  1. Hi Tom, A very informative post. Very well written. I have to agree on everything you have said as I used a lightweight flywheel from Xtreme Clutches on a WRX. I got the exact same resultsa as you did with your clutch, car. cheers Adam
  2. Agree with everything pnblight has said. I use the Redline lightweight Shock Proof Oil - great stuff and I have the C's Short Shift - another great item, just wish I had the OS Giken Cross gear set......mmmmm very nice
  3. You'll get it if its done right. The OS Gearset has been in cars with over 500awkw & alot of racing , she'll hold unless you do something really stupid The exhaust system is critical, well everything is critical. Very careful planning is neccessary if you want these results. 3" system will not get you there. A 3.5" straight through system and a screamer pipe venting to atmo or a 4" dump then a split twin 3" system will do the job. The twin system would be better as there will be good flow, less noise and more flexiblity as you don't have to run "no cat systems" & screamer pipes venting to atmo.
  4. 272 cams, some nice lift say 10.2 or more, big exhaust system and fuel setup, I'd say 470-480awkw running 26psi and push the T04Z all the way!!! Check on R32-GTS results which was on Ultimate 98. Running Extreme is good for another 10-20kw on top so I don't see a problem. This is very similer to a setup I want BTW running 9.0:1 CR is so very nice, don't forget about good quech. cheers Adam
  5. Jim Berry rebuilt my Nismo Twin Plate Clutch. All I can say about Jim is that he is the man, I asked for the whole cake and I got to eat it when I asked him what I wanted from a clutch as Nismo Clutch's are fantastic and he made it better! He even rang me after I had my clutch installed to see if I was happy and if there was anything he could do - nobody does that stuff anymore but Jim!!! Once you use one of his clutch's you'll be saying the same thing, just like everyone else thats used his clutch's.
  6. 20 psi will get you there as I have done this on my GTR with a RB26 (400kw). Others have also acheived this, same turbo, boost, cams. A note on this is that head work is required to lower flow resrictions You can get this running 260 cams or more if you run larger cams. Running 25psi will get you 450-470 mark as R32-GTS got 468kw with 25psi running 272 cams. This of course will all depend on your tuner, but the engine is capable. Even more so with a RB30 bottom end - very nice
  7. Different oils have different operating temp range. Its just a guess but I'd say around 70 degress and most temp sensors are just between the oil filter and the block.
  8. Replace the hose with silicon items, problem solved!
  9. Its looking HOT!!!! B) Your doing a great job Brad, keep it coming
  10. Hi Pete, I have a 48mm PWR radiator with a Nismo Thermostate & a N1 Water Pump. The cooler you have it the better unless its that cold that your ECU tries to richen it up which I doubt. The only thing I found is that the heater might not work as good during a cold night but thats about it. On the oil temp side, well as long as its in its operating temp range you won't have a problem. Its a good idea to have an oil temp thermostate to regulate that, you might have one already. BTW I have a 9L custom sump with a HKS Oil Cooler that has a built in thermostate.
  11. Just wanted to know if anyone has a suggestion on what muffler to use. At present I have a 3.5" dump pipe, screamer pipe which goes straight through to a 3.5" HKS Super Dragger. The crappy thing is that the HKS Super Dragger sounds nice but has a 3" restrictor in it! If you look at the rear there is a funny bend piece which goes down to 3". If I want to reach the 450awkw range, there is no hope with a 3" restrictor in it. BTW this is all in a GTR R33 with a built RB26 Engine. Can't get the thing tuned properly until the right size muffler is in place, any suggetions on a 3.5" muffler?
  12. When it starts getting over 120 degrees, start looking at oil coolers and with the brakes, yep brake fluid will help & a good set of pads. Try the Motul RBF600 brake fuild & RB74 front pads with comp2 rear pads. Another thing is don't ride the brakes, what I mean is brake and then take your foot off as any friction will build up heat.
  13. Go the R33 GTR crank, better option. Bolt on sump baffles are good -custom baffles with one way metal trap doors are better, also larger capacity sump, oil restritor in the head, an external line from the rear of the head to the sump. R34 GTR crank is no different to the R33 GTR crank. Contact Greg from Proengines, he goes by the username of proengines on here. I have had my engine rebuilt by him and he is exceptional. He would be able to answer your rebuild questions & if you search his previous posts he goes in depth & is very helpful.
  14. Just like wrxhoon said above. Like all things, having it in its place is good. First have a look at your front diff, there is a small attachment coming off it. It should have a rubber hose coming off this going to that brass piece which should be bolted to the inlet manifold.
  15. Try chiptorque - Lochy is the man!!
  16. I got mine from Stamford Tyres. Great guys and I think they cost me @$50 each.
  17. Its a diff breather. There should be a hose coming off the front diff to that brass thing thats bent at 90 degrees

    Good Dyno Tuner

Try searching first as this topic about tuners has been covered to death!!!
  19. Keep the piping the same size as the diameter as the outlet of the turbo. Only go bigger if you have to say to connect to the intercooler or throttle body. There is no point going any larger, a system is only as good as the smallest point.
  20. I've got a screamer pipe on my GTR but its a single turbo with an external wastegate. Its sounds crazy!! I've been told that internal wastegate turbo's vented to atmo don't sound too good, never heard one so can't say myself.
  21. Brad, if you run into any problems with the CDI unit, I set mine up all myself. I had to even solder a chip into the SMC ECU but you won't have to do this as I had dwell chips to control ignition before. The Ign output are incorrect on the installation instructions - cost me 4 days of pulling my hair out to sort it out. Can't wait for you to get this all together and started!! Adam
  22. Good work Brad, things are looking good!! I deal with workshops that are actually going to do the job, only way of quality control. I know I may of mentioned this before but Greg from Proengines (username: proengines) does some excellent work. He has always been honest, reliable and he even does the followup after the job is done!! Anyway shims are not too bad to sort out, even when you think you ordered the right sizes they do at times need adjusting, just time consuming stuff but easy. Merry christmas to all!! Adam PS. I know your running the Autronic SMC with Autronics CDI, what coils are you running? Just finished my CDI install - Autronics SMC , now with Autronics CDI & running 6 x Mercury Outboard Coils.
