  1. Hey all. I am currently getting my RB26DETT rebuilt. i am undecided if i should get my crank nitrated. I am going to get it ballanced ergardles. I also have a few questions... My aim is to get 600hp out of the engine. so i know in the long run it would be worth it. however, i dont know what the specs are on the standard crank, and if i should worry about it now. so if anyone knows, can they tell me... Where abouts in Melbourne is a place that i can get this done and also what are the prices that are getting around? ...I WANT my engine bullet proof... thanks JUSTIN.
  2. just thought i'd kick this up again. I am doing a RB26 rebiuld, my mates a engine builder, or a mechienest, as he calls himself... his quote to me was just shy of $5600. (inc GST) I bought a head for $2000 thats is worth about $4000 (all the work and parts.) I also bought new turobs, oil filter relocation kit, Power FC, and billet conrods. thats over $13000 already. I am also thinking about getting my crank nitrated and ballenced too. After, I have to sort out my fuel and air intake, thats going to cost around 2500-3000. I am aiming to hit 570-600 hp... not to mention my clutch and G/box, front and rear diff... I just want to ask one question to all the owners of huge hp, is all the money and time is worth it?   4. I am just curious to know how many people have the JIC Magic suspension in their GTR-32, and what you think of it. I have it mine and i know i am not the only one to have it. Mine are adjustable from the strut tops, with a numbers 1-5 on there. im guesing that 1 is the softest and 5 would be the hardest. RIGHT? also, it is adjustable in ride height as well, and when i got the car, i never got the tool to loosen or tighten up the spring coils, and i am wondering where to get one from. ANY ONE KNOW? All round the fealing is grate, except when i hammer it arround corners, it gets all jumpy in the back end. BUT when it get it sliding, is quite fun to drive. my drive way and pot holes on the road are a bitch tho.
  5. I have a similar problem. I have no boost either. but it didnt play arround with my engine at all. i think i just flogged it too hard. theres a small howling noise comming from my bonnet tho....

  7. Hey, The other day I started my GT-R32 for the first time in a while, about 3-4 weeks, and my HICAS light lit up on the dash, that was after about 10-13 mins of running. I jumped on here and did a search, all i had to do was fill up my power steering. After that, it was fine... BUT On wednesday I took it to the shop to get some thigs fixed and put on, but about half way there, my ABS light came on. I done a little search to see what it might be... couldnt realy get alot.... so any sugestions? Also, in a few weeks, Ill be getting my PFC in and tuned. before i bought this, i read on here that the PFC doesnt have a diagnosis thing like the stock ones. Is that true? Also, I am after a english coppy of the PFC for a GTR32. If some one has one, or can point me int the right dorection, it would me grate. Thanks JUSTIN
  8. Where abouts can you get the Nissan Transmax Z from? Nissan survice shops? With the Dexron III, that is ok to use for the HICAS too right? or is there another fliud I'll have to use?
  9. I need a top up on my power steering.... whats the recomended "dot" number for the power steering/hicas flid?

  11. Well I took out the cat. Nothing... The exhaust and cat was as black as the back of my arse, but there wasnt any sign of exhaust wheel inside there. So now I am starting to think that I do have a split pipe or hose somehere. This is going to sh!t me to tears trying it. Just a quick question, what happens if you turbo is ceased? thanks JUSTIN.

I had an intercooler pipe blow off before, then the car went into limp mode, that scared the hell out of me cause I only had the car for about 3 months - I fixed that a few days later when I had time. So I am starting to think that cant be it. As for the exhaust wheel in the cat... I am going to have a look on thursday and see if there is anything in there. This may sound a little stupid... But when I take out the cat, is it going to be realy obvious that was the problem? And Ill have huge pieces of ceramic exhaust wheel falling out? Or would it have all turn to dust with small chunks and have pieces of the cat stuffing missing? ...Or all of the above? Also, while the cat is out, I have read about people gutting their cat with a pipe slamed straight through it. The pipe was then removed of course, but insted of having a massive # like pattern, there was a huge hole in it... Is this safe to do? (Apparently there is alot less restriction from the exhaust, and sounds alot better too) Thanks JUSTIN
  13. Yeah I was. But when I push it to try and get boost, the needle moves up and then sits a fraction above 0 and then that noise starts up.
  14. just now when I started my car up to hear if there is any noise from a leak any where (and so the battery doesnt die), I put my palms over where the pods go to see if mabe one turbo was sucking more than the other (like what "psybic" said mabe the cat ate the exhaust wheal) and they both gave a prity good sucking feeling... But I will check the cat when I get off these stupid night shifts. Im starting to think about leaving the car in the back yard, caving and then buying a Power FC and cam gears, putting the car on the back of a truck and putting it in at Racepace or ICE. Why do these jap cars have to be so cool and be head ache at the same time...
  15. Hi. I havent done much with my car in the last week or so. Ive been in SA, I bought some Garrett GT2860R while I was on holidays too. The other day I took my air pods off and in the duckting on the last one there was a fair amount of oil, from my broken oil seals on the turbo. And I was wondering that mabe, just mabe, my air mass meeter might be cloged with oil and the boost (under load) is being let out the BOVs because it cant sence whats happening.... If this may sound right, let me know... If this also sounds like a heep of sh!t let me know too. Thanks JUSTIN
  16. Hey. If there was a boost leak, then wouldnt the car go into LIMP mode? or does that only happen if somthing major is wrong? Ill still check the lines and pluming... well the stuff i can get to. any more jugestions Oh yeah. I forgot to add, i noticed that the revs had dropped about 200 a couple of times. if i have a vacume leak, then the revs would go higher right? what happens if you have a boost leak? thanks JUSTIN
  17. Hey. My last tune was about 5 months ago, and i asked if it ws possible to tune it to about 90% of what it could handle, just to be on the safe side... I wasnt expecting this to happen so soon. I have been saving for new turbos, now I have the mone for them, Ill be getting them (GT2860R) but I also wanted to get a PFC before I get the turbos put in... saves the headache, re-tuning, and more money spending... If this is the case, then Ill leave the car in the back yard for another 2-4 weeks untill have the money... thanks mate. JUSTIN
  18. hey I just finished work tonight, and on the way home, for about the first 10mins I dont boot it, and later on when I started to, I wasnt getting any boost... Insted I was getting a strange howling noise, kind of like a vacume cleaner when the turbos are suposed to make boost.... well it sounded like on to me... My car sounded fine and drove fine apart from having no boost. And because this is my pirde and joy, I didnt want to push it. I was reving out to something like 3500rpm and changing gears. There was no smoke, but slightly unusual back firing when I put it up a gear to slow down. I was keeping an eye on my oil presure and my temps. they where all fine. I done a small search, but because of my lack of knowlege on searching (and spelling) I couldnt find much. however... The searches that i did, some people had a similar problems to me. Others sugested a split hose somewhere. Another sugested a blocked cat... And me not being a total rev head, I have no idear... thats why I ask. My GT-R32 is stock... I have an exhaust, pods, boost controler-I think this might have something to do with it cause its prity much broken, I cant turn it down or up. I am also running 1 bar... With worn/broken oil seals on one or both the turbos. I realy need to try and narow it down because its an absolute bummer. If any one has any idears on what could be causing the problem PLEASE post away. thanks JUSTIN.
  19. Ive seen it done before. it looks tough, but wouldnt welding them put more strain on a standard diff?
  20. I got hit once. Im gessing it was a ute backed into the front of my car and being a R32 i have the vents on the bumper either side of the plate. The ute must have had a tow-ball at the back, and cracked and took a small hole out the passanger bumper, just under the vent... that pissed me off... thanks JUSTIN
  21. a mate of mine biult a drag car. 10.25 at calder. he took me for a little ride, and it was little but grate. it was loud as all f*ck. he stomped on it a little. till around 3500rpm. and that little jolt was like hitting boost in first gear in my stock GTR. (one bar of boost) after we got out, i mentioned that to him and he made a comment of... imagine that power ten times, and at the drop of a foot all the time.... .....it was nuts! oh yeah... if anyone was wondering what car it is... its a black ZB fairlane with the plates PROZB. thanks JUSTIN
  22. well... it is sort of like what Duncan was saying. If i am to turn sharply from a standing start, i can feel the back end slightly hopping around and hear the wheels slipping on the road. It sounds kinda cool, but at the same time as im going around the corner, i get a little freeked out, incase the back end slipps out. I was speeking to a bloke with a GTiR, the 4WD system in them are all mechanical, 50-50 all the time, and he was saying he gets it too. Just courious if there are any other GTR drivers who get a similar feeling. When i bought the car, the dude didnt say anything about a 2 way lock diff.
  23. Im not too proud of it, but yes... its only a sunday car right now... that is untill get insurance and 300+KW at all four. At the moment im mixing around with my parents "spare" car and the GTR.
  24. Hey all. I have had this issue with my car ever since I got it. Whenever i turn around corners wether it be at the lights, or in the back streets, and even doing U-turns, the car starts to shake. Its a wierd kind of shake, kind of like the car is having convulsions or a fit of some type. the harder i go through a corner, the harder the jolts. Im thinking it could be either my suspension, or diff (dont know how it could be that) mabe the all round hight is out. A mate said i might be getting boost spikes through corners, then i asked why only corners? another mate said it could be my ATESSA or HICAS playing up. This dosn't happen all the time, it mainly happens after i go over the joints on roads. I have a R32 GTR with JIC magic height and damper adjustable suspension. the damper is on the softest at the moment. (well i thnk it is, it has 1 - 5 marked on the struts and 1 was rally hard, so i set it to 5.) I have spoken and asked other R32 GTR drivers if it happens to them, and they say theirs is a smooth ride. - some had aftermarket and others had standard suspension. If anyone has or had a similar problem and fixed it, I'd love to know how to get rid of it. or whats causing it. Thanks JUSTIN
  25. Im in a simillar boat. Im driving a R32 GTR with no insurance... yet... I have been waiting to get off my P's so i can get full comp. (power to weight and i have an auto licence.) Just for about a year or two on full comp, god forbid something might happen. then ill get third party. A mate of mine with a 2JZ supra got insurance with just cars and he was telling me that they ask about your "claims" history, ALL of your mods AND your speeding fines. I get off my P's in about 2 months. and early this month i got a fine for 3 points, when i pay this i will either loose my licence for 3 months and be on my P's for even longer when i finish with the sentence. or i go in the 12 the month contrace. wich is the one when i cant get busted for a whiole year, and if i do, then ill loose it for 6 months. then this will lap over on my full licence... And what im trying to get at is... do you think the just cars or someone else will insure me with that kinda history? And has anyone here mannage to get insurance with a bad history with fines or accidents? thanks JUSTIN
