Neons in NSW are legal if you have white on the front, orange on the side and red on the back. Same goes for any other lights. Obviously looks crap. If you have other neons, it is legal to have them on as long as your car is parked, the engine is off, the doors are locked and you have your keys in your pocket. Sounds weird but this is what I've been told by coppers.

^^^Yeah I have to agree. Its ridiculous when its very dark and hard to see because of the clouds and pouring rain, and some idiots don't have thier lights on because its day-time or because it won't help them see. Don't people notice how easier it is to see a car in bad weather when its got its lights on? I've almost had accidents because of cars I couldn't see, or saw at the last minute. One car came flying up the lane beside me on the F3 in terrible weather without his lights on while I was about to overtake someone. Lucky I just saw him at the last minute or it could have been ugly.
-
Yeah saw it on that beyond tommorow show. They are bloody quick for the price. Who would've thought you could get supercar destroying acceleration from a civic engine. The power-to-weight ratio must be the better than any other street legal car.

People on motorbikes put their lights on to help people see them. As most riders are killed by idiots in cars who don't see them. My mate has his lights on 24/7 for this reason. Some fog lights are ok to use to help other cars see you but usually only in bad weather. They are illegal in NSW though, as are driving lights. Driving lights are legal as long as they are turned off when near other cars just like high beam. My bro-in-law's swift GTi had fog lights which were white and aimed down at the road. He got a fine for driving with them on. The cop said they are only legal to have them on if it is foggy.

The newer ones are good quality though aren't they? I'm not sure about people who drive french cars but I hate people who go slow in the right lane. Some people think that cos they are doing 111kph and the other traffic is doing 110 they have a right to sit in the fast lane. Its a fast lane. Your supposed to be speeding. Its for people like me with 10 points left to loose. Or others with less points who like to live on the edge. Sorry about my rant. But it gives me the sh1ts especially since I gotta go up the freeway to get to work. Pain in the arse when I'm running late and some wanker is puttin along in the fast lane.

Whats The Best Car U've Seen A P-plater Drive ?
Patto- replied to r34_skyline's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Yeah I've seen p platers in RX8 Brand new monaro with 20inch chromies Porsche Cayenne - I think this was mummys car though. R34 GTR heavily modified - this was dads car. Unfortuantely it crashed not too long ago. I'm sure you all know the one I'm talking about. -
That's a weird comment coming from a laser/astina owner. Every grandma has one of them. Anyway, nice car mate. Welcome.

Just thought I better report this problem, though it might not be anything wrong with the forum. A few times when posting pics in the picture battle thread they have not worked properly. Some people can see the pics and others can't. Check the thread to see what I'm talking about. Also I can't see my avatar and some other people's avatar from home, but I can see it when I use the computers at uni. Thought I better post this just so you know and also to satisfy my curiousity on why this happens. Thanks. Edit: OK, at uni now and I can see my avatar but can't see the photos that I posted recently in the picture battle thread. Any ideas why this happens?

Doing a burnout wouldn't really tell you if you had an lsd anyway. A mate of mine was convinced his VT commy had an lsd cos it always got both wheels going. But it didn't, just a standard diff. I think the code/part no. on the diff should tell you. Look it up in a manual for that car, it will tell you what code is for what diff.

Just wondering if you could help. Its slightly off topic but will help the topic starter. A mate of mine had an rb20det in which he used contact cleaner to clean his AFM as was advised to do this by his mechanic when it was running a bit rough. Anyway afterwards it was running much worse. The mechanic tried fixing all different things but in the end they fixed the problem by replacing the AFM. He used the right stuff in the exact way the mechanic said to use it. Although I wasn't there i'm taking his word. So do you think the cleaning stuffed his AFM in some way and how? Anyone else had this happen? Or was it possibly the way he cleaned it or something he did wrong? I've never cleaned one before so this is to help me, my mate and whatbrake for when he embarks on cleaning his AFM.

Where do you see Top Gear? 5th Gear is on the lifestyle channel on foxtel. Or at least it was, it hasn't been on lately. I've heard a lot about Top Gear, but never actually seen it. I'll download it if I have to but is it on any channel on Foxtel or Free-to-air? 5th Gear can be a bit boring sometimes but the last one I saw was good. Had Porsche vs. Porsche and Lamborgini Gallardo vs. Ducati. The crash tests are usually good as well. I think the boring parts are usually the non-performance stuff. Like when they road tested different fuel efficient cars, or some bloody people-mover.

I agree that Speed was a bit full of itself. It wasn't just becasue it was mature, it just seemed like it was written by wankers. Which is funny because a guy I used to know used to write for Speed. He wasn't a wanker when I knew him though. It had good cars in it though, like FLYBYE. I remember that from a local dyno comp. That is a nice car. 2DMAX isn't too bad, but the writing definately isn't better than Speed. I guess if I had to choose between the two I would go for Speed.

The guy isn't buying anything other than matchbox cars. And he definetely isn't in the army. If that wasn't obvious at the start with his retarted typing, its pretty obvious after it was clear he didn't know what battalion he was in.

Gotta agree with that. I use the hose most of the time as I'm sure I use much less water than if I fked around filling buckets and tipping them on my car. However, I usually use the car wash to avoid the scrutiny of my neighbours, even though I'm sure this wastes more water than me with hose or buckets.

Custom R32 'skyline' Light-up Trick
Patto- replied to Johnny Cash's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Yeah, the cop I saw defecting a car with Altezza lights said nothing about refelctors or anything. Didn't give a reason for defecting them, just basically said they are defective and don't argue. Whereas a mechanic I know who does blue slips said as long as they are red on back etc. they are fine. Same goes for neons. But who is gunna have white neons on front, orange on sides and red on back? It'd look bloody stupid. -
He's talking about a 1/8 mile track, which is quite popular in the US for some reason. I still don't see how anyone would let him race that thing.

That reminds me when I was at a mechanics with a mate we saw a piece of shit VL. it had crap paint, chips, dents and marks all over it and 14inch wheels with hub caps. Turns out it had a RB20DET with bigger turbo, hidden front mount etc. Costs anywhere from $1k - $2.5k to buy the vl, and about $5k to get the rb half cut put in. Not a bad sleeper, and would be cheaper than putting an rb in an old carby bluebird.
-
There's quite a few cressidas with turbo engines here on the central coast. They look pretty plain, just with 17's or 18's, then all of a sudden they've shot past you. A mate of mine has a Sigma with an SR20DET. But with a loud exhaust, purple paint job and very wide simmons wheels, he still gets lots of attention.

Ethanol To Be Introduced In The Near Future?

The Rolls Royce Phantom I used to have in my avatar is up for sale. It pulls 1500hp with only a shot of nitrous. Its not a 2L but it duz have a sik stezza and it does pull da chiks. I'm selling cos its just not roomy enough. I saved up when I was in Delta Force with Chuck Norris. We captured Saddam Hussein and stuff. If you don't believe me ask General Motors. He was our commanding officer.

Neither should be too much trouble. Check the R31 Skyline Club website. It has tech articles on this kinda stuff. Also has members who have put different engines in R31 pintaras and Skylines. R31 Skyline Club

Custom R32 'skyline' Light-up Trick
Patto- replied to Johnny Cash's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Ok. I was told different. Like I said I had always thought that as long as you had red on back etc. you were fine. Especially since Altezza lights do exactly the same thing as normal lights. -

Patto- replied to Johnny Cash's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Any light on the back of your car needs to be red, or it can be considered defective. The same goes for the sides which have to be orange and the front has to be white. That said I have seen a cop defect a car for having Altezza style rear lights. The guy pleaded with the cop that there was nothing wrong with it. The cop said and I quote "I'm a police officer and I say its defective so its defective." So really they can get you anyway they want. I guess its easier to get it cleared than take it to court, which means cops can defect just about anything thats not standard. -
The roads here on the Central Coast aren't very good either, but they must be shocking up there if you want to raise a car from standard ride height. Sorry mate but the best advice I can give you is to buy a different vehicle. You own a sports car. They are meant to be low.
