  1. RESURECTED FROM THE DEAD: I know this is a old post but through to much research and searching and having no luck I thought id give it a try. 75degrees sideways if your still around (hopefully) ive been chasing down that factory blue for the 31's ive been told it was a rare colour or is a rare colour to find these days I forget. ive heard mixed storys of it being a special optional extra on the ti ive heard others saying it was a optional extra on all 31's. well what im hoping is 1) you can clear this up for me and 2) you can get the name and paint code off the car fr me. I have a younger disabled brother and hes really into cars, he used to love going for drives in my old 31 before it was stolen and destroyed, and theres a local 31 in that colour and hes always looking at it and saying how cool it looks and how he loves the colour. so im building a 31 with him to build confidence and teach him abit about cars and I really wanna respray it in that blue be a real treat for him as the 31's were looking at are either silver brown or white so if I get it and then when hes away for a weekend or at school take it and have it resprayed to be home under a car cover to surprise him. so if anyone can help on the colour and paint code of the blue car posted above it will be highly appreciated
  2. I know this is probably a long shot due to the date this thread was created but did you sell it or have you still got it and if you still got it do you wanna sell it to me
  3. just a update as I had another idea...... if I get the r33 gts and I put the rb25de neo engine from a na r34 in it with the sports auto from the 34 and use the 34 computer or a after market computer and possibly r34 wiring loom for the engine would this all work properly together???? all my objective is is to have a sports automatic gearbox in a r33 as I can put aftermarket steering wheel ect. if this cant be done and work properly im happy to settle with the r34 but I like the 33 body better
  4. yeah it would be getting it running though and i think your correct and trans controller is in the ecu with the 34 but wouldn't a aftermarket ecu and/or remapping solve that issue. im starting to lean towards the 34 ive found 2 bodykits id be happy with and like the interior although am disappointed i cant put my momo steering wheel on as the 34 is airbag steering wheel. also im abit confused on hicas now i understand the 34 has it and some 33's and i know it has somethingto do with the handling/suspention in the rear but what exactly is it what exactly does it do and how does it work??? what are the benefits/disadvantages of hicas (pros & cons)? and what is a hicas lock and hw does it work? is there a way to press a button and have hicas active or non active like a diff lock in a 4wd or is it a once attached a lock its locked take lock off its unlocked
  5. yeah its not I don't like manual its I can only drive it for a short period of time so it wouldn't suit a daily driver. I think im narrowed my decision down to either a r33 gts or r34 25gt. I like the 33 they feel roomy I feel comfortable sitting in one. ive only looked at 34's haven't really sat in one or been on a good drive but from looks wise they seem to be just as roomy as the 33. im starting to lean towards the 34 as the prices have reduced quite a lot in the past 3 years and they are averaging the same cost as a 33 in similar condition. the 34 also being a newer car and the majority of them being lower ks kinda takes a step ahead. I also like the fact of having a sports automatic in the 34 so I can still shift gears myself when I wanna have a bit of fun. wereas the 33 does not have this its just a basic auto. I also like the looks of the interior of the 34 over the 33 its more inviting not just black or grey plastic in your face like the 33. so im leaning towards the 34 gunna go look at a few and have a few test drives of a few different ones to see how they average out in drivability. id still like a 33 and I can have the best of both worlds if the following parts from the 34 are interchangeable into the 33...... 1) sports auto transmission (I don't see a reason it wouldn't bolt up the 33 is rb25de and the 34 rb25de neo) 2) the dash gauge cluster and center console in fact any interior components I can swap over if I can swap the above listed parts from the 34 into the 33 then il be buying the 33 hands down and have the best of both worlds
  6. hi all as you may know from previous posts im looking for my next skyline daily driver. I was almost set on the r33 until test driving a r34 and using its sports auto trans, then it was a all in all again with the 32 falling behind and the 33 and 34 almost matched. so heres a run down of what the car will be..... auto and non turbo pretty simple im on my P's so no turbo and I have a bad left knee so no manual. now heres were im at so far..... r33 I like the exterior id have to say the most of the 3 and don't mind the size isn't enourmus but is still roomy with lots of space, im only a small fella but I like my room and feel the 32 is to confining for me. the 34 cabin size does trail up the rear of the 33 but I feel the 33 has more room of the 2. the 34 exterior is a close match to the 33 and In my opinion the 33 only wins as it has more/better options for aftermarket bodykits wereas I don't like the look of the majority of 34 kits and have only found 1 or 2 I would actually use on my car. the 34 has the better looking interior than the 33 even when customized the 34 wins in this area. also the 34 has a sports auto trans which is a win in my case. so the 32 seems to be straddaling along, I see this to suit more of a track car than daily driver/cruiser think il leave the 32 for until I update my track car from a 31 haha but I still wont count it out yet it may surprise me on inspections and test drives. the 33 and 34 are fairly matched making it a really hard decision.and im starting to grow to the thought of a 34 in my driveway im sure I could find a decent kit and they are questionably newer and lower ks but I still have a place in my heart for the 33 always have always will I was one of the few that welcomed the new design 33 over the basic 32 even though most others shunned it due to its size. 33 and 34 are also very close weight distribution I think 33 is 55/45 split and 34 is 60/40 if I remember correctly. now if I could find a way to fit the interior from the 34 into the 33 mainly dash cluster and console but any other bits that are interchangeable will be a bonus. and if I can bolt the 34 sports auto up to the 33 then I could have the best of both worlds. so being as the 33 is a rb25de and the 34 is a rb25de neo they are practically the same engine and are the same block so I don't see any reason the 34 sports auto wouldn't fit up to the 33 exept maybe clearance wise and making it fit but it should bolt up. correct me if im wrong people. so ive started this thread to gather as much information between the 3 series to help me make the right decicion on my next purchase. I understand that different people have different opinions and mine may be different to others but im asking your opinions on the matter, if you say keep away from 33s there boats that's your opinion doesn't mean I wont get a 33 just means that someone prefers a 32 or 34 over a 33. any pros and cons on the series would be greatly appreciated. ive red the comparison specs posted on here back in 08 and am sure opinions have changed since then. so post up our opinion and what you think of the 3 series, answer any of my questions if you can. I know your input will be great help in determining the right beast for me.
  7. I know this is a old thread but I found it very usefull. im currently in a decision war do I want a r32 r33 or r34 as my new daily driver. I love all 3 and wish to eventually own from the dr30 to the new gtr but have along way to go to get there. I was leaning more towards 33 but now have added 34 to the mix as it has a nicer interior and I want the sports automatic
  8. sweet as cheers guys when it comes to electricals im not einstien lol only doing it to help a mate out coz I know how to pull the 31 lights apart and reseal then perfectly. I put a foot up his arse when im over there on the weekend and get the specs and were he bought the leds from anf get back to ya's
  9. ive drawn up what the design I wanted is and what the design im gunna settle for is on paint on my laptop but cant figure out how to upload them to this post. if someone knows how I can put the pictures up to give you a rough idea of what I was trying to do
  10. oh sorry, I cant find the link atm but il have a proper look tonight and post the link up. so would it be easier to just have the outter ring light up as the taillight and then the inner ring only come on as the brake light? and the original post I wanted both ring to light up as taillights and get brighter when I brake but if that's not possible il have to go a different path so il use the outter light as the taillight and the inner light as the brake light. will I be able to wire both outter and inner lights into the old plug or will the brake light need to be wired seperatly so it only comes on when I apply the brake?
  11. the lights are 39 smd, chip type 1210, voltage dc12v if I cant doit the way I was hoping would it be possible to wire the outter ring as the taillight and inner ring as the brake light? there 2 separate leds with separate wiring so this should be possible am I correct? am I going to be able to wire the leds into the existing taillight loom in the boot by using the original plug on the taillights? were can I buy a micro controller and pwm and how exactly do they work? all were trying to do is convert the standard taillight to leds by changing the internals.
  12. hey guys im helping a friend out with converting there r31 skyline hotplates to leds and was wondering how I would get the lights to come on at a dimmed brightness as taillights and full brightness as brake lights. ive done heaps of research on it as I was going to do this when I had my r31 but am unsure how the led rings would work as taillights when there are only 2 wires off the led? is this already setup in the taillight harness and all il have to do is wire the lights into the existing harness? will I just be able to wire the leds into a plug and plug them into the existing taillight harness? and if I do this will they still work? I have the hotplates and the led rings im going to use already but cant figure out how to make them work as taillights, I spoke to my local auto elec but he didn't understand what I was trying to explain so I hope you guys can. also will I be able to wire both individual led rings into one plug to plug into the existing harness in boot of car? as you can tell I know how to do most of the work but I cant figure out the electrical side with wiring, also can I just use the existing plug on the hotplates and will I need a relay of any sort? hope you can help me figure this out as if it all works out I wanna start doing it as a at home business due to the fact there is no off the shelf aftermarket led taillights. cheers in advance guys
  13. cheers man yours looks nice, yeah didn't really wanna roll gaurds or anything just yet just wanted some 18s I could jst drop straight on coz 17's just don't fill the wheel arch properly lol eah I looked at all the forums on here but it just confused me more coz everyone was running different offsets ect so this will be good for a standard ride hight yeah will I be able to pull off 9.5 for fronts with 10 rears or is 9 the max for fronts wihout mods
  14. hey guys and girls just wondering what rims people have on the r33 and what the biggest size I can go would be without rolling the gaurds or using flares, obviously I wanna run 18 inch rims but am unsure of how wide I can go before I have to roll the gaurds. im after wider wheels on the rear than the front but not to much different that it looks noticibly shit any advice?? I was looking at konig milligram rims 18x8.5 front and 18x9.5 rear or same rim but 18x9.5 front and 18x10 rear would these be fine on the 33 and will they fill the gaurds out nicely?? another thing so you have all details is that the car will be standard ride hight and if I lower it it will only be between 7-12mm or there abouts. also what cmber and caster would be good for this sort of setup. if these rims wont be a good setup for the r33 what do you guys suggest?? post rim brand and size and offset if you could so I can have a idea of what fits and what to look for cheers peeps. EDT: also I want deepdish rear but not front but want the same rim design front and rear is this possible?
  15. cant not buy a car though, and cant drive a n/a skyline without some work on it haha. what would be the best suspension rating for a dodgy rd if I use blistien? so since I have to drive a n/a car for the next 10-11 months and ive made up my mind on getting a r33 skyline il just convert it to a rb25det neo when off my P's or turbo the stock motor so if I do those mods listed now I wont have to do them later down the line
  16. it doesn't go that bad for a fwd hahaha anways its not my car so sucks to him. but serieously hes put some work into it and it used to beat my old r31 rb30de+t although it only run 6psi boost so cant really compare it hahaha
  17. resurrecting a old thread from the dead........Il be on my full licence in less tan 12 months and am currently in the process of deciding weather to buy a turbo r33 and put a n/a rb25de in it for the time being then swapping it back over when off my P's (which people on ere have advised me against doing), or buying a n/a r33 and either doing a engine conversion rb25det neo or turboing the stock engine when im off my P's. most likely I will just buy the n/a r33 to save the hassles of police and work with that. my question is if I go this path n/a rb25de id wanna do some mods to it while it was n/a and was wondering if the following is possible 1) putting on a tomei z32 or r33 gtst afm, xf falcon or enlarged throttle body, s/s intake piping custom bent (I have my own pipe bender), apexi or similar pod filter w/ custom heatshield, fully enclosed pop box( heatshield may not be required if do this) and custom CAI. I know that it will all fit on the rb25de but what are the real benefits/gains doing this? is it noticeably different? 2) putting in a r33 turbo radiator (if any different to n/a) or larger 3 core radiator either way use silicone radiator hoses, twin ef-el falcon electronic thermo fans (sensor installed in radiator) or similar twin thermo fan setup. will this all fit fine in a n/a r33? 3) after market oil cooler kit (the car will be auto unfortunately due to shattering left knee and having it reconstructed a few years back, cant operate clutch properly). what is a good brand I don't want a cheap supercheap auto or autobarn one lmfao? 4) nismo fuel regulator, nismo fuel pump, nismo injectors (what cc injectors would be best in a daily driver). would this be to much in a n/a ie wasted fuel? how much would my fuel consumption suffer? 5) low temp thermostat most likely nismo. would this be a pointless addition to keeping the car cold being a n/a motor? im sure through research and more thought I can think of more and if I do il post them to get others opinions but these are basic mods im looking into to help with keeping the car cool. other things I will be doing to the car listed below: 1) turbo or similar brakes. will I just need to change calipers, rotors, pads and hoses or should I change master/slave cylinders and booster aswell? also will I need to change brake fluid from dot 3 to dot 4? 2) tein street flex coilovers 7kg front-5kg rear. is this a suitable setting I live on a dirt road that's almost like a 4wd track (full of potholes) or do I need softer or harder set-up? what suspension ratio would you run on a daily and living on a 3km long dirt road? 3) extractors and 2 1/2 inch exhaust system custom built by exhaust fix in Croydon vic (anyone needing a exhaust I recommend exhaust fix the bloke who owns it ron black used to do exhausts for the toranas that ran Bathurst so he has race and performance experience I was recommended to him by a friends dad who used to build the engines for Bathurst aand worked closely with him in that time and I would have any exhaust done by him hands down theres no argument to experience). that's it for now apart from bodykit and custom paintjob oh and rims. cheers for any replies in advance I look forward to reading other peples opinions on this. EDIT: forgot to add the greddy emanage. now that's all haha
  18. 6l/100k go the polo im just glad to be in a skyline last car I had beside the 31 was a ef falcon lucky to get 14l/100k in that does anyone know the average fuel usage of a r33?
  19. but you can change that with vicroads when you change the engine over it just needs to be check by a engineer to make sure it was done properly and meets vicroads standards. ive researched this and spoken to vicroads and emailed with Victorian police so I know it can be done, also I know someone who done it with a 180sx and have heard of people doing it with wrx's and vl turbo. but what im mainly wondering is if the engine, loom and ecu are the only things id need to change over or is there other things if so what? besides no matter what owning a tuner especially a skyline means constant harassment from the police weather you do the right or wrong thing and atleast they would go easier on someone driving a gtst converted to gts wereas they wouldn't be lenient at all if I just buy the gtst and drive it that way. also I drove my r31 rb30de+t on my red P's and never got pulled up or harassed not saying it wouldn't happen but touch wood.
  20. hey all im about to buy my r33 just looking over a few and doing some test drives to find the best cared for one. im from vic and on my green P's will get my full licence in about 11 months, legally here P platers cant drive turbo vehicles but since im getting my full licence soon I see no point in buying a n/a car plus after talking to a few people on here found out there will be legal complications to doing a engine conversion from rb25de and rb25det along with needing to cange a few other things such as brakes ect. now my question is if I buy a r33 gtst woud it be possible to swap the engine out for rb25de for the period im on my P's and then put the original rb25det back in when im off my P's? there are a few reasons for this idea 1)being the fact I can get a reco'ed rb25de from a n/a r33 auto for $3000 2) it is cheaper to buy a r33 gtst then a r33gts also the turbo is a lot more common so plenty more available 3) im fully licenced in less than 12 months so I see no point buying the n/a car also don't wanna drive turbo on P's and risk loosing my licence. 4) it would be a lot cheaper and less muck around/work to do it this way rather than buying a n/a and converting it when fully licenced. I came to this conclusion when I realized that if I buy a n/a then convert it to a turbo motor I will have to change brakes, ecu, in some cases suspention ect ect whereas if I buy the gtst all I really need to do is change engine and ecu and loom correct me if im wrong. because it will be fine running turbo brakes on a n/a but cant run n/a brakes on a turbo theres just not enough stop there. thanks to everyone for your replies in advance I look forward to reading your opinions on this matter
  21. and from what ive heard you cant put your foot down with runflats and forget a burnout or even kicking the car out apparently you get major wheel shakes when trying to slide although this was the opinion from a friend with them on his prelude
  22. cheers benc34 gives me more to research before I make a final plan and nah wouldn't ignore that advice its bloody good but I live on my own in a place I been renting for 2 years now and have lived n my own sine I was 15 kinda sucks somedays... and although I hope it never happens but know it will oneday my grandma has left me her house in the will when she passes so im all good for a house lol word of advice to any other young fellas out there tho, listen to the advice ben gave me coz a house will get ya a lot further than a car I mean what would you rather buy a car now and end up living in it in say 10yrs or buy a house and catch public transport and rides coz I know what one I would go for. picking the 33 up in a few days had to get a new rwc from the caryard hopefully they didn't do a dodgy but il check and have my mecha check once I got the car.
  23. haha yeah I started a new thread on te topic and was told there was already one so rather than having 2 threads I thought id add to this one and let it live again
  24. some of them look real nice would be awesome to do to the 33 but I think id rather something twin turbo over twin charged haha 89cal nah not really jealouse could imagine the suffering of fuel could never drive one as a daily lol
  25. yeah but how different would a fully wrapped car look to a painted car in the same colour?? cheers for that but im in melbourne haha
