Rebuild Kit For Hks/garrett Gt-ss
Kaido_RR replied to Kaido_RR's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
normally i would agree with you beer baron, but the place i took it too the main sales guy was an asshole to me keep telling me my turbos weremt HKS because they were no marking on the housing and that all hks turbo have marking on the housing, at which point i try to explain to him that the new GT-SS and GT-RS do not have HKS marking but he continue to try and tell me otherwise. and talk down to me This is the 1st time buying turbos from yahoo that i have had an issue :S oh well even if i have to get them rebuild still cost me cheaper than a set of brand new garrett -
Rebuild Kit For Hks/garrett Gt-ss
Kaido_RR replied to Kaido_RR's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
thanks hypergear i will check it out i took them to a garrett dealer here and they said they could be repair, part was $200, labour $300 and rebalance is $75 so works out to be $600 a turbo. If it is a simple swap of a part i rather do it myself than pay the $300labour per turbo. so i am assuming that they didn't notice any wheel contact. -
Rebuild Kit For Hks/garrett Gt-ss
Kaido_RR replied to Kaido_RR's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
i don't know if they were blowing smoke. the turbo have aheap of oil in the rear housing, and the front wheels looks like its cover in oil dirt. also there seems to be oil in the inlet were it connects the the manifold how can i check the core? the turbos are a year old. no shaft play (very min, and spin nicely) edit: bought the turbo 2nd hand and seller say wasn't blowing smoke :S -
Well looks like both the oil seals have gone in my hks gt-ss, so i will need a rebuild kit. Is it possible to do the job myself? (is it as simple as swapping out the worn/damage seals?) Also does anyone have the part number for the oil seals? and do i need anything else? (the shaft and wheels are fine on both turbos and spin with min shaft play)

How To Diagnose Blown Turbo Oil Seal
Kaido_RR replied to Kaido_RR's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
bought a set of turbo for my gtr from japan, and trying to work out if the oil in the rear housing is from when they were packed and the oil leak out of the oil lines or if the seal is gone -
Hi, What are the indicators that a turbo has blown is oil seal, and were would the oil be leaking into the turbo? (rear housing around the turbo wheel or?) Cheers

Internal allen key wheel nuts will fit, if you want to go for std wheel nuts they need to be 17mm outside dia
-
keen as paul or dan pm me bank details, i see if i can get some mates to come along aswell
-
i was under the understand that if you wanted a custom fit one, they would need to see the car? good to be proven wrong, must give them a call and see what the price is for the half cage for the r32
-
The problem i had with bonds was that because they didn't have the off the shelf cage for my car at the time, and my car was in perth they couldn't supply me one But you are right that they are cheaper i think my friend pay $900 or around that for his bolt-in full cage (around the dash) for his evo 7 and the qaulity was second to none and was larger dia compare to the cusco too. I'm not sure if bonds can supply an r32 gtr cage without seeing the car but if they could i would be very interested even if it was 1k for a half cage. i think i may have to call them very soon
-
what are the plans for the car? Do the events you plan on entering required a cage? If no then yes cusco or safety 21 would be your cheapest opinion, If you look around in the for sale section you can pick up a cheap second hand cage for around the $500 mark. Don't buy one from Japan, because it will be a complete ass to get it here in Australia unless you have access to a container. i was quote $1000 for shipping by RHD japan for shipping of a brand new cusco roll cage, which no longer makes a $800 cage cheap

Wheel Spacers On A Gtr?
Kaido_RR replied to Marko R1's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Nothing wrong with spacers, people who say they are unsafe etc have no clue. ran spacers 15mm bolt on (without hub rings) on my track R33 gtst with over 350rwhp, no issue on the many track days i did The issue is when people running SLIP ON spacers with std wheel studs, as it reduced the amount of thread your wheel nut has contact with. PM-R33 i use kics spacers, very high quality and would recommended however they do cost more than the normal china spacers -
Sean at allstar can tune emanage but he dislikes it alot, the main reason behind this is that he had major issue trying to tune one on my mates turbo accord sent alot of dyno time and just couldn't get the thing to work. No matter what he did the ecu couldn't add enough fuel. even with the fuel map set to 100% the car was still leaning out in top rpm. It interesting because a tuner in the eastern state, raves about the emanage and how good it is for a piggy-pack ecu but it seems no one in perth has yet to them to work correctly What model PFC are you looking for they are becomming rare but still are common on yahoo auction for R33/34 model. Looking around 1-1.5k due to exchange rate.
