  1. forgot to ask, what kind of knock readouts are you getting from those BMW engines? i would imagine it would be quiet as a mouse.
  2. safe is 6psi. But most people run them at 10psi without any dramas
  3. If you find 3 or 4 guys that need this done then organise something I will come down for a cruise. Otherwise, contact trent (URAS on the forums) @ Status Tuning... He has the Gizzmo K-MON as well so he should be able to do the same as i would and I hear he is very reasonable on his prices.
  4. Just put it so the bolts are in the middle then you can start it and use the timing light Yus this is correct. My throttle body has both the connectors as well cos my was auto once.
  5. Your CAS is on the wrong way, turn it around so the plug will fit. plug the tps plug into the bottom plug on the throttle body. leave the other un plugged. try that
  6. Was going to ask you the same thing. My engine has to come out of the car this weekend, few things going on thats put this project on hold for a little while. Once the new ecu goes in il be back to running E85
  7. Exactly. I purchased the Gizzmo K-Mon to actually find out whats going on with my engine because it was knocking no matter what i was doing and I did not want to break my engine. After using this I have learnt shitloads about knock and the power fc knocking situation, at $1,200 retail its a big price to pay but my engine is not exactly standard so its good insurance. One thing i noticed is that I can run more then 8deg timing on full load with NO knock, even though the PFC was showing anywhere from 70 - 150 knock. So yeah I have much more power that can be extracted from the engine. PM me if you want to have this baby put on your car and given out a knock reading on the street or on a dyno... Something like this Have a look, the reading is not going over 35ish... with my PFC knock sensors on that tune it was showing 100+
  8. What if your car is not knocking ? I keep saying this but i will say it again.. STANDARD POWER FC KNOCK SENSORS ARE SHIT & DO NOT WORK PROPERLY sent u a PM
  9. so i should induce detonation at low rpm, then tune the frequency till it reads really high knock levels? did you see my screen shot? does that look like a normal power run to you?
  10. I can have another look at it tonight, fix the idle up and play with your cold start for you. give me a call the same time as last night
  11. How did you go getting to work in the morning ? was cold start ok ?
  12. for $150, i will use a Gizzmo Knock Monitor on your car and do a few runs on the dyno and send you some graph's of the the real noise your engine is making. A screen shot something like this, Then you know that your engine is running fine. The only way to get a decent tune from your engine is to turn the knock sensors off and tune it with torque read outs. Tuning a engine with a k-mon monitoring knock and not the power fc knock sensors allways see's extra power. In my car i was making 30kw more on the same boost levels because I was getting knock spikes of 80 with the pfc knock sensors and only 35 with the K-MON. Sad to say, but 70% of you guys are running around on de-tuned engines.
  13. Gizzmo Launch interface 2 step ignition cut still available!
  14. thats the issue, he needs to put it on 2 .dec
  15. thanks for the interesting read
  16. so Ray did have influence on the new G4 chip, i guess this explains why the VIPEC came out before the G4's I cannot wait to get mine!!
  17. i have a gizzmo launch interface i with shift light, complete with adapter harness so you dont have to wire it in (plug in) $400
  18. yeah i will give him a call once its all going, i think he is more interested in the Gizzmo K-Mon though
  19. okay, looks as if the difference i can see is that the TFelectronics version is a modified version which makes it a true plug in. Here are pics, as you can see the Vipec has a Nissan plug on the board and this would mean the board would have to be totally re-designed to do this. This one is the TF Electronics board... And this one is the link adaptor So basically, TF are doing the same with the Link as what he was doing with the Autronic plug in's.. taking a ECU and engineering it to work directly with the OEM wiring harness - take the guts out of your ecu and put this one inside it and you have a true plug in. So yes the nissan plug in's would be a different ecu, with the same software and chip. But the other wire in jobs, like the V88 ?? Who knows. For me, the V44 plug in. I am going to bite the bullet and say that the extra price might be worth what your getting, But stay tuned.. we will see how it goes when i get my ecu soon! Then I will make judgement for sure.
  20. this may be the case, the extra $400 may be worth TFelectronics known good support + the direct true plug version. Seems like they are trying to hide something that may be a good thing??
  21. so the question has come up, are they the same. I just downloaded both software from both sites and they are identical. We were told software was different. Also checked the price tag, seems as if the vipec is around $400 more expensive. What would be the reason for this if they are the same? they are looking like the same product so far. what i can make of it, seems as if the links use a adaptor harness for the plug ins where the vipec has the nissan plug on the board itself. Is that what we are paying the extra $400 ? a true plug equiv of the link? that was developed by TFelectronics?
  22. probly just the launch control at this stage. i like my turbo
  23. pm me the workshop ? how much were you quoted for this tune ?
  24. i really want a sweet japanese girl who doesnt care that i am into jap cars... can you help?
