Yes, yes , yes and yes unless you are running a sequential boxed, fullshift rev cut Motec or Autronic then don't try it. Ken

Very nice but thats an R , they won't fit under a GTS-T.

Pagid Blues ( rs-4 or 12 ) I think. Work great cold, brilliant hot, don't squeal tho do create a lot of dust and are similar price to Endless ( bout $400 an end ). Most top rally cars in W Aust use em and I ran them at targa. The discs gave out before the pads. Were all black and crumbly when I pulled em out on the 2nd day but still worked. Don't get Pagid blacks unless you are REALLY serious and have comp rotors. Ken

6pt Roll-cage for R32GTR (Perth)
gtrken replied to GTS-t VSPEC's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
If it's from Japan , highly unlikely it will be CAMS compliant. CAMS req's 45 mm main hoop and straight rear legs , diagonal in main hoop and usually larger foot plate area than the Japs do. Bond cages are cheap but ya get what ya pay for. I found them to be a fairly average fit. I usually get mine custom made , more expensive, but I consider is worth it. Cheers -
Hicks , if your new clutch is one of those nine buttoned purple ones, I think you'll find its actually brass, not ceramic . Don't really matter cos the lunchmaster , err * Launchmaster * aka Rhino aka Ryan has got one in his R and hasn't killed it yet with redline 4wd clutch dumps so you should be sweet. BTW , I installed mine, went straight to the malaga test track and launched off the limiter on one of my previous R's so bedding em in is not really an issue. cheers

No, that is for vehicles under 15 years old. If it's over 15years old, all you will need is the FORS import approval and when it arrives , just the basic roadworthy and possible RH drive engineer certification.

imho as an onlooker but someone who reads mags etc. The reaction time is incorrectly named and should be called anticipation time. As the oranges blink at .400 sec apart and the green is .400 after the last orange then it is possible by counting in your head to leave at the exact time the green comes on. The *reaction * time is the time taken from the last orange going out. Obviously if it is under .400 then you left before the green. It is operated by the wheels breaking the staging beam and you have a tiny bit of leeway between pre stage and stage lights. You can *deep stage * ie. very close to the breakout light which will give a slightly quicker reaction time but run the risk of leaving too soon. The ET is the time from you breaking the beam and finishing at the end so in theory you could sit at the line after it's gone green for 10secs and still get an ET the same as the guy who left on the green. A TRUE reaction time is with no warning or any specific timing ( ie like a Touring car race ) the lights would come on while you are at the line. As a matter of interest, using the old light comes on , press the the buzzer test, guys like Sir Jack Brabham , Stirling Moss and Jackie Stewart had reaction times around .200 - .250 secs which prolly explains why they were so damn good.

They have clips holding them when factory but they are hard to get a expensive for what they are. Get some GOOD double sided tape, the proper stuff they use to hold body moulds on. The other stuff to use is Sikaflex 221 but once it's dry , god help you if ya wanna get it off again !!

If it's from Autoclutch it would normally be either a 9 puck Brass button or an upgraded ( read asbestos ) plate. Ross doesn't do ceramic normally and if you have a smell of burning , like when you have hammered the brakes, then it will be an upgraded fibre one. Ken

Small prob with a compression test on a lot of Nissans . The compression rings are quite good but the oil control rings are a bit weak. Do a compression test and all looks fine but still blows smoke or uses oil. The weak oil control rings don't scrape the bore properly and allow oil into the combustion chamber. Cylinder leakage test is prolly a better guide. Ken

Macka, did you use the 9 puck one or the uprated organic plate ? The puck one seems to hold together with a GTR so am surprised if ya killed one of those in 3 mths Ken

Err , you mean PUSH type for R32 GTR's and not PULL type like R33 's and late R32 GTR's Ken

There was one company in QLD that used to comply them ( and could only do 25 a year ) but that loophole was closed last year. Nissan brought them in in 1991 so no one could comply from 6/91 to 6/92 or thereabouts. Ken

Back on thread and there are sad bast**rds like me reading at this time of night. Go the single plate brass button sprung centre with uprated pressure from ross at Autoclutch. So far I have recommended about 6 guys from here ( GTR's and GTST's have used him and I've had 6x GTR , 300ZX TT and rex clutches) off him with no prob. Ken

Gearbox hard to engage 1st
gtrken replied to JH32's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
JiMiH , would doubt it's the gearbox oil level but if your still coming up Sat , I can take a look for you. Am checking Rhino's so one more won't matter. My suggestion is to buy redline light weight shockproof , not cheap at about $140 but certainly solved a couple of syncro issues I had with a GTR box. -
I believe that sky ( chick in the purple 32 bought from C Red ) ran a 12.7 in a near stock one at the plex a month or so ago

evilR33 has a set of 17x9 veilsides which have good tyres but are ....umm..... interesting to look at .They will prolly fit your gts-t. I have a set of polished 18x9 impul 5 spokes with new tyres but I think the offset is wrong for a gts-t. Cheers Ken

Should I reply to this evilR33 ???

Dave Ya should have called . I have done 3xGTR's by myself on axle stands with a trolley jack. Trick is to angle the engine down by jacking on the front pulley off the swaybar with a scissor jack. Only has to tilt back a little bit but makes all the difference. That and extreme patience with a flat board bolted to the jack with a custom wedge to hold the box at the correct angle to slip in . Took me two hrs the first time just to get the box on to the back of the engine without forcing ( can bend the plate very easy , especially if it's solid centre ) but have got better at it now. Ken
