  1. Woohoo another nfs game this one is like underground 2 but mixed with hot pursuit u can mod ur cars and stuff and race anywhere like in underground 2 but you can get chased by the cops like hot pusuit which i reckon is way cool the aim of the game is to get up the blacklist (like the url in underground 2) by outruning cops, getting fast times, pulling sic moves in front of cops etc you build a rap sheet of all ur crimes - the bigger the rap sheet - the higher up the blacklist you go now i reckon that this is game should have been released a long time ago i cant wait ( November this year in USA, sooo probably early january, february next year, though maybe early december - just in time for christmas) :jump: pawn the cops!!!!!!! :matrix: :chairshot
  2. far out people why do you think they put the intercooler at the front of the car? the hot air from the turbo is passed through the cooler, and because the air is hotter than the ambient temp, the hot air tries to heat up the whole cooler, thus making the air cool and the cooler warm, but, when you are moving, the air passes through and around the cooler, cooling it down, and thus allowing the air from the turbo to try and heat up more of the cooler, thus allowing you to pack more air into the engine (cooler air = less dense = more air particles in unit area = more power =more fun!) if you put the pod on one end and connect the other end to the throttle body, provided the pod is getting coolish air, passing it through the cooler (which will be colder than the air from the pod), the air will try and heat the cooler up to the air's temp, this in turn will cool the air going into the engine. but because the air is going from something that is relatively small (the intake pipe from the pod) and going to saomething large (the cooler) and then going into something small again (the connection to the throttle), the air is going to loose 'punch,' it is going to be sucked in with force, then loose that suction as it goes into the cooler, but because it is being forced into a small opening again, it gains 'punch' but not as big a 'punch' as before, but you will have the added advantage of having cooler air. this wil mean that you will gain a few more ponies (not many), but definetly more torque but hey, by all means, give it a go, see what happens, then tell us the results and it often happens that what is said in theory, actually doesn't happen quite the same in practice (therefore i could be totally wrong - but in theory it works)
  3. Heres some info on the engine taken from www.r31skylineclub.com 6 Cylinder overhead cam Bore 86mm Stroke 85.0mm Capacity 2962 cc Compression ratio 9.0:1 Overall Length 4,653mm Overall Width 1,690mm Overall Height 1,395mm Wheelbase 2,610mm Spark Plugs Type BCP 6ES-11 Hot type BCP 5ES-11 Cold type BCP 7ES-11 Spark Plug Gap 1.0-1.1mm Firing Order 1-5-3-6-2-4 Distributor Make Bosch Rotation of rotor Anticlockwise Engine Idle speed 700 ± 50 RPM Ignition timing 15° ± 2°bdtc at 700 ± 50 RPM Compression Pressure Standard 1196k Minimum 883kPa Thermostat Type wax pellet Opening temperature 76.5 deg Ignition coil Primary resistance 0.9-1.0 ohm Secondary resistance 9000-10000 ohms High pressure fuel pump Type electric roller Fuel pressure at idle 206kPa Fuel pressure at zero vacuum 255 kPa you might want to check out http://darkhalf.r31skylineclub.com/ 4 more info nissan didn't actually think of putting a turbo on the rb30e i thought i know that holden had a new car - the vl and they had there old tired engine (the red six i think) they knew that nissan had developed a new six cyl (the rb30e) and so they went into partnership, nissan sold holden there engine as long as it was still recognised as the rb30e from nissan, but holden could do with it what they wanted holden went into testing mode with the rb30e and after testing, they realised that by beefing up the drivetrain, gearbox and diff, that they could wack a garret t3 turbo on and boost power therefore they developed the rb30et, a nissan engine, modded by holden (that sounds really wacky!) the vl's came out as late as 89, even though the vn's were out around 88 the vl's came out with a 5litre v8 and a little later on ( a couple months later) the came out with the vl with the rb30e and the rb30et, and holden stopped making the 5 litre v8 model towards the end of the vl's production (but continued on with the rb30e and rb30et)
  4. yea i know though it was done only a couple of times (pulling excess of load limit) but yea pour money into ur 4 door as 88sillo said "4 doors are the shit"
  5. dad has pulled in excess of a 1500kg with our r31 (and so have i) and yes the trailer makes it pull around a bit, but as a tow car i reckon they are awesome the midrange to topend torque means that you can pull around a tonne, and still manage to overtake cars at around 130kmh (from about 90kmh) we have had our car fully laden, towing a trailer (around 800-900kg) and still managed to overtake cars easily
  6. you should pick up a decent r31 for around 2-3k if ur lucky see if you can get a silhouette with a man tranny but watch out, my cuz bought an r31 sill with a man tranny, and he had 2 spend big on getting it fixed up (it wash shot...it dropped fluid, the gears were rooted, in the end he spent about a grand getting it properly redone and getting a full service on the engine diff and gearbox and if you get a auto make sure it doesn't get stuck in certain gears ... if i hammer our r31 when rolling (like pulling into a parking area when wet, and getting the back end to go sideways...hehehehehe) it will get stuck in second gear to get it out again i need to shut down the engine and then start her back up again but there is no need to worry, just make sure you spend a little while looking 4 a good quality one cause as has been said numerous times, these cars can cop a lot of shit even though they have relativly low power (compared to like the new 1.8l corolla that has 145kw compared to the 114kw of the r31) the torque of these beasts will leave a corolla in the dust they take of relativly quick and can be redlined no worries (when mum drives it she often redlines it on take off ... hehe) they are fun as 2 drive, and especially when turning right from a stop they can leave a nice big black mark (that is without lsd ... the engine rotates, when in the car, clockwise, applying more power to the right hand side, making it easier to leave smoke when turning right) hopefully all the pros and cons of this car make you buy one, cause they are fun as 2 drive, can cop a lot of shit, and leave a lot of other cars on the road in the dust
  7. wooh man that it seriously sweet i wish i had the dosh to buy one like that
  8. 2400lb is around 1090kg (actually 1088.6 kilo) so it is really lighter than your car (by about 60kg) :Bang: :kick:
  9. holy shit that thing must have flew the potential of that rb26 is huge ..port and polished heads, blueprint block, aftermarket cams, cranks, pistons and con rods.. im drooling already (mind you it probably will blow the farking engine up)!!!
  10. i go to curtin uni in wa, and on one of the network drives there was a vid clip of these guys in the middle east with a vt commodore and another type of car (dont ask me what it was) and they were cutting sick as drifts in them. one guy got the vt to 360 about 5 times, and then pulled out and kept going. in the middle of the highway they would drift the vt across a 5 lane highway and drift it back, it was seriously mad shit. then one guy nearly killed himself; he drifted the vt across the road, then came back, but too far, man, the smoke from the handbrakie was unreal (he managed to pull out, but only just, he nearly rolled it beacuse it was so far sideways) im telling ya, these middle eastern countries have got a thing for these commodores
  11. far out man that thing is lethal good effort, well done man :headspin: :headspin: :headspin: :headspin: :headspin: :headspin:
  12. thanks for all the info guys (relevant and non relevant) i think if something goes wrong, i will know what to do oh yea, how can u tell if the diff is an lsd cause yesterday i trompt it at a u-turn, and i went back afterwards and both wheels had made marks (i think it was me anyway) my friend did it at the same u turn a little while ago, and he doesnt have an lsd in his skyline and only the inside wheel spun
  13. yea i know there not as good as a skyline hell, it has to be compared to something (ie if that goes like a rocket, than just imagine what a skyline would be classed as...i can see it know: 'skyline travels in hyperspace: edge of galaxy reached') it is a late model 94 and if i remember rightly the last 94's were EL's (look i could be wrong too, it could be an early 95, but i hope not   )
  14. not bad f*** thats the skyline from 2f2f!!!!!! ohhhh yea, my balls just dropped further
  15. what do you guys think of a '94 EL Falcon one of my friends just got one check this: 11 years old, about 160 000km on clock clean as a whistle, not a drop o oil on engine anywere he only has a small leak in the master cylinder he got a fairly new straight through cat back exhaust from an EB put on new seals and gaskets extractors are in the pipeline :aroused: this thing goes like a rocket :flamed: :kick: (good old straight 6 4litre) how much would u expect 2 pay for something like that i dont know how much he got it for, but i know it was a very good price
  16. or... find the fuse for the immobiliser (if there is one), pull it out, put it back in it might work, it might not or... disengage the battery from the car (ie pull one lead off), and try to disarm the immobliser, connect the battery again and then try disengage it again or... just do what slidewaysrb25det said, and then get another immobiliser thingabob
  17. i just found out that a new diff was dropped in a year half ago, so it will last for a long time now
  18. maybe it was tuned too low i know it might sound stupid, but i know our '88 exec actually is tuned to 16 or so degrees from top dead centre and it runs better than at 15 degrees (thats what the sticker says on the underside of the bonnet, should be left hand side, near the front) that might need to be checked (some people are actually silly and tune it too slightly less than what it should be, and yes i have seen this been done, from a mechanic!)
  19. hell yea they are underated couple of my friends in the last six months have bought skyline wagons (sII and sIII) and they trash there cars (one went through three cars in 6 months!), but these have stood up to the challenge they do all sorts of shit to them, one just today got a nice standstill going, without an LSD in the back, and with a car load of people the r31's are rough, tough and take a LOT of shit
  20. does any body know of cat back exhausts that will go onto a series 3 r31 ('89) skyline executive? how much would it cost? will a cat back exhaust 4 a VL commodore fit? please dont shoot me down, cause im a n00b, i even checked and searched the forums, and not much was found
  21. is it known that the r31 executives (series 3) had (have) gearbox diff probs? our exec has a bad 2nd gear change, and the diff whines sometimes (ie after service, but prob normal)
  22. series 3 r31 skyline executive 114kw 209nm they kick ass in the wet dad pulled 800kg trailer, 4 people in car and still got to 150km/h no worries
