  1. OK Firstly it is a 4ltr. Motors with large swept capacity dont need to rev much because the have bulk torque early on in the rev range where as my RB25DET needs to be revved to get any go out of it. For a sporty family car i would think it is ideal because you get a large turbo six with auto. You can be as lazy as you want to be and you can seat 4 passengers with large arses comfortably.
  2. Dunno, its is just something i have been told.
  3. how tuff is that??????
  4. They must have gotten around it because chiptorque and aps have kits or are in the process of developing them.
  5. Maybe this is the in thing nowadays. I remember reading in wheels or motor that several people have payed bulk cash to have a Holden VX rear end transplanted onto the rear end of a VY (Astra lookalikes). Luckily there is no need to transplant any front or rear end onto a skyline as there is no need to mess with perfection.
  6. I think i heard that they where looking at a different manual box for the BA2. Does your mate know anything about that or is it just wishful thinking on the part of the people that are waiting for BA2??
  7. What sort of BOV is it (Brand)??? I have heard that the ones that make the most noise are the most inefficient. I am getting the HKS clone purely because it has a plumb back kit and the theory behind its operation seems more advanced to the standard type of BOV. REV210 feel free to correct me if i am wrong at this stage
  8. I'm in total agreement with Nizmo.
  9. It is........
  10. Lane splitting is when you have a dual lane road and a motor bike rides down the line dividing these two lanes ie splitting the lane.
  11. smart arse :slap:
  12. Hungry 6 have you tried driving one???? It is more of a family car than a race car (skyline being a race car of course) as such it will weigh more. I personally hate the way the intercooler/ inlet manifold/ turbo is piped because it is a compromise. BUT you cant argue with a family car that pulls 240kW running 6psi which is heavily detuned. Oh by the way can your car seat 4 people as comfortably as a XR6t??? I took one for a run and i was surprised at how the suspension combined with the traction control made the car stick under serious accelaration through some cornering. The sales person did get a bit edgy at times but i assured him that i was looking at upgrading from the GTS25t to a family car with some go (cough cough like hell i was). They didnt JUST bolt on a turbo if you check the specs they also dropped the static compression ratio and did a lot of heat shielding among other things.
  13. Fair Enough. But i think it boils down to common courtesy to other road going motorists. I mean people in 4wd's dont mount the gutter and cruise up to the head of the que at the lights. In the same way eventhough you can do it on a motor bike you shouldnt and as i pointed out the boys in blue DEFINENTLY didnt agree with the fact that it was all of a sudden legal. Let me ask you this Hobzai if you are in a line at Maccas do you just walk to the head of the que???? No, you dont because its RUDE.
  14. Wazr32GTSt my bro has built a $30k off road buggy with a hayabusa as the power plant. I am well aware of what they are capable of. As soon as it gets a few revs under its belt it is power on over steer all over the place!!!! INASNT i dont care if he can own me all i care about is giving the idiot a scare so he wont be tempted to split lanes again. I have mates with R6's and GSX-R's and i know i cant beat. Hobzai. Well where do i start. Firstly the NT has the highest number of harleys per person in the whole of australia. So there are alot of blokes with a mid life crisis going on. The most annoying thing is that they ALL get the standard exhaust pulled of and replaced with straight through pipe after they buy it. So there are a lot of soft targets up here. Next if you dont feel safely while obeying the law and riding your bike ie you have to break the law to stay safe GET THE HELL OF YOUR BIKE. I used to race motor cross and i LOVE the rush and the feel of being one with the bike. The sensation of speed and flight is so much more intense on a bike and on a track that is fine. BUT on the road you are a small speck compared to a car, you are harder to see when i pull onto a road you are so small, you can easily sit in my blind spot and i wouldnt know it until i shoulder checked, you are so fast that where i driving along keeping a general eye on things you could be in my blind spot faster than i can track you. In short motor bike riders are a danger to themselves since they chose that mode of transport. I have a friend with a ZZR1100, he tells me that WHENEVER he rides anywhere he has to ride 5 to 10kph faster than everybody else on the road else he risks sitting in somebody's blind spot and getting splattered. Seriously though how many older friends do you have that used to have motor bikes and after crashing it and screwing their knees have had to start driving a car. I have only got one out of probably ten that has not got stuffed knees. HOBZAI I JUST TOOK IT UPON MYSELF TO CALL THE POLICE IN PERTH ON (08) 9222 1111 THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS TOTALLY ILLEGAL TO SPLIT LANES IN PERTH.............................................. ................................................................................ .................... ...................... ANY MORE COMMENTS HOBZAI ............................
  15. The manual gear box is a peice of shit to start of with, it feels like you are pushing the gear stick through playdoo, there is no crisp feeling to the shift. I test drove one and absolutely hated the manual, the sequential auto is heaps nice though.
  16. I know this is a skyline appreciation forum but i have always been open minded about cars. If the XR6t had been around when i bought my GTS25t i would have had a much more difficult time deciding on buying my skyline. In the following link they say that with a couple of tweaks and some extra boost you get 252rwkw out of the XR6t. How tuff is that. Also they say that 300rwkw would be a "doddle", that will really put the wind up someone driving a HSV with 300 flywheel kw..... http://www.fordforums.com/showthread.php?t...25&pagenumber=1 I think it is impressive that a local manufacturer has finally come up with a MODERN performance car. None of this single cam push rod junk but a really serious peice of gear. Mind you dont get me started on how the intercooler is plumbed because that really was a MAJOR COMPROMISE.
  17. Mic33r you would be surprised at how sure of themselves alot of these guys on the bikes are. They dont expect you to go them and as Jay95R33 said it gives them a hell of a fright which they deserve for pulling that sort of thing.......
  18. You are sitting at the lights (pole position). Then some twit on a motor bike decides to split the lines (dual lane road) and sit next to you expecting to easily pull ahead of you and cruise down the road with no traffic ahead of him. Well i have to say i am happy i have a skyline (will be happier once intercooler is plumbed and running 12psi again) because they ALWAYS get chopped. The other day i had some old bloke on a harley (and no i dont want anybody to tell me how slow they are thanks) he rode up on the left of me (i was in the left hand lane), i was ready and when the lights went green i flew straight past him as he was attempting to pull into the lane he was expecting to be clear since his hog was such a beast. hehehehe. He got the fright of his life and nearly ran off the road.... I once had a bloke on a buell give me a confused look because he throttled it at the lights and i was sitting right next to him grinning the whole way to the speed limit. Its a sport and i am a happy competitor :shake:
  19. Found the following quote when looking at HKS SSQV HKS SQV The HKS Super Sequential Blow off Valve (SQV) is a dual stage pull type relief valve. Unlike other blow off valves that are push type, the SQV will not leak under high boost conditions nor under vacuum at idle. Being of a pull type valve structure, the SQV can not physically leak under any level of boost because boost pressure also keeps the valve closed against its seat. The SQV is actuated by pressure alterations only, not by the rate of pressure or vacuum in the line, which ensures a quick valve response and complete closure during idle. On typical blow-off valve designs, a large valve is utilized in order to accommodate high boost / high horsepower applications. However, these large valves tend to react slowly and require high activation pressure to open, therefore are not able to activate and prevent compressor surge at light-load conditions. On the other hand, smaller, fast reacting valves do not discharge the airflow capacity required for high horsepower applications and tend to creep open and leak as the boost pressure overpowers the spring on these push type valves. For maximum performance, the HKS SQV incorporates both a small primary valve for ultra quick activation, along with a larger secondary valve for additional discharge capacity. The SQV is engineered to initially open the small primary valve at light throttle and load conditions, then sequentially opens the secondary valve for additional relief capacity under high boost and load conditions. The SQV is constructed of polished billet aluminum, which ensures long-term durability and visual appeal. The mounting base utilizes a circular mounting flange that provides exception flow and complete secure mounting via a C-clip snap ring and O-ring gasket. The triple-fin discharge port design produces a powerful and unique aggressive blow-off sound along with added visual distinction. The HKS SQV is available as a universal unit for custom applications and also by vehicle specific kits for bolt-on applications. Vehicle specific HKS SQV kits come complete with all needed mounting flanges, brackets, and miscellaneous hardware for a bolt-on installation. For Universal SQV applications, weld-on flanges are available in steel and aluminum for custom installation.
  20. I couldnt see if anybody has made this comment as i skimmed the posts but i have heard that the unless you recirculate the air your AFM doesnt get the right measurement when the valve is venting and that will cause the car to stall when you go off throttle. A mate of mine just bought a 1994 GTS25t and he complained about this exact problem. After looking closely at the car he found that it had the standard BOV mounted as it should be but hidden under the piping near the turbo some smart arse had plumbed a HKS SS BOV to give it that little bit extra wank factor!!!!!!!
  21. I am after a cheap jap aftermarket blow off valve. If anyone has one they want to sell email me at [email protected].
  22. Go for the Autronic. You can buy conversion looms from all sorts of people and it has this trick self tuning function. Power FC isnt to bad try and call up Croydon Racing Developments in Sydney or Tilbrook in adelaide they are both really keen on the power fc. Worst thing you can do is to buy a computer which doesnt have a large number of companies who support it or have a clue when it comes to tuning it..
  23. Found some photo's of a motorshow in the ford forum. Go half way down to have a look at the new Ferrari. Also does anyone here agree with me that the new BA looks like a R34 from the front???? http://pub126.ezboard.com/ffordsperformanc...icID=1413.topic
  24. Guys i can go for a drive 20mins (no detectable detonation), park the car go into the shops for 10 mins, then get back in it and immediately when i hit boost it pings now are you seriously going to try and convince me that my Apexi PowerFC has changed maps in that time and it isnt Heat Soak which i can feel when i lift the bonnet and i can barely touch the intake pipe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Xeron i dont know if you talking to me but i probably should clarify that it is the top section of the dump pipe that i am wrapping with thermal tape. ie from the outlet of the turbo to the bend where it goes parallel with the ground. Al i read it on autospeed. http://www.autospeed.com.au/A_0401/cms/article.html
  25. GCG take your standard turbo mill the living hell out of it and insert their own guts. ie they use the standard housing and your telling me that by using the standard housing all of sudden when you bolt it back on nothing will line up????? By buying a hi flow unit u would be able to to chose the impeller design and as such you can get a large setup which will give you peak power up high or a more streetable package for down low.
