djvoodoo afaik, the epa test isn't for roadworthiness, just emissions. unless someone who has been thru this cares to answer? after going through nearly the whole EPA thread in the VIC section, I can't seem to find the exact answer i'm looking for!

do i need to remove the front and dump pipes? i have a stocker 'zorst i will put on the car tommorow. the other thing i forgot to mention was that i don't have a return flow cooler, my piping runs over the top of the fan so i have no snorkel connected to airbox.. anyone think this is ok?

god damn it. get home just a few moments ago and check mail... apparently i have been "spotted" by an EPA officer and now am required to take my car in for emissions test (not noise), I went through the head f**k of one of those recently... am i screwed basically? the car in question isn't heavily modified, almost stock in fact. what happens with things like this? i have read that some standard cars have not even passed, now im worried. the mods on my r33 are as follows: hi performance panel filter (stock airbox) fmic 3" catback + front and dump standard turbo avc-r do i need to remove everything ? thanks.

imho, if the car isn't being tracked very regurlarly, driven daily etc. a heavy duty will suffice. it also depends on the mod level and power of the car. a friend of mine is in the process of replacing his clutch in an '05 STI, the workshop recommended he get an exedy standard spec clutch for his 6 speed. He runs 220awkw. According to the workshop, especially with an awd system that installing a heavy duty will increase strain on the rest of his driveline. Rebuilding a 6spd STI box costs an arm and a leg... I would rather change my clutch more frequently than have to go through the process of a rebuild! remember the weakest link is what will go first... so generally speaking the driveline will cop more of a beating as opposed to the clutch when you upgrade to a brass button or stronger. again there are many variables in it. good luck.

other than checking the relay it has to be related to the wiring... do you know if they were working prior to neons being removed? if so start from the wiring with that. an auto elec should be able to sort that out for you fast and cheap, doesn't sound like a huge problem. good luck.

go back to the original owner of the car... if he gave you a rwc with the car like that big trouble for the mechanic that signed it off...

guys I've taken my centre console off to replace my handbrake as I broke the ratchet... how do I remove the thread that sits in the cable and the silver bit that connects to where the wire goes down lower I will post a pic and show you as I don't know what it's called.. in the middle of it now and can't work it out

Might pay to just give them a call and ask I suppose. Nismoid - Your idea is good too, my only problem with it is being able to test the engine before buying it, especially if it's out of the vehicle, can it still be comp. tested?

Hey guys, I've searched and searched but can't find any information that tells me exactly what I need to know. Harmonic balancer on my car has come loose over time therefore destroying the keyway on the crank snout. As opposed to me ripping engine out and fixing that particular problem, I may as well give her a freshen up while she's out. I don't want anything wild, a standard rebuild would be perfect for me as my car is daily driven. Eventually down the track I see myself possibly fitting a hi-flow, ecu etc. No wild power though. Id just like that peace of mind knowing that I have an as new motor. Wreckers quote me 2.5 to 3k in and out for a replacement, im guessing for maybe 1 or 2k more I may as well rebuild my motor and know its new. I can't get one straight opinion on who to see in Victoria, prices, whats involved etc. So I ask the guru's here, what am I looking at price wise for a standard rebuild on an RB25DET, drive in drive out. I ask you guys because I would like opinions on trusted workshops that you would recommend I do this. Do it once, do it proper. Sorry for the long post but I want as much info as I can get. Read too many horror stories about people getting engines rebuild only to blow up on them 10k later! Thanks, Evan

i was going to do this to my car tonight... i run 12psi with an avc-r it isnt too bad... but can feel R&R... will lower it with a mate tonight to 10 and see what happens.
