how exactly is cornering performance quantitatively measured as to conclude cornering performance "doubled"?

Rwd Or Awd. Which Stagea Is Better?
AlexCim replied to stageaC34's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Yes, infact, I've done it countless times. Dry tarmac, wet tarmac, ice, snow, dirt, grass, mud. Been there, done that. I get chirps 1->2 and sometimes on downshifts 2->1 On a wet road with Nankang/Wanli/Linglong spec tyres, if I stall it up and launch I get about 0.5s worth of FOUR wheel spin. On a very wet road, I spin all FOUR wheels through all of first gear. My car does not have an LSD, but it still LS's all the time. U-turns, loose earth, wet road, whatever except dry road. I stand by the comment. I found that when accelerating through a corner it is best to induce understeer and then plant my foot to get the fronts spinning and pulling me out of the corner. This also causes a much smoother transition onto the straight as I found lifting off unsettles the car slightly. Yes, I hoon around in mine a lot and it sees some hard driving, but I wouldn't give up the AWD without a fight. I honestly say that there have been times where I have thanked god for the car being AWD rather than RWD. Also, I think it being 4WD has helped me a lot in keeping my license (Probably just my problem). THOUGH, at this point I am considering converting mine to RWD (long story why, its not coz I am anti AWD), but I don't think it would have been wise to start off with a pure RWD stagea. I also always comment to others, "If I had to give my kid a turbo car as a first car, this would be it" BTW, those comparing figures for speed/etc AWD, 180awkw, 14.2 @ 99mph compared to GorGasm's 14.7 with 175rwkw (or whatever it was) -
140km/h is not rarely seen. Yeah.. racetracks. At your sizes and offsets, comparing to my rims (which are slightly weaker than Yoko) you are going to have 28mm less inner and 40mm more outer clearance on the front and 9mm less inner and 21mm more outer clearance. Stagea's have MASSIVE front guards man, you really need lower offsets on the fronts than the rears. Be careful of hitting the shock too (the curse of high offset wheels) You can compare to other sizes using this calculator. http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp I havn't touched my front guards and my rears would be alright slightly higher, at this height they need a lip only (bend the inside lip up, not pump/roll/flare the guard) Yokotas old car (18x9 -5 w/ 235/40 fronts, 18x10 +20 w/ 235/40 rears) My car (18x9 +1 225/40 fronts, 18x10 +20 w/ 235/40 rears)

haha, if anything I would put 215/45's on the front. The fronts now would hit the gaurd thats why I cant lower it too much beyond where it is. The rears wont fit anything below 235/40 as I am only lipping the gaurd, I am not flaring/rolling it at all. 235's fit perfect under the rear gaurd.

slips ons are shit, bolt ons are better. slip ons will always throw wheel balance off (for me, that means a LOT at 140km/h+)

M35 - It's The End Of The Line For Me...

Oh shit.............. -
20th it is. Ill update the first post details

I think you are going to have rear inside clearance issues with an offset that high. My 18x20 rears have about a finger of clearance (13-17mm). I don't know if an extra 20mm on the inside will fit. You definately wont be able to run square rubber (where the tyre sticks out more than the wheel)
-
I am not normally a fan of chromies either, but I think they suit. I lowered the front 2 circlips but it didn't go that much. I left the rears, I am going to both of them as is. A little lip and it will be sweet on the rear I probably wont lower the car beyond now as I still give it a thrash through mountains and I want to avoid bump steer/wheel smashing on front gaurd. The 25mm spacer at the front did wonders! Going to look for a series 2 Dayz kit if anything, will probably wait to get off my P's for that (April)

Here are some photos of my new wheels Work VS-KF 18x10 +20 rear with 235/40 tyres 18x9 +26 front 225/40 tyres I am still to add a 25mm bolt on spacer on the fronts. Also lowering the rear 1 circlip (8mm) and front 2 circlips (1.6cm). In these photos I have my old wheels in the boot, thats why it sits at that height (which is the one I want) Guards are completely stock, still have the lip. I am going to lip the rears as it rubs slightly over bumps. With a lip, it wont rub at all. Will post up photos after lowering/spacing.

hmmm, can people clear sunday the 20th?
-
Currently undecided between the 13th or 20th of January (Both Sundays). What suits everyone best. I am find for either dates. I will choose the date that most prefer and a decision will be made within the next week. Regarding the destination, I have an awesome destination but it IS a full tank round trip. I could probably dumb it down a bit, but the full tank cruise will be really enjoyable and liked by most. It also involves a small 100m drive on a dirt road to get to the camp site, I hope no-one should have an issue with that (mine is lowish and that road is no problems) I am planning a meet up time of around 11am with a depart of 12 noon. The meet spot is going to be in the SE suburbs around Nunawading. We will have a petrol stop on the way at BP and it will be a 2h drive to get to the camp site. After maybe 2h at the site (includes parking, fire starting, cooking, talking, etc) we will head off again with an expected return to Melbourne of 6pm. There will be winding roads on the way there, winding roads there and winding roads on the way back. I again assume everyone will be down with that. I will update this post with the final details in a weeks time when we settle on what date we want it on. So now, expressions of interest and best dates for all.

Can Anyone Identify These Rims?
AlexCim replied to rb26stagea's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
VERY similar to Work Euroline XR's. http://www.work-wheels.co.jp/products/whee...&Item_id=22 However, the ones you have are 2/3 peice and have a shaped centre. Do you have a closer picture of the centre caps? -
My destination is up north, towards marysville/warburton/other I will post official details in a week or so.

Mid January next year? Day cruise, up the mountains to a BBQ site. Ill bring some wood, have a BBQ? If yes, I know the BEST place to go Great drive, good BBQ area etc

I have no issues with chrome at all, it all just depends on its setting. Oh, there is also cheap chrome and quality chrome. Most chrome looks shit coz the wheels themselves are shit, doesnt matter silver/black/chrome, its a bad design. For example, Work Emotions CRKai's look awesome in chrome.

I MIGHT come. Doubt it though. I would come if it was on the weekend. If I come, would be me + 1 (stagea) Want me to organize something on a weekend in maybe 2 weeks (gives time for people to clear their shit up)?

For not much more dollars, I can arrange Japanese wheel packages including Work/Kazama/Others email arch@garagesokudo.com (maybe .au)

3000km of pussy footing a new engine is not going to do it any good my friend. Here, have an interesting read: http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm Interesting indeed. I have some pictures up on my MySpace. www.myspace.com/shiftyunicorn (yes, that myspace name was inspired originally by my stagea ) Some ideas have changed through the build, but its getting there. Engine/Gearbox getting mated over the next few weeks.

Awesome build man. If my 4G63 in an S13 project falls through, or the S13 eventually bores me, I am highly contemplating putting the hole lot into my Stagea. Yeah, I know, 4 banger, but 4G's have a heap of torque. Will have to decide that when I eventually put the engine on the dyno. I am using an R34 manual RWD box anyway, so its just a matter of bolting up the R34 GTR box and away I can go with AWD and all (some electronic work obviously) Btw, nice fitment on the GT-C's . What size, width and offset? Thats the fitment I am after with mine.

i run one fit fine

On my Stagea I have used the following (I ranked them best to worst) Michelin Pilot Preceda - $1100 a set Kuhmo ECSTA SPT's - $800 a set Hankook K104 ($650) / Federal SS595 ($550) *insert very big gap in performance here* Nankang NS2's ($free) Nankang 505's (or something) ($came with car) Wanli something ($borrowed) Hills runs on all of them. Lots of driving. I never got more than 10,000km out a set of tyres (so, I really do test em ) Nankangs were not TERRIBLE in dry, but wet was SHIT. The WANLI's, well, if it was raining and I stalled it up and launched, I would 4wd spin all through first. None of the others would do more than chirp the fronts. I am going to be buying Kuhmo's this time (yep, new tyre time now) The lower end of scale - best life - cheapest price - worst performance. Top end of scale - worst life - most expensive - best performance......this is the irony of tyres ey?

What about this red Stagea. The more I think about it, the more I want massive AME style wheels!
