  1. Well yeah basically they look good (arguably). But give no performance gain at all. In fact, they can't really be used to drive at all. So, I guess that makes them the ultimate rice.
  2. I have to mention that RWD is really not being fairly represented in a VR SS. Commodore's aren't exactly renowed for their brilliant chassis.
  3. I don't think Rizza has one. Some people import them. Not impossible to find in Australia. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=89210
  4. Yeah it think you'll be best off trading an NA skyline in for a turboed one rather than upgrading the one you get. I know a guy who bought an NA supra and put the twin turbo motor in. I think he now regrets it as he is missing lots of stuff from the turbo version such as the suspension, interior, dash, brakes, diff, resale value and a few other things.
  5. I think what you're talking about is a device that warns you when you are approaching a fixed speed camera. Not a mobile police radar. These are perfectly legal in all states. They also warn you of accident black spots and other crap.
  6. Well I was just talking to a friend of mine who owns a plastics company. He says those rims could only be used for show, not for actual road use. If you were to drive on those rims the brakes would heat up the acrylic and make it brake or bend under the weight of the car. If you leave acrylic out in the sun it gets kinda soft, so with heat from brakes it probably wouldnt last very long at all.
  7. Ignore this post....questions answered.
  8. I'll come and watch. Do they sell alcohol there?
  9. There's a vr4 in my area that looks like a piece of sh1t. It looks shocking, even has black steel rims no hubcaps. Would be an excellent sleeper, but the idiot who owns it has put on the loudest blow-off valve I've ever heard. Now i'm confused. I thought he was trying to make it a sleeper. But now everyone knows its a turbo, but it still looks like a shitbox. WTF? But yeah, before the blow off valve was on there, it was an excellent sleeper.
  10. Anything with a turbo is illegal in NSW thanks to our new laws. Same goes for v8s, superchargers or any NA car defined by the rta to be a "high performance" 6 cylinder. Also I'm pretty sure your car cannot have any mods either. When I got my p's it was legal for a p plater to drive anything.
  11. It doesn't ventilate the brakes very well either.
  12. Yeah I read something similar where they compared it to a HSV GTS. I think it was in motor. They put it on a dyno and I can't remember what it got but i think it wasn't far off the GTS's 300kw.
  13. I'll back up the magna sports suggestion. They are pretty quick. It also has a tiptronic auto. Other than that I can't really think of any other decently powered cars that a nsw p plater can drive. Although by the sounds of it your after more show than go. The 318i and what not are absolutely gutless and would be even worse with an auto.
  14. It was 206kw. It was only an agreement between japanese car companies, it was not a law. They are throwing this out the window with the new gtr though. Also it was a bit of a joke anyway, since the gtr has always been over 206kw. They have just said it was 206kw to pretend that they weren't breaking the agreement.
  15. I thought that was heaps funny. Especially as you have the fonz as your avatar. Sounded like it came straight outta his mouth.
  16. I found this while searchind for something else. Don't know where it came from but it cracked me up.
  17. Most of the weird cop cars such as the Saab are donated to the police force for various reasons such as this one from Victoria: http://www.drive.com.au/editorial/article.aspx?id=3666&vf=1 But if you think thats weird, check out what some cops get to drive in Italy: Gallardo cop car Lucky bastards
  18. Autotecnica? Isn't that the brand of air filters that says on the box "not for use in turbo or modified engines". If it is the brand i'm thinking of then the only use they are for is to add a bit of flair to your engine bay. Provides no performance gain at all. Please correct me if I'm wrong, I may have got them mixed up with some other cheap brand.
  19. Its all good mate. Maybe I was the one that got a bit carried away. Yeah I guess I've heard motoring journos talk some shit before as well. A mate of mine used to be one.
  20. Well thats the biggest overreaction I've ever heard. I just thought I'd mention it as a possibility. I never said it would be a v8. Perhaps I worded it incorrectly which suggested this. I have read an article which suggested it may be a v8 due to the four tailpipes. I assumed since this was a motoring journo with many years experience he would have some idea what he was talking about. I didn't really think too much into what he had to say but offered it as just a small piece of input to balance against the unconfirmed reports that it will be a v6. You seem as though you were almost offended by this comment. You say many v8s have a single exhuast. Wtf has that got to do with anything? So should I also jump to conclusions and believe you are implying that if the gtr was a v8 it would have a single exhaust? That is the stupidest shit I've ever heard! See, jumping to ridiculous conslusions is quite moronic. Unfortunatley as you would know I and just about everyone else on this website have only seen photos of the new GTR so both you and I can only speculate on what we hear from the motoring journos who have the privledge of actually seeing this thing in the flesh. If you just felt the need to express frustation of some sort than go ahead. But perhaps make your own thread for flaming.
  21. Yeah it adds another dimension to it. But some manufacturers can be disadvantaged by the tyres they use. As you said every team with Bridgestones was getting their arse kicked by the teams with micheleins. If they all used the same it would show how good the manufacturers are at building race cars and how good the drivers are. But then again I suppose how good they are at building f1 cars doesn't exactly correlate to how good they are at building road cars. Yeah exactly. I think that was their point that by pissing michelein off, michelein will leave f1 so Bridgestone is the sole supplier. This would cut development costs for tyres, as teams wouldn't be competing with other teams tyres.
  22. If its leaking from the fuel cap, get a new cap.
  23. Spotted: R33 with no. plates R33SOM. Parked in main street of Gosford across from train station about 8.30pm last night.
  24. If one is a bit more faded than the other a bit of cut and polish will fix that. Shouldn't need to get it resprayed.
  25. Its strange that a car enthusiast is praising Harold Scruby. Scruby advocates that there is no need for cars at all and that everyone should use public transport. I couldn't care what stance he took on what issue. He is a bloody wanker who has no grip on reality as far as I am concerned. He is the last person I would ever listen too. If you were unaware of his beliefs and were just praising him purely for his comment on 4wd's then I suppose I understand. But Duncan is right, you can stereotype performance car drivers just as bad as you stereotype 4wd drivers. Harold Scruby is equally against both.
