  1. and lol @ me for using Motul 4100 in my car Group II? Bugger.
  2. Hats off to Rolls for the info. The first post has been edited. If you read something noteworthy that other guys might find handy, please do the same as Rolls and "Report to Moderator" so I can find the info and paste it into the first page. That might stop guys like Phatboy suffering from "Just spent half a day reading through all 42 pages of this thread." and still didn't learn what he wanted to. Cheers Mark
  3. Gents there is an O2 sensor sticky already (that shows sensors and part numbers).
  4. and after you hollow out the cat, make sure you take the "www.skylinesaustralia.com" sticker off your car
  5. When I had my reverse gear lockout problem, the guys at All About Gearboxes at Greenacre mentioned how just about all the Nissan gearboxes are the same and said something about my GTR having the same gearbox as a Patrol? This post isn't much help (it was over two years back). But thought I'd share that I'd heard about compatibility between Nissan boxes too. FWIW
  6. Duncan should this info go onto James' O2 sensor uber-table?
  7. compnerd, your thread can stay, however: 1.) Please don't post in all caps. It's really annoying and hard to read. 2.) Do not post the same thread multiple times. It's really annoying, wastes bandwidth, and makes any helpful replies be spread over different threads instead of one - which sucks for the next guy with the same problem. Thanks mate.
  8. Try http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...t&p=3024539
  9. Tell him for that price you'll fly there and inspect it personally
  10. I'm sorry, I haven't explained myself properly. My experience (200,000km, 145psi, 18 year old RB26) IS conclusive proof that refutes your claim that "plennum [sic] is chipped ... the car is a POS NO QUESTION!!" This myth has been busted. I don't mean to put too fine a point on it, but rev210's excellent post shows how you should go with what makes sense and not what you read on the internet or in a magazine. Use the net/mags to give you a head start, but be wary of using them as an authoritative source.
  11. I had a GTR for three years that didn't have any paint on the plenum; it never missed a beat. Then again maybe the chipped paint is the reason an AFM broke right at the end. Plenum paint = motor health is BS +1
  12. Deren you should start a donations page through Paypal or somewhere. I'd happily send you a few bucks to help the war effort! Everyone loves what you're doing, maybe everyone could help things along! You are a new dad and all...
  13. I posted scans of the review a few years back. If you have trouble searching for them, send me a PM with your email address and I'll beam them over.
  14. Generally speaking, speedos are wound back in Japan, so unless the seller has logbooks, the kms aren't a good indicator of the car history or condition. Stock is nicer because it is harder to break a stock motor. That said, RB20s are super cheap so breaking one isn't a big deal. Engine life generally comes down to service history, frequent oil changes, and a sensible right foot. Yes, everyone buys a skyline to give it some stick, but guys that flog a cold motor or love to play traffic light Grand Prix would be shortening the engine life. Hope that helps. The bottom line is: RB20s are cheap. If you can find one with a few bolt on mods, you should grab a decent deal. Remember that more mods means an ECU retune or replacement is more important. So watch out for an engine with a big turbo and big intercooler that is running a standard ECU. THe seller prob just sold his PFC or whatever to make some coin prior to sale. HTH
  15. Ok we're now another 60 posts lighter. For the final sticky, it looks like we'll need: Part Numbers (James has pretty much covered this) How to test your O2 sensor (with Consult or PFC) How to change your O2 sensor How to reset your ECU Any other headings? We can prob leave crimping and wiring for howstuffworks.com
  16. Far out James, looks like we just found our O2 sensor reference page! Nice work there. Would you mind if we reproduced the info here as a sticky? To make sure your efforts are recognised, you could create the thread and I'll go sticky it? Funnily enough, I don't remember deleting any of your posts last night because they all had good stuff in them!
  17. Hey no problem. I've gone through the first couple of pages tonight: R32 GTR has two different sensors. They aren't compatible with the EL Falcon and are different to RB26 sensors in the R33 and R34. There might have been some part numbers but it was bit of a blur. I was pretty much deleting any post that didn't offer some meaningful info, and saw LOTS of part numbers thrown around. Perhaps check out the first few pages and see how you go. btw, if you aren't sure about your O2 sensor, I highly recommend borrowing a consult cable from a mate or even going down to Mr Nissan. It is VERY easy to diagnose the fault with OBD. Alternatively, there was a link on page 2 or 3 (?) that apparently shows you how to check it with a multimeter. I think you just need to connect to the signal wire, and on a hot sensor you should see voltage steadily bounce between 0.4 and 0.8V. Don't quote me on the voltages though as I haven't checked in a while. The info is in the RB20/25/26 engine workshop manual supplement.
  18. FVO is right. 26 pages is not going to help anyone. I've chopped 140 posts out tonight. I'll try and knock a few more later this week. Once we've whittled it down to something manageable, I'd really love a keen SAUer to cut and shut the remaining info into something useable we can put into a new thread. Full credit will go to the guy or girl that does the editing. We'll need something with headings, either by car or by something like "Part Number, Fitting, Sellers" or something like that. I'll leave it with you. But yes, FVO is right.
  19. Mick has clarified that this is his licenced version of the software he is looking to trade. I got it wrong. Mick I apologise for not checking the facts first and implying you were swapping licences or offloading dodgy software. Mark
  20. Sorry Mick, publicly trading software deprives the creator(s) of rightful income. This thread must now be closed. I'm happy to discuss further, please shoot over a PM. Mark
  21. Nice. Hey dude once you sort out what the problem is, could you come back and post please? It'll help someone else that could be in your shoes. Cheers.
  22. Hey Jarrod, welcome to SAU. What exactly did you do/touch when you moved the gauges? Even if the ECU is reset you should still be able to drive it. Do you have a consult cable?
  23. Dude what software and consult tool are you using?
  24. Good angle to consider, but that switch is for low beam/dipped beam, and lukearse said it's his high beams that are stuck on.
