  1. Not sure where you are, but most wheels can be reapaired a mate had 2 18's repaired (bent on inside) for $100ea, from a place that Bob Jane deals with. The place was in Melbourne and they did a good job, if there was a requirement to have cosmetic damage fixed the price could be a lot more but the dent was quite considerable. I wouldn't rush to change them...
  2. I am sure it will, just make sure you use good fuel and maybe watch (and listen) what you are doing for a while. A bottle or 2 of Octane booster might help in the early days too. 1 dyno tune (run) on a cool day, will also help.
  3. I quite like them as they have a 'light' look to them. Would look quite smart on the V35 in Silver, which is what they are on, correct? Good work, where did you get the car?
  4. Thanks... will do.
  5. Cheers... Perhaps he will see this thread and make contact with me... which would be easier for me!!
  6. So do you have anyone in mind to help you?
  7. Will you have anytime spare, shall I pm my thoughts?
  8. Hi all, I did a search and this has not been covered as such. Can anyone suggest that if they used a Broker that they were happy with? Should I steer clear of anyone in particular? Are there any horror stories? We all have to be careful about what is said, but I value everyone's opinion and I have a couple of names, one in Perth and one in Melbourne, but is there anyone else? Can I find out who you guys used and what you felt about the process?
  9. Sounds like the Senior Apprentice, isn't quite a full mechanic... is that school calling??? Good news for you? BLISTC 178rwkw... wow, that is a lot, what do you have bolted on?
  10. So you follow an Australian Standard for the Alarm install? Is that a document from the Australian Standard Website and if so what number is it? I always thought that Alarms were just installed as per the Alarm instructions...
  11. Well you have come to the right place then...
  12. Sorry to be a pain Chris, but what is the Standard that needs to be followed when installing the immobiliser, is it quoted in the ADR you stated?
  13. good work and great advice... still think the first step would be ensuring the right oil is inside.
  14. Good point FlyingEL, I think it is a belt too and yes once it starts too slip, more gas will make it worse, just like a clutch...
  15. I think he said 4500rpm at 100km/h, which to me seems that he has an issue... Might be a simple fix though.
  16. I'm guessing and if it isn't Oil (which is my number 1 pick) and without seeing the wiring diagram but a loose or bad connection and/or faulty speed sensor or input to the Gearbox Computer. Could be a multitude of stuff unfortunately, but you have to start with the easy stuff first such as Oil and then check continuity of all the connections...
  17. Without specifically knowing anything about that box, I suggest you need to find out what oil you need, as this could be an issue. As per a Motorbike with a wet clutch plate, the wrong oil can cause no ends of problems, especially slipping. If you have the wrong oil you can destroy these clutch plates and from how I understand the box is not that well known in Oz, as for repairs! Research the oil and make sure that is the type inside, would be my first step.
  18. Cheers Chris As for Carwings, I doubt they will travel from Japan too help Not sure on your 'wanting english' comment, but I will be looking at as late as I can afford, however the TV/DVD and general mods of them was always going to be a compromise, to ensure that I can make them work! I personally don't care too much about English Nav, but if it has TV/DVD, it has too work in Oz. The Navigation I can live with not working. Bluetooth, would be good, but a lot of Headunits are starting to get that inbuilt so that isn't even necessary. Please tell us more... it is harder to play with Navi/Radio/Cruise, on the V36, correct?
  19. You will have to splice a power converter in, as I would imagine that there would not be any 5V power source there... You might be able to use a Mobile Phone travel plug (12V to 5V) but it might take a while to find one the right amperage. Why do you want to do this? You might need some professional help to achieve a 'safe' result.
  20. So Carwings is the version of Navi system in the car and there will be a button with that written on it, in the roof console or near the screen? Correct...? If I see a Bluetooth logo, I should potentially stear clear of it, especially if I want the Navi to work in English (after the Russian/English conversion process of course). Doesn't the Bluetooth unit (Late) interface with the Radio, or does it pick up on the Screen? So early is generally considered mid 2004 model, as some late 04's have the later system?
  21. PM him and he will respond within a day or so. He is on here often enough and he will help, I am sure..
  22. Good things come to those that wait... So what happens if it is a late 2004 model, will it work potentially, or are the systems a lot different?
  23. In the meantime, vinyl cut letters. Or get some plastic spacers (so the plate doesn't touch the bumper) from a hardware store, some trim 'clip' nuts and some long screws and put your plate on temporarily. If you were really keen, you could also make some alloy plate adaptor plate so the original plate holes are picked up and you don't have to drill the plate.
