  1. Fair argument. I guess you missed reading my signature, anyway best of luck with the car.
  2. Lack of general knowledge about a car model does not infer you know nothing about rebuilding engine internals, RIPS for example might not know the turbo layout on say a supra, doesn't mean he is incompetent though.
  3. Im having a hard time understanding how the VCT could change the timing enough to cause your results to be that bad?
  4. To be really sure you need to test the temperature pre intercooler and post intercooler, even if the value is wrong at least you'll see a percentage drop knowing everything is working. If you can get a proper pt100 sensor and datalogger you can then see what the real temperature is, need to check the specs to see what the lag time is though, they might not respond fast enough to be accurate.
  5. Because an rb25 barely costs anymroe and bolts in with essentially zero modifications, the other motors aren't a cheap bolt in affair, if they were cheaper to buy and install I would completely agree with putting an LS3 in. Ignoring your race series which you didn't mention I would use this as a fantastic example of why you should buy an rb25, it is such a small cost difference when you are already blowing that much cash so why not get the extra 25% capacity if it is basically free? It would make even more power with 25% extra capacity... Extra capacity gives you a wider smoother flatter powerband.... VCT also improves your power band, you would have to be the first person who actually thinks VCT is a detrimental feature. The first one was a backyard build that came with the car, I didn't trust it so put an rb25 in with the nissan stamp of approval, after selling the forgies etc it only cost me $1000, with all the other goodies that came with the car I have 260kw engine with stock drivability that only cost me $10k, Id hazard a guess most people have spent more than this to make less power. Like I said before, why not go a step further and use a CA18 if you really do find it great fun?
  6. It will show the same error codes, if you replace the coil packs get yellow jackets or splitfires, dont go wasted spark.
  7. Why didn't you just say this to start with?
  8. Sounds like you have dodgy loom/wiring, get the entire loom sorted first then plug in a consult cable and find out what sensors are "Failing" and get them fixed/re wired as it is most likely a wiring problem. Regarding the misfire that explains why it is going rich at high rpm, a miss will make AFR drop massively, almost certainly f**ked coilpacks failing and causing the issue like the other 9000 people with this problem do a search as there are about 10 threads 40 pages long with the same issue. Short answer is you have weak spark, decreasing spark gap helps fix the problem, also making your motor not run as rich (retune) will help fix problem as leaner mixture is easier to ignore. You may have an intake leak causing the motor to run excessively rich, this will exasperate the misfiring problem as you now have a harder to ignite richer mixture. Best of luck.
  9. Do a smoke test on the intake, you'll find the leak in 30 seconds.
  10. Well if that is how you get your jolleys why not take it a step further and put a CA18E motor in your skyline and spend $15k making it perform almost as well as a stock rb20det? It just sounds absolutely mind boggling retarded pushing shit up hill with a motor like this, cost more, takes more time, won't work as well, basically everything is worse, more difficult and the end result is worse than a stock rb25det neo in absolutely every single regard. Just throw it in the bin and buy a motor that was designed to do what you want, not try and hack up the piece of shit model to almost do what you want. You can get a sense of achievement studying an engineering degree, spending $10k on a boat anchor or a motor isn't a sense of achievement, it is borderline retardation. I will never understand why people do things like this, there is good reason why it has never been done before... edit: you've gone and removed the one feature that would have made this a half decent motor.. VCT. Now I really have to ask are you just doing this to troll us? Yep pretty much you might as well just throw all your cash in your fireplace otherwise! It also has an extra 25% capacity so drives infinitely better along with having VCT
  11. Still doesn't mean anyone in their right mind would pay $750....
  12. You don't need a stock or quiet exhaust for regency, I've been through 3 times with a straight through 3" exhaust with a single muffler at the rear.
  13. How much $ for gearbox sent to SA? Condition of box ok, any bearing noise, syncros crunchy etc?
  14. rb20 box with no noises, decent syncros, looking for adelaide pickup, $3-400 max
  15. Just play the game as best you can and don't drive like a dickhead and more often than not you will be fine. I got an application to modify my car with all my mods listed, idle emissions test and keep the inspection record in my glovebox, if your car looks stock, you show them this and don't act like a twat you'll be fine the majority of the time,
  16. Get an idle emissions test and send in an application to modify your vehicle, they will come back saying you need an emissions test, once you have that you can go to regency to have it inspected and then you will get a nice piece of paper to put in your glove box saying you are A-Ok, if not then you are up to the mercy of the cop. Actually even with the piece of paper you are up to the mercy of the cop. You can get defected for your exhaust not looking standard, you can get defected for things that do no even physically exist on your car so if they want to defect you, they will. Basically if you draw the wrong sort of attention, guaranteed defect no matter the condition of your car.
  17. I don't do drift or burnouts so my driving style is probably fairly mild, I don't think it would stand up to track abuse day in day out. It does however handle fast shifts and has been almost 4 years with that power behind it and still has plenty of meat and grab on it, it is starting to shudder a little when stone cold in winter but is great the rest of the year. If I did any track work I'd agree with you, right now I'm just looking for the easy solution, don't think I'll keep the car long enough to warrant the $2k investment in putting a 25 box in.
  18. Exedy hd, has lasted much longer than I thought it would, might have a higher pressure pressure plate as I didn't buy it
  19. No one needs LCA bushings? These are the most commonly flogged to bits bush in R32s!
  20. For some reason your post didn't show up until after I posted. I'm not going to do anything to my box, this was just for my curiosity. Cheers
  21. GTSBoy I see you deleted your reply but this was a reply someone on OCAU wrote regarding removing half the syncro "I have done it in a Toyota 5 Speed... Actually took two out of every three synchro teeth.. also cut a heap more oil slots into the friction face of the synchro where it mates to the cone on the gear set. Along with a lot of other small modifications it makes shifting faster if you have your speeds about matched... also increases the odds of breaking syncro rings and suffering premature wear. Takes a bit of experimentation to get the right balance and it ain't a 'quick job' to do.. Unless you are chasing the bleeding edge of performance, it is a waste of time. And if you are chasing the bleeding edge... there are probably better ways of doing it. Again... it falls into the category of "most people only do it so they can brag about the fact they did it"
  22. bought a super pro rear subframe bushing kit... then found my knocking was from somewhere else, they are still new in the bag, kit number W92447 http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/428771-sa-r32-rear-subframe-bushings-white-line-kit-210-unused/ R32 GTS-T Front Lower Control arm Bushings.. then found my bushes were already knew, pedders just jerked me around and said to replace them all they are still new in the bag, kit number SPF1483K http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/428772-sa-r32-front-lower-control-arm-bushings-super-pro-kit-120-unused/
