My car with a 2.8 step 2 HKS stoker is going in to have the ecu fitted and tuned next week so will post results in my build thread in the motorsport section once done. But just from driving the car running it in it definatly feels more responsive than a stnd stroke 2.6 and feels very smooth throughout the rev range. HKS for th win in my opinion.

They are not the same turbos as 25/30 as response and top end power will vary considerably but they are also nowhere near the price of 25/30's either. I have used them on a mates race car that i built rego 26R32 it came 8th outright in superlap and they are a good turbo especially for the price the car makes 497hp at all 4 wheels on 20psi boost with a set of tomei pon cams so they will definatly do the job as i would consider 20 psi not to be a lot of boost myself. I will be winding a bit more boost into them soon around another 5-8 psi with a retune and some bigger cams am expecting around the 550-570 hp@all 4. Graet turbos for the price in my opinion.

Not messing around mate you sounded like you didnt have much hope getting it all done a week or so ago. What a difference a week makes hey. Good luck with it all. Will no doubt see you before then so will be good to check out the transformation in the flesh. Did you end up going thru the dash with the cage? as i said you may as well have as you know what the future holds for this thing mate. Stipped out race car

Will post some detailed pics of the radiator in my build up thread in the next day or so. Is quite simple really just has the oil cooler mounted in the end tank with a -12 inlet and outlet. Works really well as gets oil and water up to operating temp pretty quickly and also works a treat at keeping the oil temp spot on. As proven by Giants car as i was with them in tsukuba in december and let me tell you there were some pretty low temps early in the mornings and didn't get much warmer through the day and there was no need for a heater to get the oil up to temp. So i personally doubt you would need one in oz even in the southern states if running this set up and as stated earlier it saves on space so that has to be a + with any GTR.

Godzilla Runs 7.84 At 182mph In Final

Congrats on the huge effort Mark resetting the benchmark all the time will be great to see you claim the world record mate. Doing all ozzy GTR fans proud. -
As far as getting the oil up to temp both my car and Giant (Russ's) car have custom raditors with the oil cooler built into the end tank so the oil gets up to operating temp within a few minuites of just idling so is definatly not a problem and saves a lot of space as well not having to fit and external oil cooler. Dan (9krpm) the hi octane dry sump kit that they sell stil retains the air con and mounts the pump under the altinator so that wont be a problem if you want to keep your a/c.

R33 Gtr Engine Price Drop
dazmo replied to dazmo's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
ENGINE SOLD. -
Not to sure on the specs of this turbo but do not be lead to believe that garret turbos are the same spec as HKS though the add does state that they are similar so is not claiming they are the same. But many people will try and tell you they are. I can tell you without a doubt that they are not and the HKS turbo will outperform the eqivelent garret every time. Not taking anything away from the garrets as they are a very good turbo but i would be chaseing priceing on genuine HKS as a comparrison.

Just thought I would post a little update the car is going to have the motec fitted and a prelimanarly tune done the first week in september so will update with some figures as soon as this is done. -
Hey mate I have a 3 gallon (12lt) tank in my car and also in anothetr GTR that i have built with a dry sump and it will not be a problem . I went with this size as the larger oil volume will help to keep the oil temps down as well. As far as oil changes I just let gravity do the best job it can as you will never get all the oil out of the lines alternativly you can take the pump belt of the crank get yourself an extra drive pully (price is around $120) disconnect the scavenge return line and use a power drill to turn the pump over untill you have removed all the oil but imho that is not necessary. As giant stated once you have gone to a dry sump you wont have any dramas with spun bearings so the amount of used oil in the lines wont be a problem especially when you consider that you are adding at least 10 - 12lt of fresh oil each time. As for the oil cooler you should definatly run it on the pressure (delivery) side of the pump as you always want the coolest oil going into the engine as this is far better for bearing life. I run my set up pressure from the pump to oil filter then to oil cooler then to the engine if you do it this way you will spot on and should not have a problem mate.

All I will say is Yes it did involve one of his cars I have no idea why he is called Giant??

Oil Control In Rb's For Circuit Drag Or Drift
dazmo replied to Sydneykid's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hey mate i could not give you an exact figure on what my dry sump has cost me as i have not added up all the braided line and fittings but hi octane do a dry sump kit that retains the ac if you want to I think they sell them for around 6 or 7k without the lines, fittings, tanks or breather tank etc. A quick break down of my set up without lines or fittings. modified sump (purchased from hi octane) $2300,5 stage peterson pump $1850,gear drive for pump and balancer $190,custom drive for balancer $150,Peterson 3 gallon oil tank $650,breather tank $120,peterson scavage filters 4 of @ $70,custom pump mount $350,oil sandwich plate $150 and a shitload of braided hose and fittings couldn't tell how much dollars worth. i would say at least $3-4k worth so is not cheap but is a lot cheaper than a f----d engine especially as my car is going to live its whole life on the track. -
12 sec bracket should not be a problem my R33GTR ran 12.6 with standard exhaust standard air box with paper filter with the stock boost restrictor removed so running 14psi. Good luck with it.

Cheap compared to a f--ked engine or engines especially if you plan on doing a lot of klm's on the track. -

DRY SUMP IS DEFINATLY THE WAY TO GO. -
I dont know how these guys are still in buisness if they treat thier customers like that. It seems that you are not the only one they have stuffed around. If i had paid for a product and had been waiting a year for delivery i would pretty much consider that they are trying to rip me off (long before a year went past) and would get a solicitor to draft a letter threatening legal action and have that sent to them (the cost would be fairly minimul and better than getting ripped or waiting as long as you already have). It is amazing how dodgy companys will quickly become quite helpfull in that situation. The excuses about ordering the wrong bonnet would not fly with me either as that is their problem not yours as they are meant to be a professional company and it is their service you are meant to be paying for even if the bonnet is a custom order it would not take anywhere near that long to be made. Good luck with it and hope it works out well for you.

What Do You Guys Think Of This Before I Buy It?
dazmo replied to BillyMako's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Firstly you dont say how many klm's are supposed to be on it. I would never pay much attention to klm's on an import but would judge the car more by the overall condition, how much you have to pay for it, what year model it is, if it is raws, sevs or 15 year old mod plate compliance, what if any mods are on the car these are all factors to consider and no offence but the pics you have posted are not the best quality so is difficult to asses the condition of the car. answer these questions and it will be a lot easier to give you an opinion. -
Dazmo's R33gtr Build
dazmo replied to dazmo's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Hey mate will definatly be keen on putting together a taem for the QLD 500 I would say Mark and Russ would be more than interested aswell. Would be a great event and I think a team of GTR's would do really well in that event. I will be catching up with Russ this weekend sometime so will gee him up and will have a chat to you about at the next track day. -

Dazmo's R33gtr Build
dazmo replied to dazmo's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Makes everything a lot easier to work on as well have been keeping my eye on Mark & Duncans build as well and there is some talk about removing the booster to get a better more consistant pedal feel. So will look into this aswell seems like just a bit of fiddling around to get the right pedal ratio as at this point I am not really considering a pedal box. This may change down the track if a better brake upgrade is done but first i need to finish it and let the bank balance recover
