  1. Hey guys im looking for nismo skirts for my 32. I remember seeing someone selling just the back portion of the skirt to put over the stock skirting (the part near the rear wheel) quite a while ago and i wouldnt mind one of those either. If anyone knows where to get one or whos selling em plz PM me. Cheers
  2. Where is it? in my r32.. i just realised i dont know where it is. heh i know its dumb but i would appreciate it if someone could just give me a rough direction to where it is. Cheers
  3. hey guys thought id just add to this. Ive got the same problem but water is leaking in through the holes in the bootlid where the spoiler is connected. The holes have sorta rusted slightly, so theres enough space for water to flow through now when it rains.. Sigh just gotta start saving up for a CF bootlid now ayy haha
  4. Very interesting read guys. Just wanna clarify and hear other ppls opinions on the Garrett GT2560R? From what i have been told they are comparable to the HKS 2530? Anyone know how these 2 compare? From what i know they are roughly the 2530s equivalent but with the capability to have slightly more top end with almost stock response? Anyone using the 2560s got anything to add to this discussion? Cheers
  5. Hey i had the exact same problem a few months ago. I had the discs machined, swapped twice and it was still like that. Both the pads (bendix ultimate) and discs were brand new when the screeching started. Finally, the workshop decided to change the pads and tadaaa the sound was gone. It seemed it was the pads fault. So from what I have learnt, unless the rotors are glazed, which wouldnt be the case with yours since you machined em, it would be the pads problem. Try and determine which side the squeal is coming from and that should be the faulty pad. You shouldnt have to use the anti squeal stuff on brand new pads, which is only supposed to be used as a stop gap measure on ancient worn down ones until you can afford new ones. Hope that helps, cheers.
  6. Thanks a lot for that man.. it really clears up a lot of things for me. I guess my next questions would be.. what do Compressor Wheel, Compressor Housing, Turbine Wheel, Exhaust Housing, Trim Inducer (mm), Major (mm), Inlet (mm), Outlet (mm), A/R, Trim, Major (mm), Exducer (mm), Inlet Flange, Oulet Flange and A/R all mean and how one would affect the other, which would affect response/top kw if it was bigger/smaller. lol i know thats a pretty big question to ask and it might be pushing it a bit but if someone such as Discopotato would reply here, i'm sure it would be a big help to a lot of turbo nubs like me looking at buying new turbos and could, in the future, be a "if you had searched you would have found this thread, its got a lot of info on it" kind of thread. *Sits back down to wait..
  7. Thanks for the reply, as i said i am nub to turbos, so is there a website or any sort of resource that i can learn about trims, housings, ARs etc? I have no idea what they do or how they affect the turbos flow, response, etc. There might not be any exact replica of turbos between HKS and Garrett but it has been said in "First set of turbo's" in the link that R31Nismoid posted, that there are many similarities between a HKS2530, Garrett 2560r of the -5 type and maybe N1 (cant remember)? Also, in that thread it says that someone had a certain turbo that had both HKS and Garrett prints in it on diff sides of the turbos? What does that mean? Did Garrett actually manufacture anything for HKS or vice versa or even for Nissan? Also final question, how come the high flows are usually done on factory turbos? Does that mean that by buying an HKS item it has effectively already been "highflowed" ? Cheers
  8. *takes a seat and waits with Craved
  9. I have read it all at least 3 times now.. But things get rather hazy in the middle and im pretty sure at least a few of my questions are unanswered there.. or is it just me getting sleepy and tired from all this turbo talk. =S Edit: ok scrap the last part of my 1st post, but what about the hi-flowed questions? And how garrett is related to Nissan or HKS? And how does a hi-flowed, steel wheeled, stock turbo compare to a new HKS one? And what is actually meant by hi-flowed? Would it be dumb to hi-flow a new HKS turbo? Garrett manufactures some parts for HKS or wat? Is there such thing as a Garrett 2530?
  10. Hey guys i was looking around for a new set of low mount turbos for response. I searched and various turbos were recommended by diff ppl. So far HKS 2530 and Garrett 2560r seem to be about right for me. I am new to turbos so this might be a noob question. Are garrett and HKS related? Is garrett related to Nissan? There seems to be so many diff turbos with diff names for each. For example I have heard the 2530 and 2560 are comparable and almost the same. Then GT-SS and GT-RS came into the picture and N1 and what not. Then we have the hi-flowed variations. And basically what models have stopped production? From what i have read, HKS turbos are almost the same as Garrett ones except for slight variations, and the diff in price is basically HKS tax? Soooo what HKS turbos are equivalent to what Garrett ones? And N1s are equivalent to what? All are direct bolt-ons? What advantages do these have over hi-flowed ones? How do hi-flowed standard turbos compare to the HKS and Garrett variety? What is basically done when a turbo is hi-flowed? What about hi-flowing an HKS one for example? Would that be dumb? Am i dumb? Also, could someone maybe tell me which turbos are better for response and which are better for outright power? Example: hi-flowed stock turbo<N1<2530<2560=2860 ^ does not mean anything, just wondering if someone could do something like that for me if its not too much to ask. Cheers guys sorry for too many questions
  11. What does short shift until its hot mean?
  12. Hey guys my turbos are starting to fail on me and causing huge amounts of lag so i reckon its time to change. Would be best if you are located in Melbourne so i can come inspect them. However, if you do have a pair but not in Melbourne do still PM me with photos and such because i need them quite urgently. Also, if you have a pair of gt2560r's 2nd hand or some sort of equivalent plz PM me too . Cheers!
  13. lol at last line haha. The reason i havent really considered a pair of 2nd hand r32 turbos is because i definitely wont be able to swap em myself and since im paying for labour i figured i might as well do it properly and fit some garrett ones in so i wont have to change em again in the near future.. I do have the manual boost controller and it did help the lag a tiny bit (500rpm). Although after reading this i reckon i wouldnt mind a pair of 2nd hand r32 ones so if anyone has a pair plz PM me . Ill post in WTB section too.. I reckon if a pair doesnt pop up soon ill just spend on oils and save up for a pair of 2560s heh cheers
  14. Well that is one of the theories that my mechanic and i have come up with. Heh coz my turbos are taking exceptionally long to spool up to full boost (5k rpm, stock turbos) and we think that the wheels might be cracked or some parts chipped off.. We cant seem to find anything else that might be causing the problem.. Even if its not the compressor wheel its probably some other turbo problem. Btw i just posted this because money is rather hard to come by for me so i just wanted some opinions
  15. Hey guys i have $500 lying around and was looking for something to add to my car (gtr32). Ive basically come up with some stuff that i could do: A) Fit my gauge (oil pressure and exhaust temp) senders that are sitting in my car doing nothing atm, gearbox oil, diff oil and the oil for the mini clutch thing in gtr's to engage 4wd. B) Save up for PFC + tune. C) Save up for 2 GT 2560-5 (yea i know ill have quite a bit to save but my current stock turbo's compressor wheels are rather worn, leading to long spooling time, so i will have to change em sooner or later : ) D) Buy front and rear strut braces and maybe some sway bars if budget allows? E) Replace my current pod filters which are dirty as, and maybe get a box? F) Any other suggestions? (Inclined towards performance and/or reliability of car ) My car is basically stock except for cat-back, said dirty pod filters, and bleed valve. Any suggestions appreciated Cheers
  16. as said, it might increase power because of colder air but it depends if your running at the limits of the stock cooler. if you are you can expect a nice increase in kw because the cooler would be holding back the flow. however if you put too big a cooler on, fitting it might be a bad idea until you actually have the boost to make full use of the coolers bigger capacity.
  17. if u use a mines ecu ur car will run like a crapbox
  18. Guys, excuse my ignorance, but what the heck is TMU? Is there a special TMU car that is visually different from cop cars or what?
  19. You know what.. I just checked and i just realised i dont even have an undertray..... hahaha i reckon ill need to get one soon >< but it isnt exactly near the top of my current shopping list.. should it be?
  20. lol biasa whats so biasa about you? you from indo? indomie roxxorz =P
  21. How does it look silly? I doubt u could actually see the undertray itself? Unless you mean the lip is too low and looks funny compared to the ground clearance of the rest of the car? How do you know topstage makes em? Did you enquire? Not many products on their site for lines heh
  22. Heres mine about a month ago outside my house. Wheels need a good clean tho.. haha
  23. thing is im a bit of a night person (also the reason why im posting on SAU at this hour haha) and i always go out to get a drink or 2 wit some mates at this time. To make matters worse i stay 100m from a police station. hahah its common that when i pull up to the street where my house is that cops from said station just drive past me. maybe its coz im asian and they think im just some international student (i stay extremely close to melbourne uni). ive had a couple of mates who are international and when they get pulled over they just show their translated international license and the cops just let them off coz they cant do much like demerit points etc. true? =P
  24. As the title says, is it anything to worry about? I have no idea whatsoever wat it could be, whats causing it. But i am sure its not some twigs under my tyres snapping haha. Thanks for help in advance
  25. what would an appropriate thickness for a 32 gtr for mostly street use but goes to track days be? (i know this is the NA section but since the topic's here.. it should be in the handling section anyway.. haha)
