  1. lol.. yeah get the engine done, then put it in if you really want to go that way. I'd ask why though? that sort of power won't be that useable to drive around with.. You can get a basic rb25 engine package (no gearbox) for around $2k with loom and ecu.. My conversion cost $1600 for the engine loom/ecu and about $300 of the misc stuff I needed (labour was me therefore free). Bit of a special price though, guy sold his old car and just wanted it gone.
  2. Good to see everybody, and went pretty well for the most part. Few new faces as well as the usual ones. I'll sound like an old timer here, but yeah, common sense guys. Revving the shit out of the engine and flat lining it down the road in the area you are planning on staying for a few hours is pretty stupid. Not the thing for an official day cruise in a residential area. Only a matter of time before somebody complains and the cops show up, even if its just to take a look.
  3. Not sure about the time in the morning! I don't even get up at that time during the week <grumble> But yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm coming unless it's heavily raining or the like for a couple of reasons. See you guys there.
  4. no.. but they can be adapted via the surrounding wiring.. thread in forced induction about it in getting other powerfc's to work on r32/rb20
  5. rofl.. the man above speaks the truth.. fix the damn fuel pump first!
  6. If you could do it cheaply I guess it makes sense... It would be an interesting comparison though. Do it and we'll have a track off in 12 months time somewhere I have the engine figures here at (including transmission) SR20DET 490 lbs / 222kg RB25DET 667 lbs / 302kg You'd have to allow the greater weight of the RB25 box vs the SR20 one (20kg?) in the above to compare the engines themselves. VQ35DE+T in an R32 GTS-T (or an R33) could also be an interesting one?? assuming of course it can be made to fit relatively easily. In a few years when the cost / availability of the engines is a bit more down to earth.
  7. what's with the silly 4 banger? I think the whole "weight balance issue" is overblown... rb25 (or 26 if the budget allowed) is the way to go for a simple exchange without mucking with rb30det's... I'm heading that way.. need another $10k to get it the way I want it though...1.5 diff, radiator, oil cooler, sway bars, nick off hicas. actually those will only be $4k or so.. still put my car under $20k total cost
  8. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=104200 my auto 32 came with the viscous LSD.. check the sticker on the diff.. it may be covered in dirt. It's not easy to see but it should be there.
  9. I'm going to be at this one... First chance to give the rb25 /32 a proper workout. Should be fun to mix it with the 33's with the same engine. john: you need a QR license ($60 or so per year) and petrol, but that's the only other cost.
  10. Maybe you are expecting too much from the pad? I went from a crappy old pad to RB74's over the weekend. Just did about 2 stops from 60-30km/hr and then 6 stops from 110-70km/hr (as they state in their instructions) and then drove it for 15 mins as stated to let them to cool off. They seem fine. The procedure for those DS2500's seems pretty extreme.
  11. 13 buckets? wtf? takes me 2, at most 3.. Depends on how you wash it I guess, but I've never needed more than about 2. One for shampooing on, another of water for washing off the detergent and chamoising. "Throwing" a bucket of water at a car isn't going to do shit to clean it if that's what they meant.. lol
  12. Nope. Well not an R32. I'm using my old one from the auto, and all is measuring the speed fine from what I can tell with other cars around me. Get down near the box and check to make sure the sender is screwed in, and then that the cable is seated correctly. It has a "key" so it only slots into the sender one way.
  13. You have to get a tailshaft adapted for the rb25 box (standard rb20 tailshaft welded to rb25 yoke (end spline)), and also a custom crossmember made up. Both of which should only cost you a few hundred dollars all up. When you have it all the box and engine in there it will all make sense what you will need to make that all work. Been covered many times. I even included it in my thing.. So I don't know what info you need other than getting one made up?? 7. If using rb20 box, just use standard r32 speedo cable to get speedo to work fine. Otherwise use the top r32/bottom r33 sensor method to rig up rb25 box 5. Going from auto rb20 to manual + rb25, I need a custom gearbox mount fabricated, as only 2x bolts line up.
  14. Not sure if you'll get one for free. I bought my one the other week for $80. There are a couple on ebay at the moment I noticed (no I didn't list them) for $100 a pair
  15. What I would like to to see is a quantifiable difference between the $300+ HPC type coatings, as opposed to your $60 heat wrap roll arrangement... heat *wrap* definitely works.
  16. leaving vic was the best thing i did
  17. Grey water recycling has been discussed a few times, but then people whinge about it soon as they hear that the water they may end up drinking is reused.. Even though by the time it gets to them it would have been so filtered so much it would just be like normal water. Things are starting to get pretty rough in this country though with regards to lack of water, reducing greenhouse emissions, etc. It's only a good thing to get the issue out there before it's too late though.
  18. .. er.. only on a GTR. This is a GTS-T.. works on GTS-T
  19. but by the time you've spent $12k+ $10k+ doing up the 32 to get it reasonable, you could have bought a half decent 32GTR? Stock R32 gts-t are pretty unexciting. Or you're looking at a $10k engine rb26 swap into the gts-t, with only moderate chance that the engine is good. You're best bet is a gts-t already modified at around $15k.. and maybe just do a few minor things to get it the way you want. You can always sell the parts you don't want.
  20. Could try the top through the shifter, that's where i filled mine. But it's a bit of a bitch to get the circlip on/off to get the shifter out. You need a breaker bar. Put your leg on it... Thats how I undid my drain bolt at least.
  21. congrats.. may Garrett grow up and learn to lift a spanner well!

snapped the cam and didn't damage the valves?
  23. put the climate control into diagnostics mode..only way to check what is going wrong. I covered it in somebody else having the same problem. here we go.. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...ate+diagnostic#
  24. lol.. ahh, these ones.. been around for ages. There was a thread on another forum of possible ways to rescam the scammers, which I thought was pretty cool.
