  2. So theres no problems with that VVT time stuff on the inlet or whatever for a GTR rather than some GTS-T r33? Don't reallly know just though that replacing caused problems with the ECU. So yeah atm im stilling running the stock 'nismo chipped' ECU and not an aftermarket ECU. How will this affect tuning? Cheers, Penfold
  3. Hey, sorry side tracking the thread but I was thinking about buying a HKS exhaust cam gear too but was wondering if you should purchase the intake as well? Do you lose much by not getting a set? Obviously you generally tune it +1 advance intake & -3 retard on exhaust - but the exhaust cam gear mod seems the most important. Thanks, Geoff oh btw r33 gtr

  5. Hi, I've currently got an '95 r33 GTR with two HKS Pod Filters as you can see here http://home.austarnet.com.au/myra/gtr_filters.jpg . But as you can see its a litte tight with the custom aluminium radiator and HKS intercooler piping - but stock cooler. Basically I was looking at some form of shielding & maybe some sort of cold air induction setup. So I was looking at the UAS R33 GTR Air Box. As far as cold air induction goes I wouldnt mind some sort of snorkel :- eg R32 GTR Cold Air Induction Snorkel (fibreglass) but the only one UAS list is for the r32 (how much modification would this require? Wouldn't mind it if it saved me some trouble with making my own even with a little modification.   8. Sell car Buy GTR otherwise it costs to much by the time you buy a front cut (because you want all the other good stuff too, trans etc). Anyway a real GTR has higher resale.
  9. Honestly you are dealing with a particularly small car market. As most have pointed out its more a matter of picking up a car in good condition than anything else. Both of these cars are not new - a r32 GTR is atleast 10 years old - that means it will require a certain amount of maintenance. You also want a particularly old car in good condition whilst being stock. Anyway, the point is its your probably can't afford to go looking for a particular car ie a black, r32 GTR in great condition with <150,000kms (dont believe the odometer either) as it really limits your option. BUT on the other hand both these cars are GREAT cars - the r33 is slightly heavier (50-60 kgs), definitley roomier, probably better condition & updated HICAS & breaks BUT an r32 is lighter & has more of a race-car feel. But the trouble with imports is a 10 year old engine probably won't be in as good a nick as a 6 year old engine so it kinda evens out performance a bit - just depends on EACH car (include mods to as they can be expensive $$$ but also can be a sign the car may have been thrashed in Oz or Japan. So the main thing to take out of this is just judge each car on its merits as you test drive it - but definitely test drive as many as you can particularly r32 & r33 in both GTS-T & GTR also say a HSV VS commodore to give some perspective.
  10. So are their any CAI systems available for a GTS or GTR on a commercial basis? where is the best place to feed through with a stock cooler?
  11. These still for sale & if so whats the main difference between these and stanard & also vs just replacing the exhaust cam gear?
  12. So if your getting a PowerFC+ HC anyway are you better off getting the Apex'i boost header or AVC-R or any third party boost controller eg blitz. Obviously the HC lets you play with the boost the the header but does it also allow you to play with the boost set on the AVC-R ???
  13. Well, I got a GTR with standard cooler so there aint much room. At the moment I run HKS pods but am looking at K&N but there just aint that much room for long filters. Anyhow I woudlnt mind some sort of partition but not that keen on putting together a dodgey amatuer job that I would do. Even if i did partition it, not sure if I should try & squeeze a decent intake somewhere. any feedback would be good. Cheers, Penfold

  18. I'm looking at a few skylines in Brissy (GTR mainly) r32 or r33 & just wondering how you go about get a mechanic/enthusiast to inspect em, check em out to see what kinda shape they are in. Like that they haven't been flogged to death. Any tips would be good. Cheers, Pefnold
