  1. I understand that, but like I said Super Street (S/ST) is the regular ANDRA street class equivalent, and slicks are fine in that class. So what's the difference?
  2. Sean, it's right there in the rule book. You can run a four point rollbar instead of a six point cage, in a sedan down to 10.000. RTA and highway patrol are much more accepting of a rollbar than a rollcage.
  3. I don't understand the reason why drag racing slicks are not allowed in Sport RWD, et al. S/ST allows slicks, why not SR, SF? It is drag racing after all, not sit and spin.
  4. That leads to Sport Compact 'racecars" that are slower than cars at a WSID street meet. Boring. We want spectators to come and watch the action, not be lulled to sleep by street cars with full interiors, hood liners, matching OEM seats, etc, etc.
  5. That's the current rules. Cleverly designed to ensure that the SPORT RWD bracket creates fun viewing for the spectators with blistering 15 second passes! Seriously, the weight breaks must come down in the future.
  6. You can run a welded four point bar instead of a roll cage, good down to 10.000. You keep your Holinger gearbox and use an SFI spec ballistic blanket. Problems solved.
  7. Agreed, except for your driveline (clutch, tailshaft, diff, etc).
  8. Check water level, fluid levels, oil quality. Drain washer bottle, run fuel tank down to 1/8th tank (98 RON fuel plus a shot of octane booster). Remove EVERYTHING you cna feasibly take out of your car to reduce weight. For RWD car, increase front tyre pressure to 55psi and drop 10psi out of rears (remember to put them back to street spec after event).
  9. Holy shit, that's awesome! Monster trap speed, too .. and plenty more to come with only a 1.5x short time. Love it!
  10. We ran 10.7 @ 134 and they were adamant we were out of there until we had a full tech inspection with cage, etc. The senior ANDRA person at the timeslip room asked what time I ran .. when she heard 10.7 she just shook her head. I got the impression if it was like a 10.9 she might have been persuaded. I get on quite well with the WSID and ANDRA people there, quite a good bunch I've found. I've also noticed that they a much easier to get along with once you have an ANDRA licence and even more so when you start working towards a full tech inspection compliant sedan. Brett, I assume you're going to spoil that street car and get a six point ANDRA cage? Are you going to get Greg Schultz to do your tech inspection?
  11. I got booted first time I went under 11.000 .. no appeal for one more pass was given a millisecond's consideration!
  12. To get good results on such a rotten night and on the car and driver's first meeting is fabulous. I am sure there will be much more to come. On a side note, that information about RB30 bottom end builds is really top notch. Well done to all contributors!
  13. Dirty Sanchez strikes again! Well done mate! Can't get any worse air either.
  14. Keep at it! As your launches get better your short time will drop and your ET will get quicker.
  15. Boo! How come I can't play? It's not like there's a BMW M Coupe forum with only 20 of them in Australia!
  16. Agreed, it's not useful if people can willy nilly post their fully sik fantasies. Only verified timeslips should go on.
  17. Dirty Sanchez .. you really know how to ask the tough questions mate! We are closing in on this phase of the build now.
  18. Keith, just thought I'd let you know I watched this movie a couple of times today with great enjoyment! Look forward to better ETs in the near future.
  19. Everything that breaks is just an opportunity to make your car stronger ;-)
  20. You can't run again until you demonstrate how you've fixed your noise problem. They can be quite strick on noise.
