  1. I have a V6 Crewman which I use for work. Towed the Z32 home from Surfers on a really heavy trailer. It is so godamn frustrating cant tell you. The new V6 engines dont have the torque down low the old pushrod 6 did. The bastard spent a heap of time changing down gears. Fuel economy was crap. 16L/100K on petrol and 21L/100K on LPG Car was 1200KG, trailer must have been 700+. I hope I never have to do this again. I am gonna have to build a 400kg trailer for the car to give the Crewman half a chance of pulling it. But when i am not pulling the trailer/car, The CREWMAN is great, 500klms+ on a 71 litres of GAS cost $31 So it is a reasonable compromise I spose.
  2. can you PM me your phone number ? This looks good.
  3. can be leaky doesnt matter. Just as long as they are a reasonable price PM me
  4. I looked at those but IMO the capacity with the largest Sd card is a bit small 60 mins is not enough. I was gonna screw a holder for the laptop behind the passenger seat and screw the web cam behind my head in the middle of the car. 250 gig would be more than ample I expect. I havent seem a web can more expensive than $100 so it could well be cheaper and better prviding it will record at high enough rez at 30fps. The canon HDV camera I bought to record this stuff is BLOODY USELESS.
  5. I was thinking it may be a cheaper option with longer recording time to have a laptop in the car to record web cam video. they also weigh less than 100 grams. There are some quite hi rez ones around now that look ok.
  6. Hope you got deep pockets. Last guy I saw do that at Sandown in an HSV got a bill for $7,000 to fix the armco up.
  7. The fuel system is very large. I bought a 25 ft roll of 5/8 alloy fuel pipe to run forward and back to the surge tank from the rail. The rail is 5/8 ID also. I have a 10 micron 10-A SX filter before the pump. There didnt seem much point having another at the fuel rail as well unless the pump disintegrates. Rail is custom top feed to Rochester 870cc injectors which feeds to an SX 10-A regulator and back to the tank via the 10-A pipe. ( 25ft of 5/8 pipe is enough to plumb up and back to the swirl pot) Only feed the rail from one end, But it is so large in bore I doubt it will matter. I have two Z32 TT intank fuel pumps in parrallel. So lift shouldnt be an issue. Will take some pics of the gear. and post em up
  8. Its the only reasonable pic I have The the car has been in storage since I got back from picking it up. I stopped in at UAS on the way back from Surfers when the car was on board. Plus us Z32 guys have to stick together.
  9. have to get rid of the last of the z32's to free up room in th garage. then its into it. have a huge pile of cool bits to put on it.
  10. Was a beautiful day. Warm, Sunny. Went down last night and stayed in the holiday house and mosied on down about 11.00. Not a big field They where doing 6 lap sessions as well. Some pretty uninspiring pommy cars there . And quite a few very nice ones. There was one black R32 GTR there that was very fast. Number plate was DATSMO. Had to laugh, He was 5 back at the start. At the end of the first lap he had overtaken 5 cars and was about 200 metres in front. At the end of 6 laps he had lapped the last car and was part way through lapping the rest of the field. Had a lot of herbs that one ! Two GT40's where there and a Ferrari 355. Very nice. Quite a few 240/260z's and a lot of other shrapnell. Whats the deal with Elfins ?? I dont get it ??, Fast but pretty uninspiring IMO
  11. I will be wondering around and wouldnt mind meeting a few of you if you are there. Looks like it will be a perfect day. 18c and sunny
  12. I bought a VELO FIA GPT in XXL. I had issues with every other seat I tried. I couldnt get my ass in em properly and the top wings where not high enough for my shoulders to fit. I am 6 foot and 110kg and have really wide shoulders They modded the seat so the front belt hole is moved forward 20mm. The 6 point harness squashed my nuts. Most of em have the harness hole too far back. Not comfortable. I would have got a carbon one but they dont have a mould for the bigger sizes in the carbon seats. So sandwich glass will do till I get my ass back to the gym. JP offered me his old carbon seat when he got his V8 supercar seat. I looked at him and laughed
  13. It is easier to find 20kg to pull out the car than try to lose 20kg
  14. Hmmm, Sandown would probably be good choice spectator wise. Close to the city and civilization. Nice shaped track too. Potential for damaging your car at Sandown is quite high. The few times I have driven there on the edge are a DACK shitting experience. I spose for highly sponsored cars with a good money backing it may be fine. But for me with my paypacket backing my racing. Its a worry. I love winton as a track. Its cheap and the ultimate in being viewable from one place. From the Main straight you can see the entire track. But its a bit far for spectators to get to. As an initial track for a Victorian Superlap. IMO Winton is ideal. I would love to have Superlap at Phillip Island,
  15. Why havent you looked at an Aussie made Velo seat? I had issues with almost all the seats I sat in. Including Sparco etc etc I spoke to Velo and they did a few mods on one of their stock seats and hey presto now it fits great.
  16. How can you say PI isnt spectator freindly ?? Its has heaps of vantage points to view large slabs of the track at any one time. Works for motoGP, Its a world class track !! Only downside ( maybe its an upside) is it isnt closer to Melbourne. I am still trying to work out what EC's reason for existance is apart from a track to make the V8 series easier for TV stations to use cameras on. (flat and fast) It isnt very exciting as a spectacle track goes. Not in the same league as PI IMO.

    E85 Fuel

I have sized the entire fuel system on the race Z for E85. Planning to take a 44 gallon drum to the United station to get the fuel. Word is that the octane rating is 110+ and many engines can be advanced past Bottom dead centre without detonation. AND ITS CHEAP. Sounds like a winner to me.
  18. IMO Superlap Phillip Island would be the ultimate. Maybe I am biased but no other track here in Australia compares to PI. Must be a way to make it happen. and soon.
  19. Last time I looked we where in a 7 year drought and Sydney was swimming in rain. Its drier down here than up there and Turbos work better when its cool. AND we got better tracks down here. I reckon Superlap at Winton or Phillip island would be great.
  20. Even the cheap ass advertising on channel 31 or SBS would be great. During Top gear or any of the petrol head shows on 31 would be sure to hit the target audience.
  21. Dont worry Boz, If Superlap doesnt make it to Melbourne by the time the car is finished I will be up there getting stuck in. JP and I are the only ones left flying the z32 flag. I want to be able to park it here again soon. But finished next time.
  22. A screen showing constantly updated split times and a leader board for each class and overall would be great. A really motivated commentator would also help. It has to be SOLD as exciting. Doesnt seem like that now. Exciting for those involved or realy interested but NOT for the rest of the public. There would be buckets of smaller to medium businesses that do import, race and performance work that could advertise if Superlap are not greedy on the advertising price. One way to sell this would be to make state events with a championship for top say 5 places per class in each state. All coming together for a championship each year. This would be feasible for the three eastern states almost immediately. If Superlap think there is NO interest interstate they would be So So wrong. IMO they are thinking and acting small. If they want this to turn into time attack as it is in Japan. Do the work, to reap the rewards. How about inviting a pair of time attack teams from Japan ??? That would genrate a heap of interest even in the general media.
  23. It needs coverage, Selling to enthusiasts is fine, BUT it needs promotion. If not for this site no one would be any the wizer about it being on. I dont know what publicity they reckon they had. BUT it was non existant. They need someone to sell it to a wider audience. Why do you think V8's are popular? Its not cause they bear any resemblance to cars that people drive everyday. Its publicity that drives V8 super cars and a TV audience.
  24. LMFAO, I told him before hand he should be drivin or gayness would get him !! Biggest problem with Superlap is there is as of now, ONE event and its only in Sydney. This type of racing has huge appeal and I dont get why the calender is developed so slowly, when having even a one meet per city ( preferably more ) series could net huge participation and audience including the sports channel. What can we do as interested people in pushing Superlap along a lot faster? Make it PAY for the organisers to run it ?? Suggestions ??
