  1. Easiest and cheapest - the L28 for sure. Though it could get expensive if you want to go turbo as the turbo equipment is rare in Oz. If you want it to make big HP the RB25DET may end up being cheaper... depends on what you really want - realistically.
  2. Do you have a service manual? They're pretty much worth their weight in gold when it comes to things like this!
  3. Heh I would never have seen this if it wasn't linked to from another topic in the Qld section. Anyway, bitching aside, the meetup point is seriously like 5 minutes from my house, CRAZY! I think I'll be in, have never been on a "night cruise"... I'm not about to thrash it up any mountains though, I hope we will be driving at a SENSIBLE speed?
  4. Those are pretty interesting figures. You can see Nissan really kicked off in about 1970. Think Skyline, Sunny, Fairlady Z, Bluebird... and it's easy to see why. Here's to the next 100 million cars!
  5. You won't be able to get a tour of the actual factory. Bus transport from Modena is fairly easy if you are polite with the people at the information desks The museum, shops etc. are worth the visit if you are a bonafied Ferrari freak. The atmosphere is awesome... but to be honest with you I think visiting the Alfa Romeo museum would be a better payoff. Unless, of course, you have time to visit them all!!!
  6. hahaha that's pretty freakin' cool!
  7. Hope it went to a good owner. They sure got a bargain!! I just guess no one really wants one at the moment.
  8. It's over, no bids. Wonder why...! He tried to make money out of this car (purchased for $2000 from the Gold Coast), and he's seeing that just because something's worth a lot in a different country, does not mean JACK in Australia. These cars are becoming more popular, but not worth that much yet. His LIES in the description (he is at least the third owner) do not help his case. There are such cars as 240K GTs, pretty much identical to GLs though. The interior is most definitely vinyl, as I have seen pictures of the interior. It is a fantastic car though, nevertheless. One of the best in Australia no doubt. It deserves better than this guy.
  9. If you are serious about an LED conversion, I wouldn't go past the guys at www.clearcorners.com Not cheap, though.
  10. My thoughts exactly!! And the old tail lights. Man what a sleeper.
  11. If it's not rebuilt and without a warranty it's pretty much caveat emptor, and this lowers their value. I bought one for $50. He had it advertised for quite a while at $100 and had no takers... I guess it all depends on if you can find someone who wants one. The 1600 boys used to love them, but I'm not sure if they're such a popular box anymore. A big problem is postage of the thing, so you really have to look at your local market. If it's big, maybe chuck it up for $150 OBO and see what happens. The above are my opinions only! I could be wrong.
  12. OK mustadd, the one I have has had an aftermarket radio placed in but can't remember how hacked up it is. Anyway, it is already spoken for but shipping is proving nasty ... so will know if it is available again. In the mean time I'd suggest asking on www.classiczcars.com or ozdat.com
  13. Maybe. But it's not the best. Are you after an early or late one?
  14. Hi Peter, can you email pics to me please (alfadog at big pond dot net dot au)? C111 were not sold here as far as I know. The "1" was used in Japan to signify different (more stringent) emission conrtols on the car - NOT to do with the "facelift". This car is not really very valuable unfortunately. I would say you'd be lucky to get anything over $2000 for it, but perhaps some of the C210 experts could correct me here! I have never looked to buy one.
  15. That picture's long gone, but this one on ebay at the moment reminded me of the one you posted... don't remember if it's the same one though. Just remember a bucketload of stickers on the back and lots of grey paint spots everywhere http://cgi.ebay.com.au/240k-DATSUN-VERY-OR...1QQcmdZViewItem
  16. Got one in a wrecker's yard, from a 280ZX though there were a couple of R30's there aswell. Installation is all good so far, but I forgot to take the ZX pedestal so the timing is way off... got to go back to get it tomorrow I guess! EDIT: Got it on and all working, tis nice!
  17. I believe that the shield is for bugs and other debris. The gold badge is the Japanese police force badge as shown below. This paint scheme has been used on Japanese police cars for a looong time. Here are some more police cars Mitsubishi GTO with those "funny mirrors" Nissan Skyline V35 Mazda FC RX-7 Mazda FD RX-7 Honda NSX Undercover Nissan Skyline R33 GT-R Subaru WRX STi Nissan Cedric Nissan Fairlady Z (Z32) Nissan Fairlady Z (S130) Nissan Fairlady Z432 (S30) and Fairlady Z 2by2 (S31) Nissan Fairlady 240ZG (S30) Mazda Cosmo 110 Sport So, who wants to join Japan's police force?! I do!
  18. Yeah most of the mechanicals are fairly similar....... the same with the 240Z and 260Z, 280Z and to some extent 280ZX too! The values of those cars are very different though (as I'm sure you know)! I know a fellow who was going to bid at least $4000 on the auction (the seller's target) ... I think it would have at least reached that. I'm really not sure what the guy is playing at. We'll probably never know.
  19. Sigh... More eBay shenanigans.
  20. I don't think he is confused. He says that the other pictures (what great pictures they are, I might add ) are just "JUST TO SHOW YOU HOW GOOD THEY CAN GET". The car was advertised on eBay a little while ago, and got pulled off without any explanation... well here it is! The guy bought it for $3000 and has spent money on it since. Now wants to get rid of it again... so who knows how it's still a "1-owner" car, but anyway, you would be hard pressed to find a better condition car. Very nice, I guess he thought he could make a little money out of it... we'll see! Coupe72001, I think those prices are pretty reasonable. The difference is because C110's are more desirable.
  21. Hi guys, Short of finding one in a wrecker's yard, I was wondering if anyone here had a spare R30 distributor unit with bracket they could spare? I will be looking into wreckers shortly but thought I may as well ask here first! Thanks,
  22. What model are you after??? It makes a difference. There were many different Skylines, so it would help to narrow it down.
  23. Received this via e-mail today from NISSAN. So straight from the horses mouth, it will NOT be an Infiniti. I can understand it not being named Skyline in the States too since the "standard" Skylines aren't Skylines either... but I still think they should be named Skyline GT-R in Japan etc. Anyway, info FWIW.
  24. You can get flares and spoilers from a reputable shop in Japan that deals exclusively with old Nissans. Very good quality items but you get what you pay for, and shipping isn't cheap either. As YO880 said there is also a place in Melbourne that some people have been trying to get a set of flare moulds out of for the last 3 odd years. Seems they are finally seeing some results.......!
