Thanks Guys, I'm really stuck in two minds. a few people who are selling modded GTR's are claiming it has this and that, but no one seems to have receipts to back up their claims. If I can find a nice modded car with reciecpts to back up claims then I'll snap it up, otherwise looks like I'll be going stck.

Hi Guys, I'm about to buy a 32 GTR and want some opinions on which path to take. If I go standard I will start to mod almost straight away, problem is that this will end up costing much more than buying a modded GTR. cheers

Thinking Of Buying A J31 Nissan Maxima
NISMO replied to gel's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Bought one for my wife, a little while ago, and she and I absolutely love it. Very comfy seats, minimal noise inside and very very nice motor. It's funny how little torque steer you get when you put your foot down on take off, I was expecting much more. Heaps of luggage space (actually has more litres of luggage space than an x-trail). And the clincher...... Absolutely awesome engine note above 5000rpm :-) I was weighing up a V35 sedan when buying, but with two kids the extra space you get from the Maxima is what sold me. The only down side, suspension is a little soft for the twisty bits. -
Completely agree. I think the F1 dudes have a big problem on their hands. Someone like Shuey has amassed a legion of fans that are loyal to him and not Ferrari or F1. His fans spend big on his merchandise and alot go to F1 to see him on the track, not Ferrari and not the sport of F1. I could be wrong but I'd really like to see attendance records for next year compared to the last couple of years. Actually i hope I'm wrong! The problem also get's bigger when you look across the paddock and find that drivers with a personality are far and few between. Which is why I personally think the F1 should be promoting Alonso more than anything at the moment. Also I think his retirement was very poorly managed. If I knew next season was Shuey's last i would definately be at the Melbourne GP and more than likely would have tried to get to Malaysia as well. The guy needs to have a farewell season.

Just to clear things up, I was not throwing blame just cause Alonso didn't win. I was pi$$ed off about what was shown on the telecast which was Alonso way ahead of Massa, and this part of the footage being referred to as the reason he was penalised. As for Alonso being a "golden child" my word he is. F1 needs alot more Alonso's on the grid. The kid is young, a very very gifted driver, has been winning and has got a following. With "God" (not meant in negative way - I am a big fan of what he has achieved) now retiring who will be the new face of F1 - Kimi (Mr personality) raikkonen??? On a side note, I think living in Eurpoe is in no way a measure of someone's knowledge of F1. I am of European background, have lived there and have many relatives all over Europe, some of which don't know what F1 stands for :-) At the same time you have a lot of people on this forum who are very keen observers of F1 and have been following F1 for a very long time, and discounting their opinions because they haven't lived in Europe is a little over the top. blackrex, if that was the case then I didn't see the part where he came out the pits so disregard my comments. Unfortunately I made the mistake of believeing our world class commentators who showed FA miles in front of Massa, and said that this was the incident the penalty was referring too. On another note, how much did you want to slap diffy, for spoiling Michael's speach and anouncing his retirement before we heard from schuey.
-
not sure who you can believe in the noble sport of F1, but Alonso commented that the engine let go because he was pushing so hard to make up places. Given how reliable the car has normally been, I kind of think his comments have some truth to em.
-
What did everyone think of alonso's penalty for "apparantly" holding up Massa? Personally any faith I had in F1 being a true sporting series where the best man wins, has completely gone out the door. I heard somewher that it was the Italian race stewards that decided the penalty. is this true? If yes, then this has to be the most blatant form of cheating i am yet to see. Absolutely love Schuey, and respect everything he's achieved as a driver, but give Alonso a break. The kid is a freak of a driver and if current form continues throughout his career and is in a decent car, I have no doubt he'll be remembered later on as on the same level as schuey if not better.

Turning A 78 C210 Into Track Only Car
NISMO replied to NISMO's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
Thanks Guys, Really appreciate all the info. If I go turbo, I'm thinking RB. I know the SR20's are a better motor than the RB20, but in a car this lite, I don't think I'll need a 400kw SR20 motor to get the job done. Warps, was thinking the same over the weekend. I think the first step will be to get some info on what categories of racing are available for the car, and then have look at which avenue to go down. Personally I'd prefer a screaming NA over the turbo. would love some more info. The L26 in at the moment I imagine would need a complete overhaul. Thanks again guys. -
Hi guys, after serving me for 3 years of punisihing trips to the train station, I am now considering turning my C210 into a track only car. Everything is completely stock at the moment. The plan is to strip everything bar the drivers seat and dash from the inside, which will make it nice and lite. What I want to know is, what do people recommend around the rest of the car, engine, suspension gearbox etc, and how much do you think I'm looking at price wise. Not looking to set lap records, just have a hole heap of fun, in something that will be a little different out on the track. Would like to keep the engine a Nissan as well. PS - It's an auto atm, so will need to convert to manual. any info appreciated. Bobby

Thanks Jono, Just what i wanted to hear, will definately have it fixed now. Does it effect the engine much when running? Do you notice a sharp decrease in power or over heating or anything?
-
Hey Guys, just a quick question on the A/C in older skylines - particularly C210. Is the unit any good? Mine must need a re gasing - doesn't blow any cold at all, but if they don't do a decent job of cooling anyway might not bother with it. cheers

hey guys, Need some help. Was hoping someone may be able to point me to a hotel/motel in newcastle that doesn't mind a bit of noise, and the odd visit from a female entertainer. Going up for a mates bucks party, and the last hotel we had in newcastle we had to hum for the stripper cause the management wouldn't allow the noise from the stereo. Mods, feel free to move to wasteland thanks

Personally I think it has more to do with the fact that the track is so varied. Agree that a lot of the time will have to do with how good the driver is and how well the driver knows the track. In my mind what make the Nur unique and a good test of machine is that not only do you get varied situations - long straights, short straights sweeping corners, tight corners on camber off camber etc, but you get a good range of each of the above, throw in the fact that the track condition varies from very smooth sections to sections with bumps that could throw you off the road and you get a track where a car must be an excellent all rounder to do well. Hence why you see cars such as the Porche's and GTR's doing so well there. Kind of like a targa event in my mind, only the best all round cars will do very well.

Still early in the championship, but Australia's James Courtney and his co driver are leading the Japan GT. Pitty he's in a Supra though . The last round was a shoker for the Z's, top four places were all Supra's. Take a look at the pics or race review to see a nicely cooked Lambo http://supergt.net/en/

In order to compare like with like, if we're talking typhoon, shouldn't we be talking Nismo, and therefore the GTR Z Tune or R Tune? The typhoon is developed from the performance arm of a manufacturer, as are the GTR Z tune and R tune. And the day i see an out of the box Typhoon "tear a (out of the box) GTR (Nismo Z or R tune) to shreads" is the day I will hang up the keys and jump on the pushy.

Hey Kent, Kind of decided to go with an L28 injected. V8skylineMAN, helped me out and let me know that the motor would slot straight into the c210 without and mods to mounts at all, so minimal fuss. Also it only has an ecu for fuel inj, so again setting this up should be minimal fuss. The engine I want is in Adelaide, so just waiting to confirm shipping and will take it from there. Thanks for all the help guys, hopefully all will be good with the motor and no trouble to squeeze in. Bobby

Hey fellas, I've had a C210 coupe for a little while now used to get me to the station and back each day. Over time have began to really really like this car. Here's my problem, engine is really on it's way out ( only running on 5 cyl atm ) but I want to keep the car and put something a little more realiable up front. Any suggestions? Not looking for massive power, would prefer something NA. Have been thinking RB20DE out of the r32. Also please let me know if you know of any workshops in Sydney who would be interested in doing the work. cheers
-
Hey Martin, Any luck finding any info? I've got a 78 c210, but mine's a coupe and am also looking at doing a conversion. I've heard though that some big buck are needed if your thinking RB25det. not only engine, but fuel system, brakes etc etc have to be updated. I was thinking more along the lines of the 3L from the R31's or preferrably the RB25 twin cam non turbo out if the R32. Definately agree that the handling is sweet on these things. I feel 100% more confident in my 30 year old skyline than I do in my 2 year old SS Commodore. I had an R33 GTSt a few years and the lighter c210 come pretty close. Let me know how you go.
