular ANDRA meets, too. And I've seen ANDRA officials bugger up Top Fuel runs at the start line more than once .. it does happen. Regarding the error about putting the black separator board on the tree for eliminations, there would have been no rematch or re-running of the races if the same had happened in regular ANDRA racing. Let's not be paranoid!
  6. Congrats on the new PB for trap speed .. that's a monster top end!
  7. It's no laughing matter. Also BMWs are now to be given a 150 lb weight advantage.
  8. Yes, received confirmation from O'Halloran today that there will be a weight penalty of 150 lbs on all Skylines from 1/1/2006 onwards.
  9. Big credit to Brett and Adrian for making the final round! Well done guys! Brett you've got the results on the board and that can never be taken away from you!
  10. That's it. It's all DYO anyway, as long as you can qualify in the top 8 or top 16 cars.
  11. Fantastic pass! It's not easy to run a 7 second pass in any type of car.
  12. 4.4.7.1 being the rolebar rather than rollcage for street registered sedans with a fixed steel roof. It would seem to be an inconsistency, at least in terms of the recent ruling that for private track hire purposes "street registered" vehicles must run 11.000 or slower. Look I am one of the people who has an ANDRA approved street registered vehicle quicker than 11.000. So I am right there with the people who think this latest ruling needs to be looked at in a bit more detail.
  13. ANDRA considers cars running as quick as 11.000 as stret cars ... hence Super Street (S/ST) cutoff at 11.000. After that you are shuffled into Super Sedan (SS) and you are now officially a "racecar". I think that in the past street cars running 10 or quick was not that common. Time moves on.
  14. I can see a brief overview would be helpful. ANDRA is split into four groups: Group One: Pro start (one flash of ambers then green). Everyone starts at the same time, the first one to the finish line wins. Real drag racing. Top Fuel, Top Doorsmaller, Pro Stock, Top Alcohol, Top Bike, Pro Stock Bike. Group Two: Full tree start, class indexes. This is a bit complicated, but basically a national class index (ie an ET) is set. If a competitor runs under the class index, an Index Control is applied to their personal index, being half the difference between their ET and the class index. So if the class index is 8.50 and you run 8.00, then for the next round your index will be 8.25. The first to the finish line wins, but you always have your index in the back of your mind. Competition Eliminator, Super Stock, Competition Bike, Supercharged Outlaws. Group Three: Full tree start, individually nominated handicaps (Dial Your Own DYO). The most common form of drag racing, this is where you nominate your dial in and the tree stars each racer according th their dial in (ie the racer with the slower ET dial in will go earlier than the other racer). The first to the finish line wins, except if you go under your dial in (ie your ET is quicker than your dial in ET) which is called a break out. If you break out you lose. Modified Eliminator, Super Sedan, Super Street, Modified Bike, Junior Dragster. Group Four: Pro start, fixed class index of 9.900. Super Gas is a special class all on it's own allowing a pro start and with a fixed index of 9.900. If you run quicker than 9.900 then you break out and lose. Lots of veruy good racers in this class. In the Sport Compact family of ANDRA we have: Sportsman Classes (DYO): This is where SFWD, SRWD, AM, FR, OM and SM lie. All DYO handicap starts, each with their own class rules. Equivalent to Group Three classes (in fact they are SS/BB and SS/CC direct equivalents). Pro Classes (Pro Start): PRO/F and PRO/R. Pro start, equivalent to Group One Pro Stock. ET Bracket (DYO): Unqualified Sports Compact Sportsman cars go here to die. Regarding potential changes to SM (Sport Modified) class, either a class index with full tree/DYO or a fixed index with Pro Start are options. Sport Compact is in it's infancy and promoters, spectators, racers and ANDRA want to see regular larger fields before they start getting fussy and potentially scaring off new competitors.
  15. DYO is all about preventing racing becoming too expensive for most to compete. DYO can have it's own moments of excitement, but there's something intrinsically wrong with sandbagging, buttoning off and braking during a drag race. I think it's a good concept but it can have awkward moments, especially during the infancy of Sport Compact where field sizes are so low. You can get really embarassing ETs for class winners which does not provide excitement for the spectators. In my experience 99% of spectators do not understand DYO or the handicap starts. If they were better educated they might understand some of the excitement as the quicker car tries to hunt down his competitor and all the drama about should I or shouldn't I at the top end. Even fewer understand index classes, but then there are none in Sport Compact at the moment.
  16. I think it should be the same as the NHRA Sport Compact at 3.5 litres maximum limit.
  17. Welcome to Sport RWD, the class for street cars. Because all street cars have welded in six point roll cages, parachutes, tailshaft loops, ballistc blankets on the bellhousing, external battery isolator switches, five point harnesses and wheel studs. :-)
