I'm looking for an engine, standard or rebuilt Cheers
  3. Hi Guys, With the cost of rebuilding my engine now at 16K and thats without reconditioning the turbos to make sure the rebuild would be Bulletproof. I've been wondering if any of the Japanese tuning houses sell rebuilt engines or even from within Australia. Is anyone selling a rebuilt engine then and where can I find engines for sale? Help appretiated as I'm kind of between a rock and a hard place for this one. Is anyone selling a standard engine for that matter? Cheers
  4. How does a Suzuki Swift GTi hold up?? I've always heard they were fast and chuckable
  5. Now, I've never been in a performance v8, and I was wondering about what car gives you that kick in the seat harder? I'd always imagined that boosting up would facilitate that feeling the most, though in consideration a big torque v8 would have that instant kick when pushed. Not implying any pathetic engine size war Yes, boredom has set in whilst waiting for the rebuild
  6. If anyone is looking to upgrade, I can't recommend going SLi twin video cards. I had a Radeon 9800pro that ran most of the pre BF2 games really well, though the jump is extraordinary.. you can run ANY game in 1600 res and it's smooth not to mention the insane light rendering etc that takes use of direct X 9C it really makes a visual difference - definately warmer more realist graphics at speed. 2 x Geforce 6600GT's are the way to go for bang for buck
  7. Looks like it's time for a rebuild. Last night a really loud metallic sound started coming from the enine after a solid workout - to my horror. No one's diagnosed the exact problem yet though a local mechnic ensures me that it's most likely a piston ring or bearing - dang. Naturally I'd like to keep it as cheap as possible - though after phoning some garages they seem to think otherwise. If I have to bite the bullet is it worth saving up extra for cams or forged pistons etc whilst the engine is out? I'm not prepared to fork out 10K + though Is there an alternative to paying 5-7 grand for a workshop to haul it over?? Any advice from people who have gone through this?? Really sucks, as the car was running really well.
  8. Does anyone rate the Gtech for 0-100/0-400 times? I know they can't be exact - but are the newer versions pretty close to the money?
  9. You can recall peak readings from some electrical gauges, handy for not having to look down at gauges when you really should be looking at the road when flexing.
  10. Yep, I've taken a good look and there isn't a whole buch of room to plum piping or a homemade snorkle. Check the bottom of the CAI thread http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...507#post1444507 Cheers
  11. Ok, I've recently aquired the locally made ATTESSA control system Seriouly, all those of you who have recently bought an 32 gtr ( and whom have an R33/34) and which are 'trying' to embrace their newely found power'.. would be well aware that driving a GTR is not as easy as popular opion would have you to believe instictive to the young and brave. It's many times repeted that R32 GTR's are a tad tail happy, and in my expience after owning a modified GTS-t I was not expecting (note 32) a GTR to behave as such. Having miles of meadering hills right on the shoulder of Adelide, so enjoying a spirited drive (at the state assined 100km) through twisties is a blast and naturally a past time. The controller brings on front torque much earlier and like my sisters WRX gives you that 4wd drive far ealier (not making you sheit your pants which = faster ) Eitherway - I vouch
  12. Hey guys, I’ve ordered a Blitz dual sbc type r boost controller (apparently very well regarded). Just wondering where you guys stash the unit? As I try to run as defect free as I can. I was thinking perhaps in the ash tray, if it’ll fit – I don’t know any recommendations. Has anyone had any trouble with police spotting the black solenoid pack?
  13. Hi Duncan, PM sent - have transferred the funds. Cheers Mike
  14. Is it normal for an oil air separator to be so messy? I admit I’ve haven’t cleaned it in ages.. just wondering if this is the norm. I havent been to a track day and I've not been driving that hard. Just wondering.
  15. Hi Guys, I currently planning on making a cold air induction system for my 32 gtr. I envisaged buying a standard air intake snorkel (as my car came without one) feeding that into a cold air box as well as trying to fabricate some sort of wide tubing running into a fiberglass funnel to fit the box through the awkward oval hole shown below: I can only find R32 gtst snorkels so how do they differ, if at all, and does anyone know if an the gtst snorkel will fit the GTR mounting holes etc? Also, I’d imagine that cutting sheet metal is a BIG NO NO incase of defects etc, though the hole shown is a tad small, what do you guys think.. and what are other peoples methods of feeding air in without cutting metal or drilling holes?? Help appreciated, cheers.
  16. Hillclimb - cool! I opened the Hillclimb Pdf, that indicates the Hillclimb to be on the following weekend 12 June 2005.. is that a second climb or the actual date? Let us know as I'm quite keen too
  17. Nup just it's part of he body kit - I thought it was standard, like the grey plastic front lip I don't think I'll part with my spoiler though just having the N1 rear lip looks quite good
  18. For those who have an RX-7 or have had experience with one - how does the power band match driving through the twisties.. as with relatively low torque at lower revs do you have to ring it's neck for the engine to be effective? Also, I've always heard that rotaries respond outstandingly to power upgrades (if done right as mentioned earlier).. in that case if done so, does it typically effect the higher rev's or is power band increased along the entire rev range?
  19. Hey, I ran out into the car park and took a few snaps. I personally dig the look. Cheers
  20. If you guys like Top Gear.. you should check out some of Jeremy Clarcksons full DVD's - thay are the sheiiit! There's like 11 or something including some of his 'inventions that changed the world series' etc There's an excellent one about Japan and how it dominated the world motor industry - that's where his Skyline review clip comes from. Either way I enjoy both Top & Fifth Gear... although Top Gear have clearly been better through the past few years. I have noticed Fifth Gear try to encompass that shhmick look at the end of last season and this year - I think it works well and it'd be good to see them rivaling! - Better clips for US!!
  21. Forums provide a fluid dialogue of varied experience, idea's, concepts, problems, etc I’m interested to hear what people think and value their opinions. Besides, it’s not always as easy as waltzing down to a show room and demanding a test drive, I don’t know about you.. but unless I’ve basically got the deposit in my back pocket, my experience has been that the dealers aren’t too keen, especially regarding cars like these. Two great cars.. and I’m still on the fence if flirting with the idea of switching cars for a little while sometime down the track.
  22. Thanks GFXman, Wurleys hey.... a h aa. Even as a public 'artwork' - I fail to see it's relavance or beauty - BA - anyways. ching ching
  23. Hey Everybody, Driving up Sir Donald Bradman Drv again the other day and I come across those Brick 'Hives' scattered about either side of the road just outside the city!! Ok I've been meaning to find out what the F those things are for ages. Now see... most Cities / Public Information Enriched places would have placed a rather large sign to inform passing motorists about the many ODD structures they lay witness to! - not Adelaide.. I don't even know if they have a small sign which can be seen on foot - besides, seriously I'm never in a position/mood to pull over at the side of the road during peak hour and try and find some sort of plaque. Can anyone explain WTF they are??
  24. I've driven Nissan's for quite a while now and have Always been impressed with their packages. I used to have an R33 GTS-T for a few years before the R32 GTR, and whilst I'll probably keep my 32 for quite a while to come, one always wants to expand their driving experiences. As we are ALL motor enthusiasts and as such appretiate what other manufactures have to offer. So what do you guys think and how do they compare, I know they are apples and oranges.. though they still can be picked up at relatively the same price. What would you take for a year or so for a (different) and good car for spirited driving through the hills and streets etc? FD3S RX-7 Series 6 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI Cheers
