  1. The DVD needs to have a DVD movie on it (well I think it requires a DVD movie, haven't tried it with an app/game/mp3 etc only DVD movies). Yeah TY (Taiyo Yuden) are considered a very high quality disc. You can get them from www.jpldisplays.com.au Another good brand is the Ricoh's (model: ricohjpnr01 / r02).
  2. Well I just got back and apart from it being absolutely freezing it was absolutely rubbish. I can't believe I paid $35 for about 6hrs of PowerCruise crud. I'd rather go to the AutoSalon than PC that's for sure. Their is way less on Sundays program than their was for today so I wouldn't go on Sunday unless the entry fee is either $5 or free because it certainly isn't worth anymore than that. Powercruise pack up your sh1t and piss off home.
  3. http://nsw.powercruise.net/ I planned on only going on the Sunday (apparently that was the best day last year) however the burnout comp is only on Saturday (6-9pm) and thats the main reason i'd want to go. So I might go today at about 3pm, look over everything, watch the burnouts and not go tomorrow.
  4. Take it to a very good brake mechanic (not just your local Ultra Tune) and get them to check it over. Sounds like it could be seized pistons so it might just need a caliper overhaul, seals etc. Have $500 handy with you
  5. Not sure if this has already been mentioned however it would be good if the 'Topic Reply' notification emails contained the thread title in the subject of the email (like with the old vBulletin). Saves having to open/read 30 emails a day to find that 20 of them are all about the same thread.
  6. AlphaA, Do a "Disc Quality" scan with your Princo's in Nero CD/DVD Speed and post your results as I have above.
  7. Inark I think I may have just found the problem with these DVD-R's i've been using. They weren't genuine "Ritek G04" but instead were "RiMedia - Ritek G04" which is the cheaper division of the Ritek company. I didn't realise this until I opened my 3rd 50pk of these dvd's (bought in bulk ages ago because I only had a 4x dvd burner and couldn't get any genuine Ritek G04's from my local pc shop). Have you been using Ritek G04/05 or RiMedia's? I just went and bought some Verbatim (MCC04) dvd+r's just to see what the quality of these were like (been recommended 'anything' verbatim by many other people). They were $25/25pk which is bloody expensive compared to what I normally pay but just wanted to see what the quality was like. I did a 'disc quality' scan in Nero CD/DVD Speed and these are my results: RiMedia/Ritek G04 - Rating: 35 PI Errors Avg: 35.90 Max: 361 Total: 482321 PI Failures Avg: 0.35 Max: 16 Total: 5068 Princo - Rating: 90 PI Errors Avg: 16.30 Max: 106 Total: 215446 PI Failures Avg: 0.35 Max: 4 Total: 6810 Verbatim MCC04 - Rating: 95 PI Errors Avg: 0.96 Max: 9 Total: 6479 PI Failures Avg: 0.01 Max: 2 Total: 96
  8. Speaking about Skylines only and specifically WSID which i've been attending on a weekly basis since the day it opened. When it first opened an R33 GTS-T with a std turbo doing a low 13sec pass was quite amazing. Then only a year or so ago a couple of people cracked a 12.9sec with a std turbo. Now their are people doing high 12's with std turbo's which I never thought i'd see. With modified Skylines a low 12 or high 11sec pass was astonishing. Now fairly standard GTR's are doing low 12's and modified R32/R33 GTR's are doing low-mid 11's without breaking a sweat ! It seems as though these days if you aren't doing a 10 something in a GTR or an 11 something in a GTS-t you just aren't cutting it. Hopefully i'm back out at WSID before the end of the year doing mid-12's ... which is my goal at this stage.
  9. Try installing this file: http://download.divx.com/divx/DivXPlay.exe (7.6mb) I had to do them in Divx/Xvid to keep the size down because the mpeg files are 40-100mb each.
  10. Speaking of video's i've just created some. Disclaimer: * I didn't have a tripod so they are shakey as hell * I didn't have much battery/tape left (friends camcorder) * I captured the pics on a digital camera but used an analogue cable + capture card * The videos are in Xvid format (www.xvid.org) * I have a few more that will be ready tomorrow but these are the main/best video's * Go the 31 !!!! You can download them from here
  11. I've found it's generally the "bup" files giving me the errors. The 'bup' files are just backups of the "ifo" files. Maybe it's possible to replace the corrupt bup's with renamed ifo's (as bup's) and then re-burn. I'll try it out later on...My BIL has been using Princo's since the day he got his DVD-RW (about a year ago). He's never once complained about them and never had issues playing Princo's that were burn't ages ago (that's the problem many people complain about with the Princo's, the dye doesn't last very long before it becomes unreadable). I hate the brand princo, but I don't want to spend $60+ for a 50pk of Taiyo Yuden's from Melbourne
  12. Ditto. I'll be there on Sunday this time expecting something -much- better than last time.
  13. Inark: I've been using Ritek's (G04+G05) for the past ~2yrs (well over 500 disc's) for backing up many different type of things. My housemate (BIL) has only ever used the Princo's. Now without using any type of software utilty to test the actual DVD (errors, etc etc) the only difference i've found between the Ritek and Princo's is that my Ritek's will play in absolutely any DVD Player you put them in. The Princo's will play in most, but not all DVD Players. I'm happy to pay a little bit extra for the better brand so the only brand/type of disc I use is Ritek G04/G05 (4x/8x). 1 brand I would never touch is Laser *shivers* Edit: Actually since replacing my Sony DRU512a (4x) with my LiteOn SOHW-1673S I do get many errors with trying to playback or decrypt DVD's on my PC. Edit2: I just burned the exact same .iso image file onto a Ritek G04 and a Princo. The Ritek G05 gives read errors in DVD Decrypter and the Princo reads fine.
  14. I wouldn't go racing any XR6T's as you might get your arse handed to you: clicky
  15. Oh pleeeease don't give me any crazy ideas, my Hiace drives the same now (122km) as it did the day I got it (62km) and i've been told/shown that they should continue like this until easily 350km
  16. Well done Duncan, I would have been there to watch however the drag day was on However I just noticed that according to Sundays laptime sheet you cheated
  17. Here are some Xvid's from the race... First Lap (14mb, 1m52s) First Corner Accident (4mb, 30s) Coulthard Accident (3mb, 27s) Post-Interviews (34mb, 6m30s)
  18. nah moanie said she wants to own a rotary! :chairshot
  19. Webber won't be replaced next year (still on contract) however he certainly will have to perform next year otherwise he'll be shown the door.
  20. Very good day guys. I've been to just about every single event (except motorbikes) that WSID has run since day 1 and I have to say that today rated easily in the top 3 events i've attended. The style of the event made it extremely easy to muck around with tyre pressures, work out the best rpm to launch at, watch other peoples techniques etc without having to wait in line 45mins between runs (Wed nite street meets). I'm just kicking myself that I sold my Skyline 3mths ago, certainly would have had time to figure out that elusive 13sec pass today. Apart from the PB's of 2rismo, Stacie, Paul etc i'd actually like to mention the efforts of Glen in his Black R33 GTS-t whom I was helping most of the day. The car only has a full exhaust, air filter and 10psi boost and we got it from 14.5@98mph down to a 13.5@100mph. That car can't be pushing more than 170rwkw and for a first days effort at a drag strip I think that's top work. I think a 13sec flat will be on the cards for the next event by the time a PowerFC and FMIC is fitted/tuned. Apart from Marks very minor fluid spill after lunch it was really good to see a day with no holdups, that is extremely rare at WSID. Mark I have about 5 of your runs/burnouts on the camcorder. It's a neighbours camcorder so hopefully it won't take me too long to get it into a digital format for you.
  21. I too thought that is where most damage would occurr, the initial load from the launch.Surely their would be less load on a gearbox that is already moving 'at speed' than a gearbox that has just recieved 650bhp all at once (even if the tyres/diff let go)?
  22. Turbo back is front pipes, dump pipes, cat, rear exhaust cat back is just the rear exhaust. the front/dump/cat will give you another 10-15rwkw along with much better response.
  23. It varies from car to car as others have already mentioned. My GTS-t had: FMIC Full 3" Turbo-back exhaust Bleed Valve (9psi) K&N Panel Filter Bosch 040 fuel pump Greddy Exhaust Cam Gear Splitfire Ignition Coils So that all up would be about ~$4k Notice though that not many (if any) mentioned Splitfire Coils or Exhaust Cam Gear but instead mentioned a tuned PowerFC or an aftermarket turbo... Just shows their are different ways of obtaining power, some people take the easy option (better flowing turbo) and others choose to extract the maximum power out of each part before replacing it.
  24. hrmm missed that 1. How about that VL burnout (the first burnout car) i'd like to know what tyres he was using because that's the longest burnout i've seen in my life.
  25. By the time he is 18 the laws won't allow him to drive a GTR until he is 21 and by then the car will be almost 20yrs old
