  1. hmmm.. well this isn't really constructive - but i think there are a few too many now, but some new ones are useful such as the compliancing/importing one.. and i guess the cefiro ones for those with boats, erm, cefiros. Maybe just a bit of nicer grouping.. So maybe.. "Car discussion" "Forsale" (which has already been done) And "state discussions" and when you click on these you can access all the sub-forums under that. It takes away much of the "one click" goodness.. and seeing what is new straight away.. but then again i usually use the jump nav down the bottom right anyhow to quickly jump back and forward.
  2. Yeah, think its "they're working on it" seems to be the general consensus When 15 year rule ends they will probably get more serious about it I guess. I was looking at a few prices.. even allowing $5000 ontop (compared to $1500 I guess for a 15 year thing), most of the prices for a nice 92 or something like that still only work out low $20's.. or possibly $3k more. The demand seems to be pushing the price of them up to what a much newer/nicer one would be, which is weird. If i was spending that amount of money on a bit of a risk anyhow, I know i'd rather spend a bit more and get something newer.
  3. If a car fails compliance under the new scheme, it has to be re-exported back to japan (at your cost) or destroyed. When destroyed I think evidence of this has to be provided (e.g. a photo of a nice cube of metal or something) The couple of compliance shops and importers I have spoken to have said this has happened a few times already. One place i was there and he has an R33 up on the hoist - and basically was telling me "that one is going to be a squashed bit of metal soon due to it having previous major accident damage". Looked ok to me.. was so sad.. the poor GTS-T going to be put down Apparently, one bloke had an R34 GTR ($60 or 70k worth) shipped over that was actually a cut and shut (of course he didn't know that). Very professional job, and the car would probably be ok to drive .. but basically was saying it had to be shipped back to Japan. Guy ended up $30k out of pocket - wouldn't be happy !
  4. Noticed that some of the earlier R32 have a slightly different climate control setup, with the sliders for the temp, rather than the digital display. Can you simply swap the control panel over from a later model ? Thinking back to my 33, there wasn't much too the whole system other than the box and i think the rest was controlled by the ECU... so can't see how it would be a too difficult swap.
  5. you can now get a newer PFC's will do MAP as well.. i think everybody is pretty much along the same lines though.. $1200 on a PFC, or lots of ****ing around and maybe headaches with the HKS. The HKS may in fact be a better ECU, and I have seen quite a few hypo GTR's with them in japan - and some 9second GTR have had them.. but if you can't get it tuned, or tuned properly more importantly its all a little irrelevent
  6. How much are people getting their RB25DE heads for? I ended up with a DET head, simply because it was cheaper and easier to get access to.. $500 although it does need a couple of things which I will have to track down. There was another one forsale on here recently for similar pricing. By the time I track everything down will be around $800 all up I think. I have seen at times DET bottom ends (not blown) for under the $1k mark. It actually seems cheaper to buy the head and the bottom end separatelt, bolt them together and save the $3000 or even more it costs to get a RB25DET complete. Crazy..
  7. i think its just the square bits combined with the round bits.. i remember seeing that 33/34 on here before.. looks great too but mmmm.. that onevia.. *cream* .. although it defeats the point a little of taking a banged up cheap car and sticking an expensive looking front on it
  8. um, you could pay twice the money to get something like that tuned.. or throw it out and go for one of the common ones that can be tuned by anybody. Its a waste in a way, but unless you can find a good tuner for it, what is the point?
  9. and R35 ? why repeat something that has always been done well somewhere else?
  10. name one reason a series2 is actually *faster* than a series1 for the extra $5k?
  11. actually that was $330 including the shipping..
  12. just drive it around.. would look tough.. think i might have found a 9800pro brand new for $330 + shipping in syd ... w00t - gaming goodness.
  13. bit rich to bust you at that age... think it was because you were asian.. nothing more.. the only time my old car ever got defected in VIC was when my ex-gf (who was asian) was driving it.. cops are wankers in VIC. nice car btw
  14. There is nothing wrong with buying a cheaper car and having more money to throw at it your way and the things that you would like to do to it.. The GTR is a more complicated system, there is no two ways about it.. which means more things that can go wrong. RWD is cheap, that is why its so popular out there. Hence when I sold my car the goal was simple - a cheap RWD and spending the money where it counts, and that is on the handling and engine.. If I had a lot more money I'd be throwing it at a GTR. That is all its about.. money... Sure I could probably just afford a GTR, but if its going to be sitting there waiting for my next pay cheque to fix it then where is the fun in that.. been there done that anyhow, this thread has gone to Africa I think in terms of the original question - its back on the GTR vs GTST debate which is a little
  15. ...or you could actually get it engineered as to how a 300rwkw rb30det handles.. hmmm, i guess i will find out ....
  16. ... or read "nur nur i have it you don't cause i'm good but i want you to know anyhow"
  17. Thats why I'm scared... now i am VERY scared
  18. no pshtt?!! a GTR with no psht?
  19. ..and its probably also coded for each individual workshop. As the numbers are pretty small they can probably keep track of it.. If one copy was to "leak" then it will fairly easly be tracked by serial number back to the workshop it was licensed too. You can imagine they wouldn't be supported / licensed for too much longer after that.
  20. ba.. people have glass skins these days.. if people get offended by stupid rubbish in here then they shouldn't read it.. e.g. ignorance is bliss.. yawn
  21. i mean i sit here, vainly hoping for some form of entertainment from this thread.. and yet when it comes and I'm not there
  22. WHAT!!? i turn my back for one instance and I miss the abuse tyrades? crap..
  23. That is the other thing to consider also.. having something that is readily and cheaply rebuildable is probably another consideration if you are doing plenty of track work. No matter how much power the engine is putting out, something will always go wrong.
  24. The fact that you have an import is an instantly defectable item...
