Definately waiting for PLay TV much cheaper than foxtel IQ ( its free to air) and will be one less remote for my home theatre system. Like the fact you can record to the PS3 as well. Lots of discussion on it in the whirlpool forums.

i had always been an xbox guy, got my original xbox chipped wth 250GB HDD to whack more stuff on it. In buying the home theatre it really was a no brainer, PS3 with the Blu ray all the way. My original xbox has never had a problem and still ticks away playing DVD movies on my tv in the bedroom, but the PS3 does a great job of the blu rays. What Sony did a sh*t job at though was not enabling other remotes to control DVD playing. I got a nice Logitech remote for my birthday does everything, turns on the projector, stereo, tv tuner..... but cant do the PS3 due to the remote being blu tooth i think they said (i think its 2.4ghz), there are options and an adaptor you can buy for $60 - $70 but that is the same price as a remote anyway. JB Hifi had a deal for 300 and Batman plus pS3 remote for $50 but i just want to get rid of the remote all together :-) Really like the PS3 and the options it offers, would have been nice if they thought a bit more about remote compatability. This new PS3 doesnt look as Classy IMHO, the original was a nice gloss finish and has the stand, but the new one is a mat finish and apparently you have to purchase the stand seperately if you want to stand it upright.

Hmmm thats the nice series 1 as well Funky. I own the series 2 but really like the blue LCD display of the series 1. Not sure what key quality is like though???

I think with how cheap the G15 is at the moment i would prob go the G15. I havent used those keyboards but the g15 has everything and mroe than i need it to do, plus the nice little LCD scren at the top gives me a touch of rice to my PC. The only problem with the G15 is the cheapness of the keys themselves, the keys just feel a bit too plasticy and loose as i type, its nothing major but compared to most other high end keyboards the keys just dont feel as nice???? Could just be me though.....

speak to your supplier? Also i would expect the fans to sound a bit more noisy at 80degrees, my card (not a 285) when it hits about 70 - 75 turns its fans on higher automatically but it can take a while for it to kick in for when the fans turn on. In regards to Riva, yes the most recent drivers brought out by NVIDIA arent usable in Riva Tuner, i just discussed this recently in the PC setup thread. Long story short i uninstalled the new drivers, found an older driver and now Riva tuner is working sweet. Provided there is a driver approx 3 - 4 months ago for the 285 roll back your driver and then play again with Riva Tuner. Hope that helps.....
-
Talking about GFX cards.... If you have OC'd your graffix card and you are using RivaTuner DONT UPDATE TO THE LATEST NVIDIA DRIVER. Long story short the new driver is not supported by Riva Tuner as yet and the latest riva tuner is still close to a month away So all my clocking of my 9800GTX has now gone :-( There are some work arounds but generally they only change the fan settings under load NOT the OC itself. Quite annoying really.

Just saw a nice Sapphire 4890 OC'd at PC case gear for only $315 These things are getting cheap now! Edited - Sorry, might put this in the 'good deals' thread

CPU is clockable, but you might want to update the graphics card. We had talked a little while ago about massive price drops on the current range of high end cards as dx11 is due prob early next year in which case if you can hold out you could a $600 card now for close to half price. Could be worth the wait.

prae - why the e8500 over the e8400? Isnt the norm these days the e8400 becuase of its high clocks it produces. Have not researched the price differences but most of the whirlpool and toms hardware users seemed to really like the e8400. 31Nismoid, what cooling system will you be using? PCcasegear just got some high end water cooling on their main page that the updated recently. The water cooling i am referring to though looks pretty expensive. There is also water cooling block that i think xigmatek made, similar size to a CPU cooling fan, but runs water through it instead. Anyways i want to see pics of your water cooling setups!

I had to make sure my audio was in linear. On the main menu there is an audio section, i had to play around with that for a while and ensure my 5.1 was reentered and ensured that it was set to 'linear'.
-
N DAWG Please post pics of that setup!, sounds awesome mate, when my dual core becomes outdated i really want to go all out on water cooling etc! I am waaay to scared to do all that right now to my case etc incae if something goes wrong. Is there much maintenance required in running water cooling? I shouldr eally start a thread on water cooling yeah? I would like to know if rusting etc occurs, or if the liquid needs to be changed over regularly?

Even though i dont work in the IT industry anymore i would love to go, might check if its coming to Perth! I am still hanging out to purchase the new G19 keyboard.... Can you guys time some pics for me at all by any chance on new gaming hardware like keyboards/mice, also if you see any new DX11 cards that have been talked about releasing in the future. Have fun guys! Sounds awesome!

As of lastnight i have started playing the witcher, my 9800GTX card has been still up there with maxing out a lot of games graffix, but with the witcher all my graphics are set on medium and resolution is down. Which could be a good thing meaning that the graffix engine in it is advanced?? Have many of you witcher players noticed it is graffix hungry?

thats a nice keyboard as well looks like somehting from the Dr Who Tardis. But i just cant go past the LCD screen, its like Rice and performance meet together on the one uber keyboard! kinda like pink Neons and Nos having s3x and creating this key board. If that Saitek one had an LCD screen i would prob go for that :-) I just cant spend 400 on it though.. that a little rich when i could get a nice nvidia 275 or ATI4890 for around that price range. Might have to ask the mrs for xmas or pray for a good tax return.... or.....Cmon K.RUDD stimulate me again!
-
Bugger! i didnt realise it was going to be that expensive, was thinking more the $250 mark. No doubt they will probably make a version 2 with smaller screen like they did the G15. I quite like the look of it though, the full colour LCD screen looks MAD!
-
Incase you havent seen it yet the G19 is on its way and I am hangin for it!! http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_p...oducts_id=11164 If anyone knows how much it will be going for please let us know. I have the updated version 2 G15 gaming keyboard and cant wait for this one to come out! **FREE PLUG*** My version 2 G15 is only 4 months old and still with plastic cover on the LCD screens, boxes everything, i will definately get this new G19 prob in June so if anyone wants to buy a mint condition ver2 G15 gaming keyboard let me know :-)

Many uni lecturers beleive that Creatine is one of the many few supplements that actually do assist in muscle growth. I have run over 9 gyms (Area manager for one of Australias largest chains of gyms) so you get pretty good at knowing whats good etc not too mention training for over 10 years. The problem that i regularly encounter is supplements are just that.... 'supplements' they are to be used when your dietry intake of something is insuffice. If you are not having enough protein and meats etc then yes a protein SUPPLEMENT will give you protein and assist in amino acids chains etc. likewise with creatine.

I dont agree, i have had superpump, free bottles of the stuff, Gaspari does make some good products but does not give me the same buzz. I think its the much higher amounts of caffeine and Vitamin B in the NO Explode that does it. Many will say that they prefer NO over Superpump and vica versa, its becoming like the ford vs holden debate.....
-
No Explode Cell mass after training Protein shake if i am feeling a bit hungry. Otherise large loads of chicken and tuna for me. I am adddicted to the NO xplode before training, i am somewhat caffeine sensitive though which is prob why NO explode seems to work so well with me, tried hydroxy cut 3 times and couldnt really sleep too well so did not keep it up. As mentioned earlier, the more protein you have you also need to ensure you use it/ burn it off, many milk substances can also leave you feeling bloated

I think Mayuri was gatting an i7 a little while ago. Mayuri - is there a massive difference in gaming? i thougt the gfx card would be the better one to spend the $$ on rather than going the i7 at the moment.... maybe I stand corrected?? I just did not think there was still any games capable of using the true i7 goodness as yet and it would be better money spent on the gfx over the cpu at the moment. Any idea when we go from 10.1 to 11 for graphics? then the price war starts all over again :-)

Key board & mouse? add another $200 for some decent ones, my G15 gaming keyboard is quite nice and goes for $99, also there is the new microsoft wireless gaming mouse for about $100 as well you may as well invest in. As aweinspiring that system is, its just not needed with todays tech, i am still maxing out most of games on the old 9800GTX grafics card and dual core, might be better instead of going the i7 at the moment to get everything you listed except for it, save yourself a grand or so in doing so and pick up a very nice high end quad core in the process. Can the i7 motherboards still run the old quad cores and dual cores as well, or is it just specific for i7's? Oh yeah +1 for the blu ray burner as well! I havent got one but i wouldnt mind one!

Geeeeez nice work lococard, so is that a 22 and 2 x 19s on there side?

Yup as R31 Nismoid said, another E8400 convert here, still love it and happy with the cpu! I am not as hardcore as R31Nismoid in the clocking but mine runs nicely at just 3.3 ghz (only a .3 ghz step up) but could do more when games actually require it. So save the money and get the e8400 core, great overclocker and value for money! I run farcry2 with a older 9800GTx card fine with most settings at optimal, i love the 4870x2 and if i had the money would get it, however, i still think it may be a little bit overkill for some of todays games though, i wish someone would actually bring out a game that could use its full capabilities. Most of the games i am playing I am able to max out still on my old 9800GTX "most" not crysis though, that thing kills it :-)
