I am usually not one to join in on any display of nationalistic ferver in any sporting events much. A few years ago I consigned Mark to the also rans and couldnt watch the races. For some reason, everytime I see Mark leading to the win I get really wound up and scarily proud. I never realized how much damage in the points tally that crash 2 weeks ago did to Marks WDC ambitions. He really needs Homo to take a dive in the next couple of races.

You can go a lot further than that around the edges. even to the point of putting the door handle on the skin and cutting the steel away. Also swiss cheese the end on the latch side. It is a dedicated track car isnt it ??

Door was still plenty stiff as the outside skin still acts as a sheer web. JP might have some pics? I think he went further after he got it. It was close to the weight of a glass door after he finished with it.

I cut most stuff out with a PLASMA cutter. Worked pretty well and safe in confined space inside the door. Cut the inside door frame out with a thin kerf cutting disk.

15kg without glass. The one I hacked ended up about 9KG There was more steel to remove there is still a fair bit of double skin I could have swiss cheesed. MAybe another 1 KG. Plastic fixed windows and a 0.6mm alloy door card wouldnt add too much back in. Window winder weighed a tonne and so did the intrusion bar. I still have to do this to my car yet Pretty interested in how to fix the plastic windows in and maintain strength.

I gutted a z32 door for JP and also cut the crap out of the frame and intrusion bar. Managed to pull 6 KG out of it.

I finaly got around to watching the race I recorded last Sunday. What a corker !! But WTF is with Schumaker ?? He is like a moving chicane !! His comeback is just as I expected. A joke. As much as I think Homo is a bit of a tosser. He drove an excellent race. It was quite bizzare that RBR seemed to give up half way through with Vetool just falling further and further behind. They KNEW they couldnt match the Mac's speed so didnt seem to try. If Mark had of come in when he was 20 odd sec's in front the race would have been quite different. The softies seemed to be able to cope a LOT better later on in the day with a rubbered track and light fuel load.

Webber just re-signed with RBR for another year on his contract till the end of 2011 !!!!???? That may be the end of Marks career I think. I couldnt see another team taking him up after that.

The white R33 was number 111 think he lowest time was around 1.47, I didnt make a note of the silver one

Car is basically stock with FMIC, and 14 psi of boost Eibach springs and KYB AGX shockers. I still had 40kg+ of stereo gear and spare tyre in the back to try to weight the car better. Handful yes, Hicas is still working which made it pretty skittish. I think inexperience on my part for most of the errors. Exploring the grip on RE55's is exciting especially when they are cold I learned heaps on the day and managed to pull 10+ seconds off my first lap till the 3rd session. I ws badly held up by traffic in the last session whihc was a shame as I think there was another 2 sec's in the car. The white and silver R33's where very very fast. Plenty of fun times to look forward to when the real race car is finished. The off's where quite funny, I was actually quite calm. The 4wd track seemed to be in slow motion. I had a heap of time to think what to do. Couldnt turn so waited for the tyre wall to finish before I turned it. Would have gone straight across into the wall if I had of gone straight over the road. Couldnt see the edge of the tarmac due to the sun sitting on the road. Only overcooked it a bit
