  1. w00t just flew in from emerald...and boy are my arms tired Still nice to be in brisvagas for a week or so anyway... I see whoretown is deserted as usual
  2. hmm well i'm not sure then. With mine the cop ticked major meaning i had to go to queensland transport, i think thats what you'll have to do aswell unfortunatley.
  3. have they ticked 'major' on the defect notice?? an inspection station means taking it over the pits and the shaker the tranny dept themselves. Theyre's one out at darra, i think they'res a few around brisbane. You can expect them to be thorough, they were with my car. It gets shaken, they test front, rear and handbrake performance using a special roller system, aswell as a visual inspection over the pits for fluid leaks, tyre wear, underbody damage etc... Oh and as you're driving onto the ramps theyre is a big piece of metal that sticks up conviniently at the same height as minimum legal ride height, so if your cars excessivley low you can damage the bumper, or worst rip the exhaust off.. they also checked seatbelt webbing, all lights and indicators, body panels for bog, and literally ripped apart (and broke clips) of my boot trim looking for nos gear.. (yes my car is close to stock too )
  4. not true, i had this discussion with my flatmate about 1hr ago. Police can defect you for anything, even nothing! they just have to have suspicion that your car is non compliant to ADR rules, they are not mechanics and dont even need to specify defects on a defect notice- just say defective vehicle and let the transport dept figure out if its ok or not.
  5. Yep...although we came over when i was a little un.. Its amazing how many kiwis there are over here, see our army is too weak to take australia, so wer'e slowly moving every nz citizen one at a time and hoping noone notices
  6. cos aussies suck at rugby
  7. When i said forced i meant that i was told my tyres were useless, so i had to buy replacements.. its not like they got me in a headlock or something lol, they said the tyres were unsafe and that they wouldn't survive a few 100kms more driving round town yet alone a 2000km round trip to emerald and back, hence i said to go ahead and replace them. I was very sceptical as far as i knew the outer edge of the tyres had at least 60% wear, and i never noticed a problem with the way the car drove either. went and had a look at them and they were right, the inside shoulder was worn to the shiznit on both sides, but the passengers side was especially bad, somehow it was falling apart from the INSIDE with chunks of rubber INSIDE the tyre!!, the whole inner shoulder was thin as, and easliy pliable. Probably what caused it to go flat, if this had not happened today I would have been happily travelling at 100+kph on my way to emerald and i dont wanna know what would have happened if the tyres had let go at that speed Likely they would have had to cut me out of the car if theyre was anything worth saving I didn't realise the wear on the tyre as i dont routinely climb under the rear of the car (lets face it they'res not much to do under there lol), plus with my bodykit and rideheight its hard to notice that sort of wear on the tyre if you're doing other things to the car. It drove fine, which i know sounds surprising, but i dont hammer my car everyday, but the times i did it seemed to have the 'normal' amount of rear tyre grip etc... and drove as usual. Thinking it was down to a incredibly dodgy wheel alignment, the last place i took it to i knew it wasn't right so i took it back, they had the car for an hour and still didn't fix a dodgy job!! Today when they re did it they said alignment was waaay out. Either that or maybe my hicas has somehow caused this... You would not believe how many kms ive travelled in this car, i'd say at least 2000km in the last month. I encourage everyone to pay more attention to their tyres when they are planning a long trip!! I'm counting myself lucky for sure.
  8. how did that happen?? if you look at time posted i'm actually a minute ahead, yet you're higher up!! what the hell??!!?

    Guard Rolling

cool, where are they spooks?? That price sounds very resonable to me
  10. w00t for third place
  11. i was quoted 3.5K for a basic rub back and respray (no interior or engine bay) lol.. sometimes its hard to figure out whats a good price for a good job

    Guard Rolling

hmm thanks guys. Good point about the grinder option, i'll rule that out, only other idea is if i could figure out a way of 'pinching' the lip so it sits higher up, without buckling the guard. Guess its better to get a proper rolling, col i suggest an oceans 11 style heist on the treasury or maybe the italian job is better- use 3 r33's and call it the japanese job lol
  13. hey, yeah can help with the letter, but its going to be a problem as i'll be working out of town for the next three consecutive weeks, if i can remember i'll take a copy of the documents with me and can fax them to you next week.. Have sent a pm with my mobile details, give me a call/text if you think this will help. I'm flying out sunday night so remind me before then. Failing that autobarn slacks creek was where i got the paperwork from, you could try them. For the record i got defected a while ago, and the cop told me to take the car as is to QT for the inspection, THIS IS NOT TRUE. Fix up what he has listed as best you can, then take it.. you need to make the booking within a few days of getting the defect (cop told me 7 but think he was going for scare tactics) BUT YOU CAN PUT OFF THE DEFECT INSPECTION, ie: you can book it for 3 months time if you like. Would only be an issue if you got done again, they will want to know why you havent got off your ass and fixed the problem sooner. (i often work out of town so my inspection was almost 2 months after i got defected). for post inspection - mine all they wanted was a bolt on my airbox (that i got to replace my pod filter), 2 new front tyres fitted (as one had wear on the outside edge past the indicators) and replacement of my steering wheel or the paperwork to prove it was legal, BUT they give you TWO WEEKS to do this. I should note that my momo wheel is 32cm across, so does not comply with ADR10. But they wont know that (in my case the model code was BFR32 leather 3 spoke or something). The idea is to baffle them with paperwork and bullshit All i did was fill out a form to say i had fixed the problems they found, got the tyre place to sign it to say they fitted 2 legal front tyres, and sent them the paperwork which is from an engineer at roman autotek (the aussie importer of momo) that the specified wheels (in this letter) comply to some european design rule which is equivalent to ADR10. With this form i sent them a nice letter, even included a picture of my momo wheel and highlited my model of wheel specified in the paperwork i got from autobarn. Good luck, I never heard back from them and its been over 8 months
  14. Can anyone recommend a cheap place to get guards rolled?? I just put new tyres on my car and got a wheel align, it now scrubs like crazy, i didn't go up a size, had 265/35 falkens and now have dodgy 265/35 nexxens... Its rubbing on the inner half of the guard lip, the thing is i think i could solve the problem myself with the trusty angle grinder, is this a good idea? (like i'm only cutting the lip of the guard not the visible part of the guard itself).. although i imagine that lip must add quite a bit of strength to the panel.
  15. lol never thought of that.. although technically cruising at 100kph you're barely boosting and not lifting off throttle so prob would have little effect, unless you had a huge turbo or something..
  16. I looked into these further, apparently they DO work but are obviously not 100% effective, eg: if the roo is coming from a bad angle they still can effectivley 't bone' your car... its not like they stop look listen before crossing the highway.. They dont actually scare the wildlife away but merely make it aware of your cars presence earlier, so they are less likely to freak and run straight toward you. Most roos will just freeze and look at you, its still your job to avoid it lol (although i'm only going on what others have said on the net). No flaming for suggesting to drive slower- no way would i be speeding anyway, coilovers + car swollowing pot holes are never a good combination.. Public transport?? Emerald is not a big town, i doubt they would have anything like that.. Anyway i've got bigger concerns, wont be taking the car after all, i went to buy some oil to do a service, then got a flat rear tyre, took it to bob janes who are now insisting both my rear tyres are 'shagged'- really worn on the inside edge, and were too dangerous!! Hence i've been forced to get some tyres, puncture repair, wheel align etc.. which has added up to the princely sum of $600 (and yes they are cheap ass nexxen tyres too, but 18's). So i've just re-booked my flight up there, the line will be staying at home Assuming i had enough time to put the oil in and get it ready AND get enough sleep for a 12hr drive tonight, i no longer have the savings to cover if anything went majorly wrong on the drive up there (eg: major breakdown). Needless to say i thought my tyres were fine but i admit its been a while since ive been under the rear of the car (was the very inside edge that was worn) i will demand to see the condition of my old ones before forking out my cash!!
  17. I live in brisbane but gotta work in western qld (emerald) for three weeks. I was thinking of fitting some of those ultrasonic whistle things commonly called 'roo shoo' to my skyline to hopefully reduce the chance of hitting wildlife (can you imagine what a red would do do a fibreglass front bar and intercooler ) does anyone have any experience with these?? What are your opinions??
  18. no idea.. maybe thats for n/a cars that need backpressure, not turbos?? Besides i cant see the difference between 2 or even 4 smaller holes and one huge 4.5in one like with some cannon mufflers. Hopefully someone on the forums will have some ideas on this.
  19. I would like to put a twin exit exhaust system on my car, with a muffler or at least tip on each side of the bumper, similar to the m3's Seems like i need a purpose made muffler like this ..or this system for a 350z Or on the same site they had this, which i thought was an interesting take on it.. I know i could just slap a fake piece of pipe on the other side but i want it to be functional, so basically what ideas/comments does everyone have?? Is there enough room in the back of a 33gts to mount twin mufflers and associated piping?? (as i would think if i needed the purpose made muffler like in the second pic i'd have to order it from overseas and thats going to cost) Does anyone have a system like this on their car? Could it be done for less than $1000?? Cheers
  20. You can try taking it up with the dealer, if they are decent enough and value their reputation they will be reasonable, best bet is to keep your cool when you discuss the situation with them...but honestly theres just as much chance they will tell you to get stuffed I had a similar problem with my car except i went through a private sale. Car passed rwc and full mechanical inspection when i bought it, 1 month later with no other mods i get done by the cops for various defects (steering wheel too small, boost gauge mounted in 'head impact area' pfft, shit like that). I told the officer that i bought the car like that and it passed RWC and mechanic inspection, his response "RWC aren't worth shit mate, i can get a RWC that says that trailer over there is a boat!"....end of the day RWC are just a safety inspection to ensure the car isn't a deathtrap. They do not ensure full compatibility with ADR/ transport dept's/whoever's rules. Sounds like you have some serious body damage, so that really IS a RWC issue though, so the responsibility goes back to the dealer if they garanteed RWC when they sold you the car. Good luck
  21. guessing you want a larger plenum volume than stock, but have you seen this thread? http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=124555 modified standard plenum, looks to be a good job too!! only $300...
