  1. even lewis engines seems to have a pretty good deals with parts and you can even order a full engine www.lewisengines.com.au
  2. lol sometimes it seems its much cheaper to buy an engine thats already been built off the forums here anyone had any experiences? would you do it? if you could save 6K? but then you dont know whats been done until it goes pop lol
  3. thanks alot for all the replies, us sites aye, bloody hell 300 US mmm might hunt thru the us stuff thanks
  4. great info there cheers for that yeah I'm still pondering I know the de block will go bang it's just a matter of when so I either need to get something ready or do something before it happens
  5. so we are looking at pistons, gtr rods upgraded rod bolts, acl bearings and new gaskets all round that only looks to be setting me back around 2k will I need to do any machining etc? After all it's not an all out build this way I can spend on other areas , maybe If I can keep it to 4k then I can spend 2k on the turbo and 1k tune up, but like I said before if I did the rb30 just with rod bolts and gaskets it'll only be like 1k then 1k bolting it up then 2-3k on new turbo and I'd have 2k to spend on other areas of the car, who's the guy that's done this before he just bolted a stock rb30 bottom end up to his rb25 bigger turbo and started drag racing?
  6. yeah I have considered it, I've also seen people just chuck the stock rb30 with upgraded bolts on make a reliable 270rwkw what do you guys think it's cheap will last 250rwkw and will leave me cash for other areas of the car
  7. also like to have a fairly wide power band something that can rev cleanly to 8000rpm (area under the curve) etc
  8. yeah target is 300rwkw to around 350rwkw umm it's just for a bit of fun really something to use at the odd track day, motorkhanas etc Well combining my tax return and savings I've got 7k and I really would like to keep everything as hidden as possible from the eyes of the po po's so low mounts, I've forgot to mention it used to be a non turbo (turbo conversion) so I'm not even sure how much more it can take I've got 202rwkw at the moment oh I'm not doubting the rb25's they are awesome but I am doubting my de bottem end haha, I've had a chat with a few places and really they said just for 300rwkw there is a low mount that can support it + I can get a mild build with gtr rods + upgraded rod bolts and pistons that they have said should be enough for that power figure (and ofcourse a compression ratio of 9:1) + I'm not sure how much machining it will need Anyway at the moment i'm just in the thinking stages Cheers
  9. hey guys just wondering what's more cost effective Rebuilding the current rb25 or dropping an rb26 motor and box in there Why? Because I can LOL , I know there's heaps of advantages with the rb26 + I'll get to have twins the only thing stopping me at the moment is what sort of labour hours it will take + my motor currently has the following mods 52mm radiator Intercooler PFC Turbo back exhaust The obvious pod and enclosure + I just got some gauges put in I'm just not sure what will have to be sold off and what can stay to work perfect The cooler will have to be changed the dump and front pipe as well How about the radiator ?? Will the radiator hoses fit?? The PFC can make way for a gtr PFC or stock ecu for a while The reasoning behind this is it'll cost 4k for a mild build to handle roughly 325rwkw while a gtr engine shouldn't need a build for that much should it? Plus I get solid lifters and the 6throttles and twins not to mention extra capacity Anyhow calling everyone that's done this before to advise me on what has to be changed
  10. i know there are easier ways and cheaper ways, i wish people would stop stating the obvious, BUT because im gonna get these gaurds anyway so i can fit the +18 offset rims, all i wanna know is will it make a noticeable improvement to handling on a track? any comments about the holes on these guards?
  11. ok i wanna pick your brains car : r33 gtst what i wanna do is install those 25mm larger guards front and rear then throw on 18x9.5's all round with a +18 offset, Q1. will it sit flush with the new guards? Q2. the lower offset as im lead to believe from other posts will increase my track, in effect will give me better handling/traction around the tracks, i just want to clarify this? obviously will it be noticeable or not? other thing is the 25mm front guards have the hole that loos very rice to me, does that aid in cooling for brakes, because if it has a positive function i wont get it patched up to look like gtr front gaurds. thanks guys p.s. if you dont have anything interesting to add or have negative comments please dont reply
  12. still available? got a pic of the filter itself i just wanna see the condition cheers, where abouts in sydney?

  15. hey guys after much search and the crappy flood control thing that they have, just want to know if this is a good place to mount my gauges is it legal or not thats all i need to know cheers btw live in nsw if it makes a difference
  16. come on guys someone should have a bit more knowledge about these than me and 5hu70
  17. Hey guys I need some answers for the following before I make a mistake and it earns me a defect I wanna buy and arc induction box, but is it legal or not? I know a pod is frowned on but how about this? I guess it can still effect emissions as it's larger etc Also dash mounted gauges in a triple gauge cluster, I've got the same one as the guy who owns TOPRPM and want to mount it there is this illegal in nsw? I'm not sure what the ADR is on this, but I thought it was all dash mounted gauges cannot be higher than the highest point on the dash or something along that line Come on guys educate me! Cheers
  18. can someone please shed some light on post #17 ta
  19. oh cool, so while doing the blue slip would they check anything else on the car? LOL or just the back seat issue
  20. hey guilt-toy, seeing as your car is engineered and passed all emissions tests, how much has it all set you back roughly? like e.g. we get defected and need an emissions test and an engineers certificate for the front mount and a certificate for the exhaust and sealed pod. An engineers certificate would cost roughly how much?, how about emissions testing? (do you need to pay for this?) + the power fc tune for $150. Once its all done you can still get defected if the officer believes you have modified it further....sure we'll pass the pits first go but do you still pay the fine? Last question : instead of a pod filter, an arc induction box -> being a mod can we get done for this? even though its a panel filter which is slightly larger in size than our stock filters..... sorry to hijack but i think this will give alot of people a clearer idea on costs etc
  21. interesting read, but if u did register it as a 2 seater how much would it cost, or is it more cost effective to do it around rego time? whats the exact process and prices involved? if someone can list this it would be awesome
