  1. Thanks for the feedback. I'll be keen to here the details once you're willing to share more.
  2. I'm asking them if they will either offer a guarantee it will function fully, especially the cluster for the mileage, or offer all expenses returned to me including postage/shipping if it does not fully work. I'm still hesitant however unless they give more confidence. I'm an android user at home (my home automation is through android ie tasker and a little ifttt where required, and the raspberry pie tends to do minimal as I prefer android.) so with Android in my car I would likely automate plant if things based on time of day and location eg when getting car after 12pm and not near home, automatically direct google maps to navigate to home or put the live streaming radio on a certain channel when I start driving and it's before 9am etc). Thus why I find this solution so tempting if I can reduce the risk of wasting 750 dollars. The risk of wasting installation efforts will always be there.
  3. Losing the middle screen would lose the trip meter and outside temp I guess wouldn't it? Other info on that can be shown on the middle screen eg distance to empty and fuel economy.. Actually, maybe it's only fuel economy on the middle screen as well. While I am happy losing the trip meter it won't go through rego without that so I would be interested how hard it is to get the screen back if it proves to have this problem on a v36. Still, I need some confidence they'll stand behind their product for a v36 as I have also read some concerning customer service reports for phoenix since searching reasonably extensively.
  4. OK thanks. I have asked them if they will give a money back guarantee including shipping if the system does not work as advertised. Also mentioned there are others that may be interested... I have a feeling that their response will still not give me great confidence but I am really hoping so.
  5. @DashyyPC While Phoenix didn't give an answer distilling confidence in the purchase.. I am still a little curious about the compatibility. When you say Nissan, do you mean other types of Nissan's or v36 specific? Was all this through word, or is there somewhere online that has discussed this? I can't seem to find anyway in google that returns any info for "v36 phoenix radio"
  6. So in reply to all my questions (see list above) they vaguely answered one question.. Which at least was the most important one. Doesn't really give great confidence. Hi Peter Brown, Will this work with a jap RHD model? not sure, we didnt get any feedback form jap RHD model. Thank you. Ticket: https://phoenixautomotivellc.freshdesk.com/helpdesk/tickets/33589 Best regards,
  7. I can find links of similar devices if you are still haven't challenges finding them.
  8. I just used a hdmi to rca adapter (connected to the aux input) then plugged a Microsoft wireless display adapter in. Originally I had a miracast box which had the Android wireless display and ios wireless display and that had rca outs. But it failed on me and never bought another one as I only displayed android screen mirroring. Problem with this is it uses a reasonable amount of battery so I mainly do it while charging. As I use it as a daily I use a wireless charger in a dock (3d printed dock with wireless charger stuck in it) and use tasker (android app for automation) to enable screen mirroring automatically when it's dropped in the dock . I use this daily on my screen thus why I went to this effort. Edit: The challenges with this is wireless charging and screen mirroring causes heat so I had to install a cooling fans and the touch doesn't work so you rely on either a Bluetooth remote or voice while driving. You won't have the heat problems using normal charging however.
  9. I thought about that originally (enquired about 3 years ago) then realised as it added no extra function other than Japanese to English I couldn't justify the price. I then moved to screen mirroring my android phone and created a few automation things so it mirrored automatically when charging and in the car, and used google assistant to get things working with minimal touching of the phone. So I hadn't cared about the Japanese conversion again. But this looks to to both, get English conversion and also adds functionality like Google maps which I use regularly, google music which I use regularly, online radio which I use regularly... As long as the system is ok, the added function to me seems worth the cost over what I already have with screen mirroring. I could install Android auto on it as there is an app that mimics Android auto I believe.
  10. I'll post back here. I'm sort of keen as this is far better than the english conversion for far cheaper. I have been mirroring my phone on the v36 screen for the past 3 years. I've since looked at videos of the Q50/Q60 version which I believe are similar... One thing I don't like initially is the climate controls have physical controls and screen controls. Just seems to be a repeat and can't see where it can removed. Although it can have the theme changed I believe which makes it look less like its repeating itself. The screen I have found is defintely one screen. None of the reviews say it has a poor screen or anything so the resolution must be OK for in car (it is only 1280x800 on a 12.1 inch screen which is low by todays standards) and no one mentions anything about glare being a problem. So I am hopeful the screen will be reasonable. I have yet find one installed in a Jap v36 (RHD) however but hope this shouldn't be a problem.
  11. I've since sent them an email to find out a few questions listed below. Let's see if or when they answer my questions. Like the concept... Little hesitant as some people had problems with the voltage of the reverse camera. Minor problem but not necessarily plug and play. Not sure how good the support is if you have challenges. Hopefully good, but limited info on the internet for the G37 (nothing for the v36). Hi I have a manual v36 jap spec 370gt coupe sports with say nav. Will this work with a jap RHD model? I am wondering what functions are lost with this system? Will the side camera still work? Will the reverse camera come up when put in reverse? Can both cameras be shown at once or one or the other? Will the dash screen (behind the steering wheel) still work? Is the resolution 1280 vertical and 800 width? It's one screen yes? Can the video can be moved to the top of the screen, and affectively 800x480 res for the video? Will the handfree use the oem mic? Will google assistant work? Can it be triggered by "ok google" or the steering wheel button? Will the screen change contrast or colours when the light state turned on? How bright is the screen? I am concerned about glare which is evident on a lot of screens. The oem one is good as it's recessed. Are there any modifications required or purely plug and play? Regards, Peter
  12. Not a bad looking system. Any idea what the specs are like? Particularly the screen quality and resolution plus how readable is it when the sun is out. I might look into these in more details with things like does Google assistant work and hoe good the hands free is.
  13. Thanks for the reassuring. I'll look into them when it gets worse again, or I need a clutch change.. Clutch has probably only done 20k so far I think, so hard to pull it out just yet.
  14. Hadn't thought of that ?. Might stop putting things off, starting tomorrow.
  15. Thanks for your replies. I was in a little panic seeing I had a perfectly good car off the road as of tomorrow if I didn't get it registered.
  16. Well that worked a treat. Lights gone now. Rego passed with 1 day to go phew. Have since turned ignition on and off multiple times and it's stayed off. So good for now....
  17. Reason I guess I didn't think too much is that the place is a general import dealer, so assumed they didn't have the proper Nissan consult software..
  18. I hear you. Hope you're wrong, but fair point. Occasionally the passenger side window goes up and down when I open the driver's side (like it's meant to when the door opens). They told me that was just a matter of resetting the windows occasionally (the hold down and the hold up reset/calibration) but I'm thinking it's more than that and the system thinks the passenger door is open when I open the driver's door. Yep, gullible I know. Let's hope it's not an expensive mistake. The car was checked out by an independent assessor with compression checks done on the engine so I'm hopng the rest of it isn't hiding issues. I've had it for almost 2 years so I think I've found all the problems.
  19. Oh. Good... Then turned bad. I'm hoping the Ecu hasn't been flashed then as that sounds like a headache. It's got no aftermarket mods so I'm assuming it's still the stock Ecu code.. Hopefully
  20. Looks like there is hope for me still Although I'm not sure if this is guaranteed to work. Fingers crossed. Also a youtube version, but its for the G37 and its for the SRS airbag OK so there appears some hope with the
  21. Model: V36 2009 I had this light on since I bought the car, originally being told it was just the bonnet light... But soon realised it was more than that, but at least it should just be a reset job as the light comes on when removing the front bar even... So I went to a Nissan dealership to get it reset (as the dealership I bought it from said they didn't have the equipment) to be told that they don't have the tools to do it. I haven't thought much since, and it went through rego last year fine. But this year it is now sitting at the rego place and he won't pass it with the light on. Any suggestions? I tried the Nissan dealership again and they said they ca't do imports. I told them that I thought that if they can scan the R35 GTR's they should be able to scan this. He said no they can't. I am really stuck now as it runs out of rego tomorrow. Anyone have any suggestions? I read about turning the ignition off and on in the right timing but I think that just send it to diagnostics mode yes, so will still need Nissan Consult hardware/software? I live in SW Sydney (Camden to be precise)
  22. Oh right. I must have got lucky until now.. Might need to nurse this clutch for a bit until I feel I've warn it enough to justify getting rid of it or the slave gets worse, as I'm not keen to replace an almost new clutch just yet.. I've changed clutches before but I'd likely pay someone next time and that won't come cheap I'm sure.
  23. I hear you about the clutch. But it feels just like the first time where replacing the slave cylinder seemed to fix it for some time now. No problems with the original clutch plate then, just that I think they couldn't get the slave cylinder without the clutch plate included supposedly.... Flexible hose? Is that between the master and slave? So diff bushes hey. I'll have a look at them. It does feel a little like it's something hitting the body so this makes sense. I recently got an alignment done and asked them to look at bushes but they wouldn't have checked the diff ones for an alignment
  24. Two faults with my v36 So I have two faults with my v36 manual coupe and wondering if this is a common thing. One is the clutch sticking to the floor on spirited take off's and the second is axle/driveline shudder or bounce with wheel spin on certain surfaces. The worst of the two is the clutch that I'm pretty sure is a clutch slave cyclinder problem... Again!! When I got the car I found that the clutch felt fine until on the occasions I did a spirited take off with some revs/throttle and "clutch control" (not riding ha ha) for a good take off. The clutch would stick half way to the floor until I either backed off or pulled the pedal back manually. I nursed the clutch from then as occasionally the clutch would slip when this happened. Absolutely no problem with the clutch on normal driving, nor full throttle when the clutch was fully out. Just couldn't give full throttle before the clutch was out. Anyway, so after they changed the clutch fluid, then the master cylinder it came down to the slave cylinder which fixed the problem. Scored a new stock clutch plate out of it as well as the master cylinder which didn't need replacing. Problem is it has now come back after less than 20k. I don't usually abuse the clutch however, with reviews matching on down shifts and usually low revs to take of so not riding the clutch. Thing is I have driven manual for most of my life and neither of my s15 had this problem with the last one close on 200kw at the wheels. Is the v36 slave cylinder really this weak or have I just had bad luck? My take off's aren't that abusive. Just the odd spirited take off I'd expect any performance car to be capable of on occasions. The other problem is the shudder (feels like the old school axle tramp on a live axle car) I get occasionally on minor wheel spin with traction turned off. It doesn't always happen, and it can often happen on minor wheel spin on take off. I've had it in the wet multiple times as well. I've got some decent high performance tyres (pilot sport 4S) but this also happened on the re050a when they were rat sh!t grip near the end of their life. Could this be bush wear or something? I've got stick suspension except I have whiteline adjustable sway bars in it (although it did with the stock sway bars).
  25. I haven't done it as mine was already done, but I believe it is setup to the handbrake sensor that grounds a certain cable/wire on the head unit. So if that is permanently grounded then video keeps working. I do stress I haven't done this myself as it was already on be on my car, but I did do some research before I bought the car and think I read something like that (and t is also quite typical for aftermarket head units to also do this) Edit: as talkiet mentioned, it may also include a module for the speed sensing as well hmm. I suggest looking at g37 google searches rather than limiting to v36 as it returns more info and think they are similar enough to share most info..
